Why won't they strike when a professor that has worked for close to 30 years earns around 350k
Bro that pay doesn't make sense sincerely!
There was never a time Nigerian governments are interested in education.
Go to neighbouring African countries and see how they provide loans for indigent students, work and study, e.t.c
Come to our labs and see rats, outdated equipments.
Please let's call a spade a spade!
Nothing happening is ASUU'S fault.
That's how it started in primary and secondary schools, now the private sector has taken over those ones. When you send your child to govt primary or secondary school these days you seem like a joker!
A graduate teaching in these govt schools earns 38k in my state. Imagine? What can he do with it bro??
And you're expected to work continuously morning till evening.
I CAN ONLY SAY THE GOVT HAVE SUCCEEDED IN BRAINWASHING US NOT TO SEE THE REALITY IN THESE THINGS!
They need people to pressure them, I wonder what will happen if ASUU has kept quiet as you guys wanted!
A govt that proposed 300k minimum school fees in 2017 and ASUU refused. Today everybody is blaiming ASUU
It is well
!
I never heard of this. Where did u manufacture this fromhuh

There's no smoke without fire, election time is here.Your suddenly remorse and apology is not without politics and bribing the masses for the coming election. Can pepper change it's attitude? Or can Ethiopian change her colour?, Continue. Monkey go go to market and never return.

We don't need their apologies, we don't need their compensation, all we need is for them to remove the age brackets (30years) and the unwarranted years of experience when applying in any federal government jobs, even private owns too

Yes, they should. There is no where where I justify corruption.

But the thing is, universites have to keep on making or getting a lot of money. Returing the loot would only help for a few years...assuming we put in the universities. It is what happens when the loot has been spent that is the issue.

Like how do we fund things like overheads, accomodation, upgrading of facilites, funding of research facilities, research grants, even things like university schools, hospitals, et al? On a yearly basis.

Loot can only go so far.

The USSR when it came into being in 1917 took the loot from the rich...and it worked...till they ran out of loot.
Yes I share your sentiments too. Many of these services come too cheap here. Just like the case of subsidy. Removing will be far better for the nation on an ideal condition. However I am skeptical about it. Remove it and the money will end in people's pocket is my only fear

There's even a secular I saw where ASUU wrote against it, and NANS planning on massive protests if that should happen.
Bro, this govt no dey sincere, these things are NOT entirely ASUU'S fault as people are claiming.
I think ASUU should let govt do that so we can see who is sincere!

Well, the man could have ended the strike by increasing fees to a million naira minnium

Which you would not have liked, but would have helped to solve the funding issue...which is the main reason why ASUU goes on strike.
What are they using the ones they collect for

They generate billions monthly but no acoiunt on it

Many institutions you say? The only one they registered and promised August salary and arrears,
Did they fulfill the promise bro?
They will register new ones and still fail to attend to the terms of registration.
No be juju be thathuh
yeah that’s Nigeria government motor promise and fail but at list the new union create bring ASUU to negotiation table. That’s mission accomplished for them an for students 8 months is too much for someone to stay at home

Did u bother to read what u posted. There is nowhere FG proposed what u are saying. It's only ASUU claiming fake news. Try to read without bias. Besides it's not the cost of fees that's the issue, rather the payment of same. If u want quality education it comes at a price. Harvard, Yale, oxford etc aren't cheap. What u should be talking about govt providing subsidies, allowances and scholarships to students. But ASUU doesn't want it that way, they rather govt give them the money so that they can appropriate as they like

no and they shamelessly call off strike because there’s competition now FG registered many institutions to canter their selfishness, more like FG divided their camp with politics, giving junior staff and others power to stay on their own. ASUU didn’t control all academy stuff now.
Buhari's Government is not joking with them

Stale! Medicine after death....... Apology to be accepted on one condition, "students should be lay off the new session tuition fees" or " a 50% pay cut on the next tuition fees payment"

Then we will all sound alright.

That's the problem. The billions we generate are not enough to sustain quality universities

That is even before looting comes in.

Everything Buhari promised you guys prior to 2015 where was it written?
NOT FAKE NEWS, when ever I lay my hands on that secular I will bring it here for the sake of this, no matter the confidentiality. It was dated 2017 and addressed by the National ASUU to the state branches on what FG is proposing!!
Besides you're subtly opposing yourself, "Quality education comes at a price" you say!
Why then against the increment and claiming ASUU is paddling fake news. Even Ngige said it in this current negotiation!

It's called Circular not secular. You obviously don't know what you are saying. If there's a circular it means it's binding on universitiea to charge the amount u are saying. But obviously it isn't, so your information is false. ASUU can say whatever they like to their branches, but FGN clearly made no such order.
Which increment are u talking abouthuh I actually believe professors are paid poorly, compared with their foreign counterparts. But this is a national problem, not only professors. Even judges, civil servants and doctors are poorly paid. The only diff is that ASUU has students to use as a bargaining chip. They rely on the anger of students to force FGN to have their way. Unfortunately this time it didn't work.

(Circular, thank you very much)
It was a direction by the National to the branches to resist any tuition fee increment the FG will mandate through the VC's!

Is not by writing on news lines thanking parents and students for their Supports shown upon the calling of the strike. That's good, then what will the government do for the students on their house rent that have expired

Apology accepted.

Let's be frank to ourselves. Federal Government alone cannot fund tertiary education.

In 2019 Budget, Federal Govt budgeted over N17B to ABU Zaria and ABU Zaria generated less than 4 billion naira in the same year.

Must Federal Universities in Nigeria Charges between N25,000 - N40,000 per year. Most primary schools pay higher than that.

If Nigeria want to compete globally, then she must do what others are doing.
Even if we are paying #1m in federal universities, they will still embezzle it..so what is the point in increasing school fees?
