Man is not tactically good ,playing 52 year old pepe as CB or playing carpenter Danilo as a CB

Well let’s see how it goes at the World Cup ,the coach is just living off euros and nations league tax
the thing tire me coz Portugal has younger talented CBs in Porto’s David carmo, sporting’s inacio and Lille’s Djalo

That Danilo na pure capenter, fulham’s palinha is much better

Based on Stats, for a more balanced midfield who are your top picks in the absence of Ndidi?

Here is Onyedika (green) VS:
1. Bonke (blue)
Very similar shape in completeness. But Raphael has the edge in all indices. I’ve never ever fancied Bonke.

2. Onyeka (blue)
Again, similar shape. Onyedika has an edge in all indices as well. Onyeka is better than Bonke in most of the indices.

3. Yusuf (blue)
Similar shape, once again. Alhassan has the slight edge in all attributes but tie Onyedika in one.

4. Nwakali (blue)
Different shape. So far in this analysis, you don’t want to start any 2 of the previous players that have similar shape in completeness. At this point Yusuf has the edge. Nwakali a good candidate to complement. Kelechi has the edge over Onyedika 7, 5 and 9 points in creativity, attack, technique respectively. Raphael thumps Nwakali in defense (9 points) and Tactics (4 points)

Now, wait for Iwobi vs Nwakali and Aribo

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 3:14am On Sep 25, 2022
Iwobi (green) vs Nwakali (blue)

Nwakali has found his match in terms of the shape of pentagon. Iwobi clearly beats Nwakali in 3 attributes. However, where Nwakali has an edge over Iwobi — defense and tactical — Yusuf and Onyedika both do better than Nwakali.

Iwobi (green) vs Aribo (blue)
Similar shape in completeness.
Aribo with the edge in defense only. Iwobi wins in the rest. Yusuf and Onyedika also beat Aribo in both defense and tactical attributes

Aribo (green) vs Nwakali (blue)
Aribo has slight edge in attack and creativity. They tie in defense. Nwakali has a 9 point edge in Technique and 8 in Tactical attributes.

Disclaimer: The comparison takes into account players performances in different playing positions over a span of 2 years (can be adjusted in some cases), the leagues they played weighted accordingly. Hence, this comparison could be suggestive but not conclusive.

How can you beat Switzerland with Pedri and Gavi in midfield.

nwakali's stats are impressive, nice one. But I believe iwobi's stats should be more, considering his massive improvement in the midfield this season.

Max is 11 years old.

I showed him clips of Ronaldinho, Okocha, Neymar, young CR7 and he's asking me why nobody dribbles like they used to do back in the day.

He hardly enjoys watching football with me these days, he considers it boring, he'd rather watch older football videos on YouTube.
Before if an opposition player is standing in front of a player, he'd either dribble the player or attempt to do so. Now they just pass the ball. It kills my vibe. It's so sterile the kind of football being played these days.

They have beaten that same Switzerland with pedri so what’s your point ?

If you watch the game their defense made them lost the game and not even the midfield

Hope you know this same pedri was one of the best midfielder at the last euros ?

If you watch football you will know pedri is already a world class player at 19 ,and gavi is just decent at best

You should have ask the coach why is he still playing azpilicueta and have carvajal at the bench ,and why he is playing with no striker .

football nowadays is too boring and robotic. The game is losing its spark gradually. Even highly skilled players with less work rate aren’t appreciated anymore unlike years back

I said it some time ago here that the likes of jay jay, ronaldinho, zizou, del pierro, baggio, landrup etc would hv been frowned at by coaches of this generation if they were still active

The same reason why the typical number 10 role is fading away. What is applicable in the modern game is the CAM role where playmakers are deployed to drop deeper and help in the CM position on the pitch unlike before when they were given the free will to roam around with less defensive work expected from them
Would Kanu and Berbatov even Maradona survive today's football?

There's a documentary by DW on the death of the 10 that essentially squares with your analysis.

"play making is essential to football, the day that you have no play making is the day the game of football would have to be called something else" - from the documentary

Here's a link to the documentary. It's a 15 minutes watch

The same gavi was man of the match when Spain secured a world cup ticket ,I prefer Thiago over him ,but it’s not anyone fault that Thiago is always injured

This is Spain 3rd lost in about 3 years ,a very good record

Not using a striker and defense cost them the game ,assensio did well though

What if Iwobi is not around.
The reason we need to kidnap that Eze. If we cannot get him, then we integrate whoever is close to Iwobi. And who do we have?? I don't even know

Iheanacho has finally decided to change clubs. The forward joins Zambian club, Zanaco FC on a one-year deal. Congratulations to him.

Make una leave Nwakali to concentrate on his club football. He should forget about National team football for now. I will repeat it again. During international break the league he plays in has matches. You don’t expect the team paying his wages to lose him for international games. Dem go say na bad bele we get… make una free am to concentrate on his club career.

he should at worst be on the bench for International games he is available for...

If Nwakali had played against Ghana, the forwards would have been getting through balls from him and the forward players with pace will have more chances to score.. he would also attempt long range shots...

the national team has 5 players who give through passes and only 2 of those 5 are usually called up and play games.. the 5 players Ihenacho, Iwobi, Nwakali, Olayinka, Amoo... S.E needs players that play as a team not players that see themselves as the hero of the team...

Aside his creativity, Eze's set piece abilities are another reason why we need him.. Currently,we don't have really good set piece takers .. Iheanacho is our best, but he isn't a guaranteed starter anymore due to his lack of game time and form at Leicester.. Simon and Etebo are decent takers too, and Bassey also .. But Eze is really better than all of them in that department...

Like I've said before, Rohr is the reason we didn't get Eze on time ..After the world cup, he was supposed to try new midfielders, bit he kept using Mikel, Ndidi, Etebo and Ogu. Iwobi was shuffling between the wings and the midfield until Mikel retired...
Peserio shouldn't make the same mistake .

Nwakali is rated the best player in his team at the moment. One of the top rated in league as a whole. If he can do this all season, he has finally arrived.

On a side note, tribute to tbaba. I believe this was his last post on this thread — maybe not on nairaland.

Pls correct me if I’m wrong

Na you get hate

You are here dissing all Portugal but you had to exclude Ronaldo

Why did Ronaldo ghost against Serbia when they needed an automatic spot to qualify for the World Cup ?

Be there talking about a dissallowed goal since you don’t know what to say

A typical pendu fan boy dissing Portugal squad but excluding his man Ronaldo cheesy
Ronaldo is 38 old already. It is the job of those young ones to do something.
Ronaldo scored against Serbia that was disallowed so he did his best but failed referreing was against him never the less they still qualified.
They would probably had been in the semi final of the nation league by now but they fumbled it after Ronaldo has done all the works for them. So u seee what I'm saying?

Where were this players when young Ronaldo was carrying Portugal on his back?
Where exactly were them?

So till they stepup then Ronaldo will always not be criticise when they fail cause he is 38...at their age Ronaldo was ruling the world.
