I was born here in the late 80’s and lived here for 3years before being sent back to Nigeria,God bless my parents ,a railway engineer and nurse .They would Later move home in 2007 after 27years .

Justwise You show a lot of ignorance when you dismiss people’s experiences and give advice based on margins of your beliefs.
I said what I said.Even with a Brit pass,we are lowest rated.

Your story does not add up as you add some unnecessary details.

Abeg help a brother.
How do I get a job as an engineer here in the uk.
I have been working in a care home since I arrived here 6months ago on spousal visa.
I studied mech engineering in Nigeria.
Please what do I need to do to be able to work as an Engineer.

I asked you before when you will be returning back to Nigeria considering your opinion about the UK.

I know the answer to that question as i have come across a lot of people like you before

They have nothing good to say about the UK but they will never leave, they blame everything on racism apart from themselves.

Everything doesn't have to be linked to the colour of our skin, we need to know our short comings and work on it rather than always blaming someone else even when we failed because we are not good enough.

The individual was not properly advised or just acting like a ‘money-miss-Road’. No insult intended please.
In some areas, that’s mortgage deposit faa!!

This post reminds me of the proverb - "Those who get their kolanut cracked by a benevolent spirit should not say their peers are not hardworking."

Enough said.

Unrelated: That is exactly the question I always ask moaners.

Recently someone was asking my advice on whether to move and was telling me all sorts of horror stories their relative had told them, to support the stance that UK is bad and Nigeria is better.

So I asked 'Oh does that your relative live in Lagos too now?'

No prizes for guessing the answer lol.

Call it perspire to maguire but people need to lower their expectations when coming in into the UK. You can’t get in, even with your bags of money, and think everything will fall into place as soon as you arrive.

The desperation, if unchecked, will only worsen the housing crisis.

Stories abound of families who got in and couldn’t get accommodation even after several months. Are they homeless today? No!
They ve been able to get a place eventually without breaking banks or encouraging exploitation in the housing system when trying to outbid others.

Offering a year’s rent upfront as an economic migrant ? No be juju be that!
Anyways, I won’t be surprised when I start hearing 2 years rent upfront angry

Those families who stayed months before renting their own place probably paid twice as much for airbnb/hotel per month as they would have in rent. So the cost of staying three months for instance could feasibly have been the cost of rent for six months. So paying for a long time upfront can actually be very prudent financially. Afterall they would still pay the rent anyway.

Some universities are advising students not to resume at all this session because their cities have literally run out of accommodation, so it's not a case of 'perseverance', and it's not desperation that is worsening the housing crisis - there's literally not enough housing for the people in the country and those coming in - it's an infrastructure crisis.

Ultimately, the strategy that will work for everyone differs - let's not be too quick to insult people for taking different routes than we had to.

I mean if you were born here and your mum&dadd lived and worked here for 27yrs surely they are citizens or have ILR, that also means that you are eligible for citizenship, so how did you skip all that and come here on spouse visa?

In 2018 i travelled to Nigeria and a friend visited me, while we were chatting he asked if i have investments in Nigeria i said no and explained t issues i have with investing in Nigeria.

This brother started telling me why its important to invest in Nigeria and not the UK and one of the many reasons he gave was that...one day the white man can decide to strip all foreigners of their citizenship and ask us to leave, no place like home, you are a king and lion bla bla bla

Last year he contacted me asking for info about relocating to the UK as Nigeria situation is unbearable...i remembered to ask him about his comment few years ago but i held my peace.

My point is..no place is heaven but where ever you found yourself make an effort to enjoy it else move...

It is so funny when people stay in Nigeria and argue about UK, I was in Nigeria for over 35 years with my own business,I tell u my brother,I was robbed in one of my office branche which almost cost me my life, I had to close that branch, imagine after graduating no jobs and after suffering to open my business, my own fellow blacks came with gun to rob me of my sweat, I close very early from my office for fear of robbing me or kidnapping me, which affected my business tremendously, I had car to run bolt, but fear of thieves I could not make good money from bolt,
What do you call racist, when in your own country Nigeria without being an hausa or ibo or yoruba I can't get jobs in a good company, I entered Uk in less than one month now and see the beauty of life, constant light, water, good transport system, health system and enough jobs.
The only issue in uk is the harsh weather which is far better than the unrest of mind in Nigeria,I have had enough interviews for work, you get many daily work which you can use to pay your accomodation, feed well, buy nice clothes, send money back to your siblings and still save money,
For those of you that just came looking for work there are many online recruiting firms like indeed, indeedflex to get daily manual jobs where you get about 9pounds per hour, i

If anyone in Uk needs to register just inbox me and I send you my referral code so I fit still add to my money jade
Also for every job arrange your CV to the taste of job you applying
Also when you enter UK find Nigeria that have been there for long, experience is the best teacher

Hi. please did you declare your canada ban while applying to the UK or did you use denied?

I mentioned it o! Where I wrote you will pay Oga Charlie his cut. All income generated in the UK is subject to income tax. Luckily for you because you won't be in the UK and it's just one house, the tax free allowance plus any expenditure will likely leave you with no tax to pay. However once you start scaling up then s24 (make sure you read up on it!) will start to bite.

Thanks a lot. I'll look up the s24 now

I appreciate!

Spot on!
I just laughed when I saw his comment and "aspire to perspire" reply. This country is going through a serious housing crisis ATM! I went through everything you did...but for 2 months. Used all the sites possible plus word-of-mouth. It was so depressing. Ontop the expensive rent that you're willing to pay...no one was willing to accept. Some landlords/agents even rejected upfront rent payment and opt for others applying.

Imagine the pain of going for viewing, doing paperwork etc. And then being told someone else has been given the place. Same outcome....over and over and over again. Accomodation is more rare than gold in the UK today! Thank God the word-of-mouth search finally paid off and it came at the nick of time. Bypassed all the rubbish process and got my keys same day. Such a huge relief!
I was almost depressed. Filling different application forms like you are looking for a job and being told off at the end of the day. Sometimes you go for a viewing and meet like 10 other people viewing same apartment. Before you get home and submit your application, boom the house is taken.
Mind you, me and my husband work full time, non smokers, no pets, no children cheesy. I thought these would help but for where? angry

I doubt

Gotta do that registry stuff as far as I know

You can check the home office website if there's a way around it

So sorry, I know the feeling! Accomodation is now kryptonite. I feel there should be a law to limit number of applicants per advert. Should be illegal for landlords to be using would be tenants to catch cruise. It should be basic info...where you work, income level, background check etc. For like maximum 5 ppl. Then you proceed with your candidate. If person falls through, go with backup option. Not dozens of application per house. Just compare with the ease of paying for house you like on the spot in Naija. First come first serve!

Yes if you been living together but the burden of proof that you have to produce is a lot. If you have then you are try , google unmarried partner, there lot of info on Google

you’ve been living together in a relationship for at least 2 years when you apply

Think it works better if you're applying together not when one is here and the other is still in 9ja

Viruses:

We all know recourse to public fund is against some visa conditions. It is boldly written on BRPs.

The help you can offer here is to mention the govt dept sponsoring the program so that people will avoid it as not everyone may be lucky to encounter the lady you encountered.

You didn't get it so no need to fear competition.

Yes. It doesn't have to be a married partner, but that means the burden to prove a 'subsisting relationship' becomes drastically higher. You must be ready with things like joint accounts, shared bills, chats, flight tickets etc etc.
