SSD or HDD
Re: I'm About To Start My Programming Learning Journey by yekete: 1:25pm On Sep 03, 2022
First, scale down what you wanted to do.

Either
1. Programming/coding or
2. Graphics Design

The two are independent that requires full-time learning and mastering of core tasks.

You will need to spend long time in the woods to acquire work ready skills.

SSD or HDD

I think it is HDD though I'm not sure, I'm a newbie in laptops stuff
297GB storage space

When i transferred a 350mb movie from my phone to the system,it took only about 15 secs

One advice I will like to offer is that,
Before you start to write the first line of code, ask yourself, do you want to become web app developer, mobile app developer, game developer, embedded systems programmer, CyberSecurity and many other genre. The reason is because, the tools of trade and approach differ sometimes.

What is your passion and what is the future demands for such skill in the next 5-10yrs down the road.

When, I started learning Python around 2014/15 then, my close friend who was learning PHP at that time was like, what can you do with Python, simply because he was getting gig from web.

Personally, I don't like GUI (probably, because I am color blind) but I am aware of demand for Python programmers across multiple section of technology, so, I put in more efforts in learning Python to escape web stack. Today, I worked in area of technology that have future and yet to be saturated.

I think i like Mobile app development. What language should i learn for it? And how will i start making money from it when I've become an expert?( And yes i know it will take a while)

If you finally made up your mind to become Android developer.
Firstly, your machine is not an SSD laptop, this will make it to struggle a lot to run Android Studio or Visual Studio Code which may later frustrates your life. Those application eats a lot of RAM and SSD.
It perfectly fine for web development or UI/UX design or any non related intensive RAM application.
Although, you may download Android Studio to test it but don't say I didn't warn you bro.
For the language to learn for mobile development are flutter, Kotlin, Java, Swift, Objective C and React Native. Just pick one that interest you and start learning it. I recommend Kotlin for you because that is official Google language for Android development.
Go to Jetbrains website to download the official language documentation. Everyday reading and practicing will make you become a good developer.
It will take you 6 months of practicing to familiarize yourself with Kotlin basics depending on your consistency.
Guy!! Forget about making money for now!!! Be good at what you do before thinking of money as a developer.
For now, you need to put in to serious work. Surely, Money will come.
Hope it helps!!

So i made up my mind and I'm On my Web development journey now. I just started learning Web development fundamentals and HTML on Sololearn and I have till sept 20th to finish this particular course. It seems HTML is easy because i understood everything under how many minutes.
So i want to Learn HTML and JavaScript then CSS for web development, then move on to java and python later on. What do you think?

I don't know how to check the for the model

If programming is your interest, you might want to understand the rudiments of web development learning HTML and CSS.

Then, you can scale from there to mobile when you’ve got good understanding of the above. Btw your pc is okay and should be worthy to handle any of the IDE out there.

Guy are you mad ? How can you buy a 3rd gen core i7 laptop for 140k? I swear them don rip you like shege....
That money could have gotten you a 6th gen core i5(which is more powerful than a 3rd gen core i7) with SSD ontop.... Hahh Omo I just dey laugh, person wey sell you that laptop for 140k just cheat you big time. If there's a way for you to get your money back, better go and collect it because that laptop is not worth 140k at all.

Because with a 6th gen i5, SSD and 8gb ram, you can even pursue your android development seff....

And moreover, you should just forget about programming in its entirety because even if you should start, you'll definitely give up along the line. And might end up selling that your laptop for something Else tongue

Baba small small now why the hating and rubbishing him like that. I understand the fact that he doesn't know anything about getting a good laptop for the job but at least he would start from somewhere with a low budget laptop later he will upgrade. Many people who later become big in tech today start from somewhere. You don't need this discouragement. You Know he is a newbie, he is not aware to any of these things but I have told him to forget about Android development because of his machine unless he want to blame himself. I advise new people entering into tech to make proper research about which tech field they really want to go before buying a laptop. Not all laptops can perfectly do some tech field.

This is one of the reasons i hate Nigerians so much.
Anyway,i think it is that expensive because of the dedicated graphics card in it and the processor. The original price was 170k, had to price it down to 140k

Alright, Technology is advancing and evolving like never before so we don't have any choice than to do the same. At least try to get Core i5 6th to 8th Generation 8GIG RAM 256SSD Intel UHD 520 or 620 graphics, or AMD ryzen 5 graphics. Trust me bro!!, you gonna have a smooth web development experience with this spec of machine. Avoid Any HDD laptop cos is very slow.

You can later upgrade the HDD to SSD if it is allowed. It will cost you another money to upgrade then you are finally good to go.

Why is the SSD that important sef? So a 1Tb HDD isn't better than a 256gb HDD?
I'm just curious. I don't have money for SSD now so i think I'll just upgrade to 500gb HDD

Even 128SSD is better than 1TB HDD. Ask why are SSD laptop more expensive than HDD and why are people running away from HDD. E b like say HDD laptop never frustrates your life before??

That's exactly what I started with, the 8570p. It's a rugged system and if it's HTML CSS and JAVASCRIPT you are hoping to code on it, then it'd serve you well..
Though yours was a bit overpriced, probably cause of the exchange rate and all. But in all honesty, that laptop shouldn't be more than 100k, or at most #120k. Got mine for #70k last 2 years.

For games, well she's not a gaming beast, but most games below 2015 would run perfectly. If you wanna run something above 2015, then she'd struggle to or may not run it. And most times, you have have to tear down the games to it's lowest settings or mod an entirely new setting below the lowest settings before most games upward would run.
Least I forget, if you wanna play games on it, get an external fan, else be ready to change your processor every 3 months. She gets really hot when gaming, so try to observe her, and know when to give her a break, else you risk damaging her.
