I won't advise you to buy a lead acid battery because of sulphation as there is no solar to recharge the battery when it is low in the absence of mains electricity, lithium cells suffer no sulphation due to partial charging. I will advise that you increase your budget to around 300k, a 100ah lifepo4 battery with a 12v 1.2kva tbb inverter will do the trick. Battery around 180k, inverter is around 83k. Wiring and installation will take the remaining money

There is a difference between idle/no load consumption and the inverter self consumption (energy lost or used by internal components when inverting DC to AC).

Most people obsess over the idle consumption whereas they should be more interested in the self consumption when the inverter is actually doing work - this is not linear and varies based on loads.

The problem is not helped when most users heavily oversize their inverters e.g use a 5kva inverter when loads are within 1kw on average.

@bolded... Bros, you hit a very important factor oh. I did some tests on various cheap inverters, both pwm and PS ones and constantly got efficiency of btw 63% to 67%, thereabouts. Tests were for less than 5% rated capacity consumption, to full load consumption. These tests were for both purely resistive loads and otherwise.

That is atleast 30% DC power lost!!

I don't know if high end inverters, or other technology types like low frequency inverters offer better efficiency. I would like to know them if they exist.

Thinking of alternatives, I do wonder if high voltage, dc boost conversion will offer better efficiency if line losses are taken care of by increasing the output voltage slightly. Wdt?
