@op your worries are valid, especially in Nigeria where so much emphasis is placed on things that should not matter. If you have an IT skill polish it up to the point where you can deliver measurable value to organizations. A point where you can say, if I do this for your organization, there will be for example a 10% increase in your customer base, or if i do this for you this cost you are incurring before will go down by 2%. Then you won't have any problem getting a job in IT. And I believe this will be applicable in every industry.
- If you can gather some financial resources and have the ability to study, you can also consider relocation for postgraduate.
- dont focus too much on your age, its not like the jobs are sure even if you are younger(use that to console yourself) and just focus on self-development.

Ask those people that apply for graduate trainee in banks, finance companies and co

You can look for administrative roles at the moment, even if it's in your church or somewhere not so formal and add that as experience, then start up your own thing too as additional experience. Eventually as you apply you will find some jobs with no age barrier that will give you a shot of they see you are developing yourself

Get additional qualifications e.g msc, coren, Ican, CCNA, MIT etc

Get a digital skill bro e no easy, build experience

Just start business bro..... Imagine your juniors will be in higher grades than you. If i was employed as soon as i finished school at 22. I for don dey equivalent to Colonel in Army or Captain in Navy.

My guy just finished at 31 and had two job offers waiting for him. He just resume work on his birthday.

Here is the catch...
He does not know any highly places persons but grace and strategy came through for him.

In the month of June, he paid for an oil and gas conference and attended as a corpa. There was no company name on his tag asides from NYSC. God's favour endeared him to CEOs and the rest they say is history.

Don't sit down bemoaning your situation, be very intentional about your success.

If you are yet to have a tangible hot skill to sell like: data analysis,

Start from anywhere:

Look for jobs in Customer Care, or Marketing.

Then plan to leave that job in Six months, by:

1. Getting a skill.
2. Networking with people.

Now how do you get a job since you dont have one now.

1. Go to LinkediN:
snap your finest picture. headshot. clear.
Look for people who do what what you want to do, model your profile after theirs.
Headline, etcs.

2. Once you are done tweaking your profile.
look for people that have "recruiters " on their profile.

Brother, forget about applying for jobs, except you're sure that you will be doing a VERY good job with better pay; a pay that is comfortable in reference to the current Nigerian situation.

The few VERY good jobs that one may find are not for people without years of cognate experience. The usual job for newbies in Nigeria are largely ordinary jobs with a VERY dehumanizing pay. THIS IS NAIJIRIYA!!

If you move on to start applying for non- existing jobs and you finally land one, you might be smiling at the pay just because it's a new job and getting it was a miracle. But as time goes, it is you that will think of your situation and your age.

At that point, you will be the one to realize that you're actually older than all that stuffs.

This is because;

1. It's a miracle you'll get a reasonable boss.
2. All those small small organizations can never pay you anything reasonable.

Advice;

1. If you have a handwork, better. Is the handwork in vogue? Think..

2. If not or no handwork, meet someone or people that you can serve with to learn a VERY good skill, especially in Building. It would help if you have financial support no matter how little it may be.

Continue the hustle and carry yourself appropriately, YOU'LL MAKE IT.

Career change. Let the years before you entered uni fall into a block let's say you worked as whatever......then uni years, then current experience.....
For others reading to learn, you can switch careers at 40 making you a greenhorn in your new field. Eg from medicine to IT, Accounting to Software engineer..... Policeman to pastor( )etc
There is a job for everyone, just continue searching, never give up. Remember to look inwards at some point, you may be wired to go solo

I am not here to tell you anything, but you can make your conclusion from this.

Back in the Uni, in my first year, I shared room with a guy, X, let me say, out of like 6 people in there, 3 I can tell were above the ages of 30 (@100 level).

X was well above 30 and he had HND, and chose to come back for degree and during the process, he did his final ICAN papers. Shortly after graduation, he got a job with UNDP and he was moved outside the country, he had no previous work experience but he was very qualified.

I am sharing the X story because he's the only one I was in contact with after graduation, I lost track of others.
