If we they had not been stealing all the money meant for turn around maintenance of those dead refineries for all these years we won't be talking about subsidy. Why is none of our 4 refineries functional? This is the question Nigerians should ask and who are the beneficiaries of subsidiary? |

Re: Without Subsidy Petrol Will Cost ₦462/litre, Says NNPCL by Ebubu: 9:08pm On Sep 04, 2022 |
Biodun556: 200-250 should be okay. Don’t know why FG is speaking of almost 500 naira. 500 naira will lead to massive inflation never witnessed in Nigeria before. Surely Labour will strike and negotiate for improved minimum wage to about 60k from 30k. After all FG now has more money in trillions due to ceased importation of fuel. Minimum wage of 60k and we will be cool |

rusher14: The rubbish is petrol would sell for more like ₦600/litre and not ₦462 if the exchange rate was at around ₦500-₦550 which is the true value of the Naira. For instance, diesel is sold at around ₦800/litre, how, then can that of petrol be ₦462? Word out on the street is that diesel importers source dollars at the parallel rate has now plummeted from ₦600 to ₦690 to a dollar in recent weeks. |

Kasssandra: Aunty Kassandra! Are Nigerians happy either? Are you happy? Obviously, you didn’t get my point. The use of Ghana in that context was ironical. But come to think of it, even if Ghana pays more than 500 per litre and are not using the fuel to power their generator sets, cos you and I know there’s 247 power in Ghana, while we power our generator sets and still pay NEPA for poor power supply. What is the value of the Naira to the dollar today? Omo! Wake up jor! |

CheapHomes1: I shouldn't be replying you since it seems you have forgotten the origin of the entire talk The person asked for an explanation from the government on how price grew from 86.5 naira in 2015 to 180 naira today. I only gave an answer to that. It's your problem if u conclude that the government is being completely Insincere.

Who fixes the price? Why should it be so? Our natural resources that should be very cheap and some people are sitting in it to predict it should be at 400plus, the question is Why? Because salaries are pegged at millions for employees, is that not one if the reasons? When ASUU is on strike for just little issue. Professor takes less that 600k. What are we saying? When are we going to deliver ourselves? Is that not bad governance? |

Oh please take that subsidy and increase the minimum wage to 60k. Look for funds and battle our refinery and improve local production of goods and services. Wasted 7 years. All you achieved was establishing an ethno-religious society. Can't expect much from a stupid president after all. My disappointments are in order. 1 Like |

SpecialAdviser: Answer: they did partial removal. That’s why it left the price you mentioned to the price you mentioned. We like postponing evil days in Nigeria. Government should have been doing this partial removal since 1999 when we returned to democratic government but some cabals are feeding fat in that sector, including my family and yours who work either directly or indirectly at the port. Government has been subsidizing fuel since 1979. Saudi and other oil producing countries did similar thing in the 70s but most of them had either stopped their own subsidies or reduced it significantly but some powerful selected few are enjoying ours. That’s why they kukuma killed all the refinery so that they can be bringing fuel directly into the country. The long military era laid the chaotic foundation where our civil rule now builds catastrophic skyscrapers on. Same thing they did to Naira by just devaluing it unjustly since 1980s. 1 Like |

SmartPolician:For the first time, I share your thought, the suffering will be 10 times or more if the subsidy is removed because the oil markets who are cabals can decide to increase the price anyhow for instance look at diesel price at 850 from 250 naira. The Nigerian importers are so mean to the extent that they decide to hoard the products they won't allow other aspiring investors to participate so as to increase supply of the products 1 Like |
