For engine. We decided to go with a 24v M50B25. This is a popular choice on e30s. With some little modification you can pull it off easily.

The main reason why we are going with the M50 is because we will build an S50 clone out of it. That way even without Forced induction we have alot more than stock power of an m50b25 (190hp).

Even if we decide to go with forced induction (in future) the m50 iron block is a solid engine. We consider it a 2JZ

We previously had two engines with same modification in the past on our e36. Its the cheapest way to gain over 200HP.

240hp are average numbers you will see from many dyno results using the same route we took.

if you are able to spend more on very high degree/lift camshaft, cylinder head porting, improved fuel and fuel delivery and better ECU. 290HP is very possible. We are talking of raw NA power compared to its 190hp stock power!!!


We also work on other BMW engines. Mainly these straight six engines are very good if built well. Whether NA or turbo charged.

What do you mean you'd build an s50 out of an m50 I doubt if the wiring are the same as the s50 was only in the m version of e36

...good luck in getting the brain box and the wiring harness ..I'll very much want to hear gist on how you pulled it off as each piston has an individual throttle body ..I want to see the magic you pulled to solve that issue ..

That m50 is the slowest version of the straight six btw ..why don't you just say Bleep it and drop a double vanos m54 and be done ..

Answer. for us Wiring harness is not even a problem to begin with. Like i pointed out its one of the reason why we prefer to use this engine cus of its simplicity. (M5X/S5X WIRING ARE EASILY ADAPTED WITH A SPECIAL ADAPTOR INTO THE E30 CHASSIS) you can still pull it off even without an adapter. Check youtube if you interested in knowing how. Using MS41.x or BOSCH, u can flash in S5x tune. or better go with a chip like miller war chip, or something more custom better than those two options.

*ITB* is mainly an icing on the cake. The headflow itsself is where most of the power will be made. We wont even do ITBs. Aggressive cams and ported head are wayyyy more important

Answer. From previous experience m54 block being Aluminium the headbolts thread easily strip off clean due to extreme pressure from the abuse of drifting. You can go ARP, but still the iron block has more desired characteristics for us.

Secondly Vanos is great, but we plan to go with aggressive cams, so why bother with a vanos head. Currently we running a "hot cam setup"

Thirdly, m50>M54 for high rev application and forced induction (stock for stock)

Answer. When you have a purpose built car, you want it to suit that purpose. Unlike an everyday economy car. Almost all racing or drift engine are built and rebuilt after a short period. By that they last for long term. Maybe not. And thats fine.

Increasing the displacement of an engine increases its torque and hp. Torque is even the most increased component. Not power sef. We dont even care about our top speed, (except if its while sliding and thats not important as well)

Torque is the most important thing oo. If i can put in an M60B40 or 1UZ inside it will be cool. But local availability of common basic parts are a concern which made us scrap the idea of a v8 for now. Maybe in future. Fingers crossed

The wiring are not the same on the pinouts and there are no magics involved getting it to work. You can order an adaptor or do a pinout reroute just like we did. All you need is a crimper, some basic tools, and both wiring diagrams. It only takes about 20 mins.

That adaptor thing does it flash the ECU ? I don't get ..you know BMW has alot of sensors now I assume s50 engines have more sensors than m50 ..using an m50 wiring harness how do you intend using those air sensors that are not similar to s50 using an m50 wiring

The platform we are working on is not as complicated as it may seem. (Although its not our first engine build) so it depends on your experience level.

Secondly when i say building an s50 out of an m50. We are trying to achieve similar power and torque level as an s50. We wont use every single part from an s50 cus whats the point, you should rather just buy an s50 if thats the case.

The point here is taking a not so powerful cheap motor and building it into something more powerful. (Hope you grab the whole concept now bro)
