there was no way he would have won the ballon d'or as long as he was in the same team with messi. Not like he has won it now tho. He had completed club football in Barcelona by winning the sextuple. He wanted the ballon d'or. Psg at the time fit the frame. A big club in France, possibility of becoming a main player in the team. He thought the influence of psg would have given him the ballon d'or but fate had other plans. He is just unfortunate to play in the same period as messi and Ronaldo because his numbers are actually insane. They are worth atleast 2/3 ballon d'ors. I believe the only reason modric even had a chance to win the award was because Ronaldo was no longer a Madrid player by the time the award was done.

There are even players in our local league.
The problem is that these players are not in the top 10 leagues of Europe and so we dont
want to try them our but then we dont have many players in the top 10 leagues of Europe that
are midfielders.
Most of our midfielders have average careers in Europe and so in that
area we have to lower the criteria out of neccesity

If we can mention Harland etc any naija player can be mentioned here o. Nwakali has started the season very strongly. He only needs to maintain it. Statistically, he has it, but we want consistent top performance for once. Truth is no one can argue for any other midfielder that is available and a regular, besides those already in contention for spots in SE.
