Weldon sir can my international drivers license be use in UK?
Yes you can, even your Nigerian driver’s license is good enough. However it’s only valid for a year, beginning from the day you landed in the UK.

Carried meat (fried, smoked and dried), same for fish too. No one stopped or collected it from me.

A bit off topic, but guys I'll be traveling to the UK soon.
Wanna know which food items are banned or contraband over there...

Meat especially I hear is contraband, is Pomo regarded as contraband too?

@Amarathripple and anyone else here knowledgeable or with interest in projects.. I'm looking to get certified asap..looking at Prince 2 agile

Do you have any recommendations for a good and fairly priced learning provider here? Pls share if so.

I like ILX, although I got a discount for mine.
https://www.ilxgroup.com/uk/individual/training/prince2-agile/foundation-practitioner-with-exam/online?gclid=CjwKCAjw7eSZBhB8EiwA60kCW2fcy9W30n5jTYbxrW9DDK2Y9mEgTfro1X23LhYQEi34uzcB2ohx-xoCOL0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Why Prince2 Agile though? To be honest, I don’t see a lot of companies requiring one to have a Prince2 Agile certification as they are a lot more bothered about you having practical knowledge of the Agile methodology (Even though some of them don’t know really practice it, they just throw the word Agile around a lot) they would rather you have either one of these certifications: Prince 2 Foundation or Practitioner, PMP, Scrum Master, CAPM or CPM, Lean Six Sigma or ITIL for the tech companies. But please don’t quote me, as Prince 2 Agile might be good enough. So do what’s best for you.

Also, this is unsolicited but if you can, join a profession body like PMI (Project Management Institute) or APM (Association for Project Management). Not necessary but it can be advantageous as some companies also require this and you get access to various beneficial materials and networking events.

So, if I receive £2,000 in my account from abroad, the tax man will come for his share?

If I am freelancing and get the money sent to my Naija account and then route to the UK, how will the tax man know especially if it wasn't received from the UK and with a company account?

Your naija account is not regulated by UK.

The same guy that made this thread and other threads discouraging you guys in Nigeria from traveling out also made all of these threads when he was eager to travel out. Did he change his mind after his plans failed?

Part of my challenge is also deciding on agile or not, though I have seen that some companies especially tech require agile, the majority do not like you rightly observed.

Bring on all the "unsolicited" pls..I think that suggestion is a good point.

On another note, has anyone successfully (or not) applied for a global talent visa?
I've been contacted time and again by recruiters but mainly for contract roles with very good pay and I'm really looking to get out of the Tier 2 restrictions .. undecided

If its sent to my UK account from say Germany without being linked to my NI, there is no way anyone can nab me

It has to be linked to the NI for anything to be deduced or to be large enough to be flagged as money laundering

My thoughts though smiley

So they require you have the practical knowledge of it, not necessarily the certification. However, the Scrum Master certification would go a long way. Just learn about all the Artifacts and buzz words of Agile and what they entail. You can also get the free Jira plan to practice with as a lot of tech companies use Jira and Azure DevOps. Also, to streamline your knowledge of Agile and to reduce too many questions during the interview, just tell them that the organisation you worked with tailored the Agile methodology to suit their process and then list a few of the Agile buzz words and how it was tailored. Also if you haven’t worked in Software development, it’s a bit unrealistic for them to expect you to know about core Agile. Finally, at the end of the day, whichever company you join, it’ll take some time to adjust into their process regardless of the methodologies they use on their projects.

Regarding the Global talent Visa, that’s also my target. Because that PSW no be am. Also curious to know if anyone applied and successfully got an endorsement.

Yes it is, Scrum.org charges $150 for the foundation certificate - https://www.scrum.org/professional-scrum-master-i-certification

Although for Scrum, I prefer Scrum Alliance as I believe they carry more weight (just my personal preference though, you can go for yours) - https://www.scrumalliance.org/courses-events/search?ctyp=Csm&vo=true&rad=30&tz=my&pg=1

He should take up the offer so he can be dependent to his wife and enjoy the benefits till the get the indefinite leave to remain. If not, he will have to be applying for visitor's visa even if his wife gets the ILR

Not straightforward and requires you to be exceptionally talented with strong recommendations from top people in the industry for you to make a headway. I'd advise you go for skilled worker or scale up visa or better still a startup visa

Global Talent, in a way, is a spin off Tier 1, the part that was covered by the defunct HSMP (which I had b4 collapse). Global Talent now covers more ground. In a way, it bridges the gap between the (difficult to scale) Tier 1 and the old HSMP.
Yes, Global Talent isn't 'straightforward' on face value: however, it's explicit. Yes, Global Talent is geared towards exceptional talents, or niched and high impactful skills. The key is getting #endorsement!
Global Talent is spread across different areas. Two are of interest.
The digital technology route: www.gov.uk/global-talent-digital-technology/eligibility
and the researcher/academic route: www.gov.uk/global-talent-researcher-academic

The digital technology route might appeal to most, especially to those asking on this forum.
Two broad sub-route are getting endorsement based on one's skills set (exceptional or promising) and/or based on enterprising idea through a UK accelerator programme?

The researcher route would appeal to those that are research 'active'. Although a PhD is expected, it is not an absolute bar. IMHO, even if with a Master, one might scale through: your publications and research outputs count. The researcher route has about four sub-routes. The two I consider straightforward are
- Receiving a research fund (NB: this is from a UK listed research agency and not just the ones you get for doctorate research)
- get a (qualifying) research job

[Start-up] www.gov.uk/start-up-visa
This is for 2 years and does not qualify for settlement. However, upon setting up a biz, one can switch to innovator route and start countdown to ILR.
