But don't you think their stand is legitimate and it's for the future of Universities?

Their stand is not legitimate and it’s not for the future of our universities but for their selfish benefits.

The judges can enter classroom and begin where ASUU stop. The judiciary has kowtowed before politicians.

The Union is fighting for the betterment of the students ( infrastructure, equipment and funds for research ).

They don't need to go on strike to achieve that.
ASUU should stop lying and deceiving nuc officials during accreditation exercise.

They should be opened and allow any program lacking in areas of infrastructure and equipment to lose accreditation. That way the VC and senate will be forced to act to get it back.
Lecturers are fond of rigging the process but will be the first to start crying about inadequacies once the officials are gone.

They are also quick to hide under this guise to present their selfish demands.

ASUU main interest is to be on huge salaries to live luxurious life, even though that's not bad but they can't continue to waste students time to try and achieve that.

What if ASUU resumes tomorrow and begin another strike after 2 weeks? Shebi na to obey court order? Lol

Anyway, I hope they resolve this whole thing quickly for the sake of Nigerian students. Someone got admission to study in Unilag in 2019. This is 2022 and he's still in 100 level.

foolish ASUU. no union is bigger than Nigeria

The union is fighting the course of Nigerians and Nigerian students. While the ministers, politicians and judicial officers don't care because their children are schooling abroad

If they refuse, the Federal Government should enforce the Judgment of the Court by deregistering them grin

The government should not stop at that.

Vice-chancellors must account for hundreds of billions worth of TETFUND grants they have embezzled.

The lecturers must also write apology letters to students and add 20 marks to the score of students because you cannot stay 8 months at home blocking highways and bullying online without forgetting what you were taught in January. It should be a criteria for paying them the 8 months salary they didn't work for.

For more than 40 years, ASUU has shattered the dreams of great Nigerian students.

Below is a picture of ASSU strike being called off in 1981. My mother had just started Primary School in 1981. 41 years later a useless congress of indecent academicians are still frustrating students.

u cannot buy judgement and enforce anything. The government cannot even take them to court on grounds the government itself accepted, promised and failed to meet.

It is impossible.

if by dictatorship u deregister them they will reregister. grin

Ebubu:

The government can't do shit until there is an agreement court or no court. The is no valid court that will order such unless a dictatorship bought over or compromised court.

Nobody begged them to fight for students by making students lose an academic session

A hungry man is an angry man. You certainly wouldn't want your ward to be taught by a lecturer who has not been paid by 7 months.....

But the lecturer hasn't worked for seven months, why should he be paid? Who will pay the student for the lost time?

The best government can do is half pay!! Why will the lecturers collect full pay and nobody pays the student

If Govt is the one that asked for a stay of proceedings/execution and refused to obey court order like ASUU did with the order of the Industrial Court, SERAPNigeria, EiENigeria & all the other jobbers ipob obituary would have been up in arms. oga due process would have roared from all corners.
It was ASUU that scorned the Industrial Court, proceeded on appeal for a stay of an interlocutory order and all the pretenders to rule of law kept mute. The Court of Apeal advised parties should think of the nation & settle, but ASUU did not do this. Now the Court of Apeal has affirmed lower court.
Let me explain in layman's terms why ASUU's position is puerile:
(a) The case in court filed by the FGN is to submit all the issues between ASUU and FGN to jurisdiction of the court for adjudication.
(b) The FGN applies for interim order for ASUU to resume lectures WHILE the main case is being tried. That is; pending the determination of the substantive case.
(c) This is what we call INTERLOCUTORY ORDER in law. This order does not mean that the FGN has won or ASUU has lost. That will be decided down the line.
(d) Interlocutory orders are given to minimise damages or preserve the res as we say in law. The court was simply saying, do not let the sufferings of the students and lecturers continue. They can still be in school while we continue with the case and determine it. Everyone should see how reasonable this is abi? But ASUU refused to return to classes and instead went on appeal against an order to protect students & lecturers.
(f) In law an appeal does not operate as a stay thus ASUU should have obeyed the court order and then appeal. ASUU is represented by a SAN who knows better abi?
In conclusion, let us see if Falana SAN will still tell his clients to disobey the Court of Appeal. I have told you many times about the Falana wayo wayo. He won't relent until he is disgraced. The story of ASUU. The end.

My prayers is that this will be the end of ASUU. They've been striking for over 40 years

Why are you happy that students are at home? Must you go for strike b4 you can resolve issue. They shud think out of box

Meanwhile, the government and ASUU are still dodging the real issue...whether to imprve university funding by raising fees, or taxes.

At the end, ASUU is going to call off its strike, but the elephant in the room remains.
