Glasgow Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou promoted Republic of Ireland U21 international of Nigerian descent Bosun Lawal to first team training on Thursday. According to The Scottish Sun, Lawal trained with the first team today at Lennoxtown following the conclusion of the international break. The Hoops have an injury crisis heading into Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash against Motherwell, with uncertainty surrounding the availability of Giorgos Giakoumakis, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Carl Starfelt and Sead Haksabanovic. Concerned by the potential absence of Carter-Vickers and Starfelt, coach Postecoglou is considering his alternatives in the center of defence and invited Lawal to train with the first team with a view to making a decision whether to include the Irish-Nigerian in the matchday squad. Having said that, training with the first team of Celtic is nothing new to Lawal as he got an opportunity to train with the senior squad during pre-season preparations. Although Lawal is a defensive-minded player, he has proved this season that he can score goals with five in ten appearances combined in the Lowland League and Challenge Cup. One of his rivals for a spot in the matchday squad against Motherwell is German-born Nigerian central defender Moritz Jenz. 1 Like |

Speculations have raged that Victor Osimhen will recover in time for Tuesday night’s UEFA Champions League clash at Ajax. Should the Napoli striker make the Ajax game he will come face-to-face with Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey. Osimhen suffered a muscle injury in a Champions League Group A opening clash against Liverpool on September 7. Doctors have suggested he will be fit by the Serie A match against Cremonese on October 9, but reports said Osimhen’s recovery has been ahead of schedule and he could now be ready for action earlier than then. Napoli top Group A with six points after their wins over Liverpool and Rangers, while Ajax are on three points on the back of a big home win over Rangers. 2 Likes |

Shame on those who have decided to leave football and stick to insulting each other. I mean how low can we get? Pages filled with insults and bile with little contribution to football. Worse off are those who keep liking such shameful posts. We all have our opinions so I do not understand the reason for the insults. Just derailing the thread with Egos and English. Both of you should ideally be banned to cool off honestly. 10 Likes |

Soap go soon clear for our eye. Let's be debating which league a player plays in instead of what the said player brings to the fore. How much have we really benefitted from the league a player plays in. Na so we do and truncated Onyekuru. Yall say Super Eagles is not a place to revive people's career. That's why there is no continuity and consolidation. Once a new rave of the moment comes along, we discard the old. Flash in the pans. The Era of Mikel, Victoria and Enyeama is long gone. Wake up and smell the burukutu. Let's stop being sentimental to Utopia that will not come. If na so Westerhof and Bonfrere do, nobody go hear about them today. 1 Like |

We don't seem to talk about Noni Madueke, English U21 player. He is not a hype, he is not a flash in the pan player, he is not struggling to get a team. He is on the wanted list of several top clubs. Yes he is an England youth international but unless he becomes the next Pogba in the EPL when he arrives. He has a lot of competition to get into the Three Lions. Playing for the SE may become an option albeit not his first . But there are several top midfielders all waiting in line to claim a position. 5 Likes |

kennysville: Onyekuru was always suspect able to make it in a less competitive league but unable to make the step up. Add to that injury has not been his friend, he has now dropped to Turkish league. The league you play in has a direct correlation with your quality not entirely conclusive. But it cannot be dismissed. When a players excells in lower league he will get offers to move up. When he remains there is a reason. |

Exactly 24hours from now: Aribo vs Iwobi EPL Battle It goes down at this hour tomorrow. Aribo's Southampton vs Iwobi's Everton. Alex Iwobi is sure to start as Everton's Midfield Leader. Can't say same for Joe Aribo as he has been in and out of the Saints' first XI. Hopefully he starts this particular game for the Naija flavour. 2 Likes 1 Share
