The final choice still remains with you. No one can stop you if you insisted on marrying her
Good thing is that you know what you are going into.
Generally, the advice is , don't Marty each other. It is only an advice. The ball stops in your court. All the technology been mentioned is beyond me and you.
Re: Genotype: Do People Still Do This In A Relationship? by Originalsly: 9:55am On Oct 25, 2022
I hear you. Bro ... your mind is made up to continue with her regardless. Is her mind made up to continue? ... and be married without children? That will be a bitter pill for her to swallow. Even more bitter is to birth a sickler.....and worse to see the child being tortured by the disease. You need to.do.some research on the disease to get a clear understanding of what's involved.

I lost two of my classmates back then in secondary school through sickle cell disease ,they were both in SSS 3 ,one died before our WEAC ,the other one was after our WAEC,it wasn't so easy for them o . In relationship is better you get to know your genotypes before anything serious or both of you should go for a test ..

Lawd! Just spoke the words outta my mind swears as in Nairaland just full of bitter people, we’ve dump each other several times tho, fate just keep buzzing us together back. Tanks u really a good thinker

You don’t want to listen to advice. Those advice may be bitter but that’s the truth. If you don’t dump each other now . You will regret it when that love clear for your after you start spending money steadily in hospitals.
Best advice anyone will give you is dump each other even if you’re a billionaire that has enough money to spend on hospitals, it will save you the unnecessary stress and sleepless nights in the future. If you don’t leave each other now, you will in the future when the wahala starts.

OP I abandoned my best friend due to genotype issue. I wanted a selective IVF but aside that it's over 4M which is not the problem, the problem will be that your wife will be placed on medications and medical procedures all through the pregnancy, the chances of success is less than 40%

We also considered NIPT but how do u feel aborting babies after 12weeks of pregnancy, moreover one abortion doesn't guarantee u won't abort the next one

Finally she cried I consoled her, she is married today and I am very happy

Be wise

My brother, my candid advice is to let go the relationship. Any option, other than not giving birth, is in itself expensive and you will regret bringing children that will lay curse on you because of love.

You don't consider love, choosing a partner for marriage. We choose compactibility.

Good day! So I’m wondering if people still dump long healthy and lasting relationships for genotype sagas.

Cos I’m not about to lose a very healthy and long lasting 10yrs relationship for nothing.

Do people still dump themselves for this blood Genotype issues, or there are alternatives, this 2022 it’s been long I heard close relatives or friends having issues like that, I’m probably not exposed enough tho.

We both As in genetype, and I’m working on finding a better way to make this work, she’s all I’ve got fr and I’m already in my early 30s.

I’m not a fan of too many child, you can be a great parent even with adoption, but I still want a child with her exactly. She’s has to look like her self lol

Pls what’s your take, can I have this girl to myself or is still the shout of quit?

Keep having kids and birth them you have a chance of getting one AA and two AS

Then if you discover any one to be SS, you deal with it
Re: Genotype: Do People Still Do This In A Relationship? by chrisifeanyi: 10:04am On Oct 25, 2022
This OP are you sure you are up to 30?
Leave that gal and respect your future children.
This was how my friend ignored all warnings because of yeye love. They are suffering it now and sadly na only the man dey donate blood everytime.
Dey there dey talk about stupid love.
Leave her and find someone else with AA. If you marry her to bring in sickle cell children, will you be happy seeing your children suffer?

You have Google on your phone na.....Oh it is your doctor that told you that it is never a 50/50 chance ?? Really?? That doctor that told you so should be fired..he is obviously a quack doctor...

Both of you might have a point here, unless both of you are taking absolute positions.

Sickle Cell screening through IVF for Sickle Cell Disease or trait is not 50/50 chance, it is not Zero chance and it is not 100% either.

The screening only reduces the chances of implementing embryo with Suckle Cell trait or diseases. IVF clinics will disclose this off front to you or put them in their fine prints.

As a result of the chance not being 100% many IVF clinics even after their screening implants many embryos that have passed the screening test into the woman and monitor them as the develop and have to come back to eliminate aka murder the ones that fall-through or reduce overall healthy embryo to the number of desired kids.

Thanks for sharing the success part of this terrible experiences. Thumbs up I’ve seen couples who got married without knowing their accurate status too, they had four kids all AA swears lol

Click on the link above and read. It's been scientifically proven that the Christmas Bush plant is very potent in the treatment of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). The good thing is the plant can be locally sourced. I am in possession of a published scientific journal on its efficacy in the treatment of SCD but it may be too technical for you to comprehend.

Most people here on Naira land are not informed, hence the kinds of comments strewed over this thread.

I heard it is available in so many hospitals today. So you go ahead and marry, remember to test the foetus during pregnancy.

Is she happy if you are ? And IVF is close to %85 success rate read up on it. And more also in your case it’s different, but the fact remains you attempted it for love. I repeat their won’t be any sickle cell child given birth to, No

I have two options, a sound child or be both stop

So sad.
That boy would have been 51 years old this year.

Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!

It's a reality check for all intending couples.

People still do genotype compatibility when a relationship is getting too close for comfort, in-fact it's compulsory, so that you don't give your relationship avoidable headaches.

If you know what some of my "He/She All I've Got For Real" Same AS or even SS Genotype Parents are going through right now after birthing kids, you wouldn't have made this post.

That's is when you know that even your true love fades in months. Even that your "All I've Got For Real Spouse" will change over night and regret your so called marriage.

Don't ask me how I know, I treat their kids so I know.

Though we treat some of them and their SS kids get healed and genotype changed to either AS or AA but it's is a VERY VERY LONG AND EXPENSIVE PROCESS. Please emphasis on the " VERY AND LONG AND EXPENSIVE".

If you are not a person with PATIENCE as an natural inbuilt attribute, dont even try the treatment.
