Take this comment I'm dropping here to any part of Nigeria as a proof.

The Lagos government and the entire Nigerian federation can never shut down ALABA INTERNATIONAL MARKET.

They don't have the power to.

Do you think it's easy to take away what feeds them?

Grow up stupid. You should be wiser than this.

Don't mind those jobless fools.

They can't come out in the open to say that, but prefer to display hatred on Social media.

This might be a political instigated violence and it won't Favour Tinubu. election season in Nigeria is a time for carefulness in every aspect.
I don't think so, the problem is that most igbos always feel too sensitive and becomes overreacting when issues that involves ethnicity takes place considering the election matter, I believe this is not the first time they've been paying their taxes in that market, but why is it atm they felt the tax payers are too demanding that they'll stop been cooperative, it's norms in every lagos market that traders are expected to pay their taxes irrespective of your ethnicity, the last time the Abokis at iyana iba refused to pay theirs it resulted to this kind of situation.
I hope each side could settle things amicably cos on the long run it's the traders that'll feel the heat.

You said more than that before ladipo market was shut down twice during fashola regime.
Who would hold the lagos govt if they decide to shut it down??nobody

Is the market shut down till today?

Do you even know the meaning of shut down.

Don't confuse suspending activities in a market to shutting down.

There are 2 different meaning.

Stop talking nonsense. Do you get raised daily in Kano and Onitcha? Stop saying trash. How do you pay federal tax, state tax, local government tax and agbero tax (daily)? Even someone hawking come get taxed by agberos. Are you okay?

No one will reason this way but will be quick to condemn the tax collectors. The problem is in Onitsha, it's Igbos taxing Igbos. Believe me if the tax collectors used by lagos state in Alaba were Igbos, no one will raise eyebrows

Oga Igbos don't over tax themselves the way Tinubu boys do.Take for instance transportation,a bus driver only pays in the park but u will never agberos poll to poll as it is in Lagos. They dare not do such in Onitsha or wat happened in 1997 would repeat it's self

cry cry baby. I have not stereotyped anyone. After all they are not the only traders in lagos and many of them also work in corporate world . Some of una want to dish out what you cant take in your places. You can own lands and build houses in kano, lagos, abuja, ph etc. abeg show us one property owned by an outsider in south east. You dont even sell lands easily to outsiders. Abeg give us a break. The taxes are too much agreed, but you think you can use violence in another’s mans land Big mistake that may have repercussions

Shame on you for this post.
There are people who are not of South East Origin who own houses in Onitsha GRA and even independence layout in Enugu.

The Lecturers who taught at UNN that are now retired married locals and BOUGHT homes; and even own their own businesses in Enugu AND Anambra

Go to Ochanja market and see the Yoruba guys dominate the plastic markets there

And the stereotype in the SE is that Yoruba hand work people do the job better; hence the masons and tailors making a killing in Aba.

All these things can be verified

Shame on you for descending into the abyss of bigotry.

To think I thought you were different.
Shame

If you are ignorant of something; you ask; instead of making conjectures.
From the comments you made; you have NEVER been to the South East.

Anyways na you Sabi
Who your bigotry help ?
It does not change anything in the real life

Im just disappointed that this can come from someone who is supposed to be "exposed"

Let the Igbo return home. Only a fool ignores his father's burning thatched roof hut to clean up the ashes of another's burnt mansion. What's it that's making the Igbo fleeing Eastern Nigeria in droves like refugees all the time? Come on, the deity of one's ancestors does not scare a true born child of the home. Return home, and rebuild the broken hedges of your fathers' houses.

Do you know this has happened before? 25 years back same thing happened in Alaba. It was a riot. This is not right. How do you pay federal, state, and local government tax, then pay agbero tax? I heard the tours increased thier illegal fee today for another person goods and they got angry. I even heard the hausas in Alaba arago join the fight against illegal extortion.

It is very annoying when some Yorubas claim that Tinubu or that Yorubas built Lagos, Lagos was FCT for 77 years built by the sweat and resources of every tribe even before Tinubu became governor, just Imagine Abuja that has been FCT for just over 30 something years, then the Gbagyi people begin to lay claims to the development of Abuja and insulting other tribes that they are Lazy, wouldn't it be an insult to every other tribe in Nigeria...

And please don't bring the bullshit of Enugu or Calabar as FCT, please state the number of years they were...
Lagos is different from Lagos state.
