Similar thing happens at Oniru Road when coming from Ligali Ayorinde.

Rather than put a proper sign to guide people not to make a turn, the corrupt Officer would lurk around to see the 'new' guy who would fall victim of their extortion.
all those places should be snapped, this thread screenshot and tweet LASG, Jide Sanwoolu & LASTMA on Twitter also tag media houses concerning It

OP God bless you. I saw how ignorant people were commenting on the vehicle auction thread.

Yes in as much as a lot of drivers in Lagos are crazy, a whole lot of those people whose cars were auctioned were innocent. Some roads in Lagos have no road sign, and u will see some LASTMA officials and Police stationed there waiting for ignorant people to catch and exploit them. I was once a victim.

I was driving out from the MMIA and I was called back, before getting to a particular bridge on that road, theres an opening for a U turn being used when the road was being constructed. When I got there and wanted to turn to go back to the airport, I noticed a toyota camry coming from the other side of the road and blocking me, even though there was enough space for both of us, After a while he drove off only for a hummer bus to block me and some police men and LASTMA officials jumped down in a gestapo style and rushed into my vehicle.
We drove down to LASTMA office and They claimed I was driving one way, I was mad but my car was already in their yard and they were threatning me they will auction it. I have to make some calls and my car was released to me. When I was about leaving their yard, I suggested to their boss that that place should either be blocked completely or a no u turn sign placed their so that ignorant people won't keep falling prey there, he simply laughed and asked me if I want to close that "SHOP" I was simply dumb founded.

Most driveways in Lagos have zero road signs as such innocent and ignorant commuters always fall prey to those wolves in uniform.

Lagos State government should as a matter of urgency improve in their road signs especially on the mainland where there a lot of "one way" drive ways.

Thank you very much for this write-up. It is one of the few in this tread that make sense. People in authority in NIgeria are just preying on their citizenms' ignorance and when you say something the citizens just resign to fate and say: it is well.
With this type of behavior, it is not well. People just need to rise up against it! There is a Governor in Lagos. And after all this nonsense that is going on in his state, he will come back to the same citizens they are maltreating and still ask for their vote to go back to the office for another term. It is so rediculous!

The policemen deliberately removed the signage for them to apprehend people
Re: No Sign Indicating 'One Way' On Oworonshoki Road by crusufixo(m): 1:07pm On Sep 16, 2022
I almost fell for this recently. I was not familiar with the place as it was my first time in that area. The police were not too far and I was almost entering and I was not sure of the direction to take. There were just there staring at me from afar ( perhaps waiting for me to enter ). It was a kind passerby that stopped me and warned me that I was about entering one way. The person later went ahead to give me the correct direction. I could see the disappointment on the faces of the policemen as I reversed. We may not be far from the truth when we say that these police officers remove the one way sign.

One thing they take serious outside the country is road signs

Of course!! But there will always be signs to guide motorists unlike here where anything goes and some people here are justifying the nonsense the LASTMA and their likes are subjecting them to.

Roads like that are many in Lagos, no sign to know you're entering One-Way.

Lastma, Police and Agberos lay ambush.

Wish i had stoopid money, i would've taken LASG to court. There should be a judicial pronouncement that makes it illegal for Police or Lastma to arrest anybody that makes the mistake of flouting the One way rule because there isn't a visible sign.

Most people don't know

These ones are worse. The Dopemu bridge becomes one-way at 3 pm. You cannot go from Akowonjo to Dopemu anymore but can go from Dopemu to Akowonjo. There is a sign there but it is hidden behind a tree. Most drivers will miss it and even the few that don't will only notice it after climbing the bridge. Yet, those LASTMA and traffic officers will stay at the top or end of the bridge waiting to arrest innocent drivers that default that law.
Na police dey there ,highest na 3k you Roger them and they leave you .
Do you know the one way signal is very small and it is hidden under tree leaves ?
There is another one which disgusts me , there is a street called Daramola along AKOWONJO road beside a filling station called first Royal , LASTMA officials hide behind a shop at the entrance of the street when coming from D dems at AKOWONJO road , the place is dark and they hide behind the shop waiting for one way drivers thereby neglecting their primary responsibility of regulating traffic

I know the sign is hidden behind a tree and agree with the police officers being there most of the time. But LASTMA goes there once in a while. They position someone at the middle of the bridge, around the stairs, with the rest standing by their vehicle at the end of the bridge. You'd have passed the center of the bridge before you see them. And if you try reversing, the one in the middle of the bridge shows up and enforces an arrest.

The poster is very correct.
I lived in that neighborhood for ten years, very close to the zenith bank he mentioned.

The truth is that the police officers in front of the fueling station there always wait for you to fall victim.
There is no sign and they will never tell you it is one way till you enter.

Very annoying set of people.
If you go there now, u will still see their vehicle parked waiting for a victim for Friday beer!

A proper one way road signage (US)
What stops Lagos from having eligible signs like this ?

True. Also Akoka UNILAG Abule Oja.

Very true bro. I was once caught driving thru that road to link UNILAG Road when I was trying to avoid the Montgomery/Agnes/Our Lady traffic one day on my way to pick my kids from School.

Incoming Danfos were flashing me with the Head Lamps but I did not get what they were saying with the head Lambs na my kids they my mind because I was really running late that day because of traffic.

Long story short, the Policeman collected my Driver's Licence ( he has about 20 to 25 with him). I had to pay not because I was afraid of penalties or fines but because of my kids in school. It was around 5:45pm and School closes by 3pm.

The street is not one way . When coming from akowonjo road , instead of going turning in front of the filling station opposite the UBA bank so you don't get to egbeda bus stop due to yellow buses and korope plying that route (traffic) , there is a demarcation say 20 meters , some cars enter the other lane of the road which is actually a one way traffic to enter Daramola street and beat egbeda bus stop traffic
