When he (Jesus) was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that," 'they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!' Mark 4:10-12 How is this verse explained in relation to John 16:25? "Though I have been speaking figuratively (paroimia), a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. AntiChristian: Jesus already answered your question. Matthew 7:6 "Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.'' He spoke parables to the crowd, and then explained it to the disciples. Was He not right? The same crowd was shouting 'Crucify Him!" after all the miracles He did before their eyes. 2 Likes |
