You should have noticed by now that I deliberately never quote you or respond to your quotes.

But I'm going out of my way to politely ask you to NEVER quote me when you choose to exhibit your typical immaturity.

Please, do NOT quote me again.

I'd rather have civil conversations with people who can conduct themselves in public.

In the pictures below, to me oh . . . The only thing that the Volkswagen used in defeating the bmw is that the needle and dials had a different tone of colors if not they are the same thing undecided

Maybe it’s just me but I hate the use of the same color of led bulbs on more than 90% of the instrument cluster lighting except it’s in white cool

He went all caustic when I corrected him. Lol. It may interest 735i to know that blue colours are some of the most distractive colours at night and VW used the blue backlit instrument clusters in 90s-2000s. So they’re now wiser than the Japanese who decided to follow a natural white colour instrument cluster.
As much as we are here chatting and having fun, do not for once think that you’d try to bring up fallacies, and everybody will swallow these fallacies hook, line and sinker!

Blue backlit dash are horrible and distracting at night, yet VW used it. So, did they not researched before implementing these things?

One of the best lights to have in a dashboard is diffused white lights. It is aesthetically pleasing and easy on the eyes and when brightness levels are adjusted accordingly, it driver can read all he needs to read easily and quickly both in day and night driving times.

Exactly. I can never get why those manufacturers used those horrendous blue and red lights in the old models. Thankfully they’ve learned from their mistakes.

Truly these Japanese people tend to think ahead of their time in many things concerning the automobile industry.

Till date Toyota still has the best hybrid system on any vehicle, go figure.

Won?
I didn't know we were debating. I simply shared my perspective on an issue. That's all.
This same question of dashboard illumination was posed daily by BMW owners until BMW engineers explained the rationale behind the orange lights.

Their explanation makes sense to me till this moment. And frankly, that's all that matter to me.

Then why did they now change the cluster design of their more recent models to have just white lights?

I think you should go back to those forums or groups where bmw owners first queried the company concerning the red lights to know why their rationale was no longer viable today undecided

Or safe to say they were making a mistake all along wink

Fallacy? Like I made it up? Did you bother to double check if its true?
Or because you've never heard this explanation it automatically makes it false?

You can have an opinion about the orange lights and that's totally fine. It remains what it is: your opinion.

I can choose to have the orange light over the white light. "Choice". It's my choice .

It's called R & D .
Changes are made based on research.
The switch to white lights doesn't necessarily mean that the orange lights were a mistake.
That Toyota has 8 speed automatics today doesn't mean the previous 6 speed automatics were mistakes.
No. Technology evolved.
Simple

Well I can’t argue with the bolded but unless you choose to keep driving the dated models of those vehicles you must now have to make do with their new white led illuminated cluster designs wink

Can't speak to older models. But my '14 5 series has white light during the day.
It only turns orange when you turn on the parking or headlights.
Funny enough, if the headlights are on in daytime, the instrument cluster remains white.
The change in the instrument cluster from white to orange is controlled by sensors that are completely independent the headlights.

Whenever you’re sitting in a vehicle and driving, there are only two places your eyes are supposed to be.

1. The windscreens/windows to see where you’re going

2. Your instrument cluster on your dashboard to see your speedometer and warning/fault lights.

I have no issues with the number 1, is the number 2 that gets to me cry

Okay night night driver cry

I'm slightly bemused at the comments here.

The orange lights in the interior of the BMW is a deliberate design to minimize eye fatigue during night driving.

In developed nations where road safety is a thing, driving all through the night is quite normal.

White interior lights will strain the eyes way faster than the orange lights used by BMW.

The Germans know this. That's why MB, VW and Audi won't do that tacky white lights you'd see in Japanese cars.

It's actually amusing to see people compare the lighting and ambience of a 5 series to a Camry. Smh.

That argument is exhausting .I'm done with it ..people that like BMWs actually wouldn't care about dash board illumination.

I'm yet to see anyone say a car must have white light on the dash before I buy it .

I've never really noticed that dash board lights thing .
But I remember driving cars like vw golf .vw toureg .opel zafira ,Honda Accord .Honda Element and sharan ..all had yellow lights on the dash .
I'm sure some Toyota have them .I've only driven some at noon .so I've never noticed .
I thought this thread was to educate us on why we should own a BMW?
This arguments is just derailing the thread, pls be focused and forget the distractions.
Am trying to learn.

People online are crazy tbh grin grin

If bmw are truly worth the hype, why don’t commercial vehicle operators and fleet management use them like the way Japanese vehicles are used. Try using a BMW for bolt or Uber for 4months if it survives it, come tell me how much you spent on maintenance and let a bolt or Uber operator using a Corolla bring his own maintenance log book too!

When it comes to reliability everybody knows that once a bmw crosses 150k miles it has a 90% chance to suddenly become a money pit no matter the amount of careful maintenance the owner has put into it.

I’m still waiting for 735i to show me his instrument cluster till now undecided

Note that I'm now on 217k miles. Got it at almost 200k miles.
This talk about reliability is really for people who do not know how to maintain their vehicles.
I can wake up at 3am and decide to hit Asaba without fears.
Some of your so called reliable cars will not dare.
How many Japanese cars in Nigeria are over 200kmiles without Christmas lights all over their dash?

2nd pic : kai! shocked Ugly, ugly, masquerade cluster design angry What rubbish . . .

But seriously

Assuming the design was inverted whereby the hideous red type was visible in the daytime and the white was displayed at night I’d give your ride a 90% pass mark wink

The layout is nice . . . But the light pattern is just meeh sad
