Flood Alert: Relocate To Safe Grounds, Lagos Tells Residents by Ctorch: 4:57am On Oct 06, 2022
LAGOS-The Lagos State Government yesterday, alerted residents of the state, especially those residing on the banks of Ogun River to relocate upland.

The state government also directed property owners and developers to desist from embarking on any form of physical development without adherence to processes and procedures outlined by the government to provide habitable structures across the state.

On the Ogun River Banks, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello, who issued the red alert, stressed the need for residents to be vigilant.

Bello said the situation might also be worsened by the release of water from Oyan Dam by the managers, the Ogun Oshun River Basin Development Authority which has increased the level of water in the lagoon.

He listed areas likely to be affected to include: Ketu, Alapere, Agric, Owode Onirin, Ajegunle, Alagbole, Kara, Isheri Olowora, Araromi Otun Orisha community, Agiliti, Maidan, Mile 12, Odo Ogun, Owode Elede, Agboyi 1, Agboyi II, Agboyi III.

He said: “The state government is also working in collaboration with the Ogun Oshun River Basin Development Authority to ensure that water releases from the dam have a minimal negative impact on the residents.”

The Lagos Tinubu built...

According to Agbado book of ancient history there was once a city in ruins until there comes a short man who single handedly rebuilt it to world standard with

World class hospital
Rivers banks
World class roads
No slums

In 1970's people make best decisions for future generations, today the generation makes decision that will end with them in their Grave while future generations suffers.

May we never encounter APC again.

God forbid BAT thing

So flooding happens in lagos alone ? What’s wrong with these kind of people for Pete’s sake?
Have you heard of Venice and other coastal cities around the world ? Even in Nigeria, the flooding is going to affect coastal states like Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Anambra, Ogun, Rivers, etc. as at today, Kogi state and most especially, Lokoja is battling this problem. Why does everything about Lagos bring sadness to your souls ? SMH
The difference here is Lagos state taking possible precautions by warning her residents before hands to avoid loss of life’s, while other states are docile as usual.
I don’t blame people like you though, I blame our low level of education and lack of proper parental support back home.

I don't know the road to Lagos and her slums. I don't reside there. There are far more conducive cities in Nigeria and across the borders of Nigeria.

All same God forbid BAT thing.

When it happened in Anambra I hope you read the reactions of your people on this platform? People who live in glass house should not throw stones. To understand me better go and read the thread on Anambra flood incident.

Relocate to where?

By 2050, a fraction of Antarctica will melt and the sea will rise by 70 meters (230 feet), as a result of global warming.

By then Lagos as a state will seize to exist, because it will be submerged.

As useful as water is can be VERY destructive.

They are indirectly telling them to relocate back to the village...

Where are the high grounds that Tinubu Built for this people to relocate to...

Can they afford it ?

Those higher grounds and high brow areas are now the property of the Notorious Drug Baron and his Cronies.

And what lead to that reaction...

This your advice should be given to your people and calabar people like Kate henshaw and co who leave the fact that flooding happens in their own state to run to Twitter because the live on an island in lagos..

Practice what you preach...
