The special benefit is that on Tier 2 you are on the 5 year route to ILR, while on PSW you are on the 10 year route.
As she still has 3 months to go on her Tier 4, obviously, they can wait for up to that 3 months for the COS to appear, and if for some reason it delays that long, then she can apply for the PSW. The entitlement to the PSW no go expire until the Tier 4 visa expires.

In addition, PSW isn’t cheap especially for a family. It’s more or less like the last resort

At the bolded, virtually no HR department will accept that.

However, not every employer who might be willing to sponsor will state that in a job ad, it is very possible that an employer might decide to sponsor post-job offer after assessing the candidate's immigration status. On the other hand, for an employer who is not willing to sponsor, virtually no-one will employ you with 3 months left on your current visa and absent any evidence of a pending application for its renewal or replacement. The decision is really yours to make.

Again, recruitment generally takes a bit of time between the advertising of the vacancy, and the shortlisting and invitation of candidates for interview, so depending on where your husband's background check has progressed (these things usually come back after max 1 month), you could have some applications in and progressing with the expectation that your husband's COS will have come out and you guys will have put in your Tier 2 applications by the time a potential employer is conducting a right to work check.

HR responses are always wordy cheesy

Depending on the number of years the COS covers, PSW is not more expensive than a non health and care Skilled Worker visa.
The standard 3-year Tier 2 visa application fee from inside the UK is £720 per person, plus £624 IHS per year per person.
The 2 year PSW is £700 per person, plus £624 IHS per person.

No real difference. Na the people wey dey the health and care dey "enjoy", no IHS and cheaper application fee.

Thanks, this makes sense. I dont know about the 1 month max cos he has practically been the one chasing the HR in the NHS hospital. They only take actions when he calls or sends an email. Let me not say they are not doing anything but It also happened to someone else 1 know.

I will try this. Thanks
Solumtoya:

Start applying immediately. If asked about Visa and the company you're applying to isn't willing to sponsor, just state that you're entitled to a 2-year PSW Visa which you should be activating when your current visa expires. Hopefully, your husband's clicks before then. You don't need to mention your husband's visa till it clicks. I know, first-hand, that this works.
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Preshyi: 3:39pm On Sep 19, 2022
To add to this. We wouldn't need to pay almost 2k per person just for PSW when we can switch directly to Tier 2.

Oh, your husband's job is in the NHS, is it? All the more reason for you to hang on for the COS, because a health and care visa is way cheaper than the PSW.

It's a well-known thing that NHS recruitment can take some time, unfortunately. When I stated 1 month, I was referring to the usual outsourced background checks we undertake here (private sector), and I've never known those to really delay a new start commencement beyond that time frame.

IMHO, the logic here (#enrichment) apply to the 3rd candidate. Sadly!
And this is not just Pandora. To those that know, they'll unfortunately shake the head with all the shenanigans.
Well, 9ja will have to choose out of the #3 evils, except a #miracle happens.
I'll rather focus on Nigerian rising up to do the needful. At each, consciously and purposely living right (in every little way), shunning and not condoning corruption (in all its facets). Yes, I know that's a tall order.
In any case, this ... tẹ mi mọ lẹ kọja, go on ṣ'oun... malaise must stop.
For now. I continue to Gaise Baba renditions on 9ja ...

Depends on where you get house in Bolton itself. You go add travel time from the house to the railway station.
Bolton station is about 30 minutes or so away from Manchester Oxford Road station, from where you fit use leg reach St. Peter's Square in like 10 mins.

Thought the law was you get ILR after staying legally for 5 years

Very close to the town centre. I am pretty sure there will be Manchester buses 8 to Shudehill and 37 to picaddilly gardens stops close to you. Journey to Manchester is about 50mins with 8 and 1hr 5mins with 37.

Train ticket is 4.90 one way and 7.50 return.

No that partially incorrect . .... only those on a work visa get ILR after 5 years.

Student visa and PSW are not classified as a work visa meaning those years won't count under 5 years rule . However they do count under 10 years rule .... meaning most Student who do Bsc, master, PhD and then move on to PSW and then on to a work visa will typically take almost 10 years to get ILR

Which would you rather do, the 5 year route to ILR or the 10 year route?

In addition to the financial implications of PSW, the length of time is another factor to consider - the reasons for the statement “PSW isn’t cheap…..”

Well, I get his point tho. I know a classmate that was offered sponsorship but not under the health and care Visa. From her calculation, she will pay almost 4k per person for visa application and IHS for 3 years. And this is a family of 4. Total calculation for the whole family to switch to tier 2 is about 16k which is ridiculous. So getting a health and care Visa makes switching to tier 2 easier.
