A lawsuit is a great idea, but it will easily drag on for years, so it should be your last option. Your current options are for you to get in contact with everyone involved/at least most (and let the school know there is more) and send representative(s) to the departments/faculties involved. Sorry about your predicament. I think your exam officer owes you some explanation concerning some news policies that may be affecting or delaying your results approval. Suing the department may not be the best line of action owing to the very slow justice system in Nigeria it may further complicate issues.

Although I am not the only but this dribbling from exam's officer to the HOD to the school senate to the DVC's office is just too much for me. These people seem not to realize the pains I am going through as a result of my inability to lay man hands on my certificate.

Where is my final approved result?

Exam's officer would say he's working on the result (3years on)

HOD would say the result is with him and he has sent it to the school senate/DVC for approval

DVC office would say no such result on their desk

HOD would say again DVC returned the result for corrections

Exam's officer would say again he is till working on the result

Exam's officer would say again bring money for your mobilization, the result has been signed and approved and I would pay the money but won't see anything.

Part of us who graduated that 2019 have gone for NYSC and returned and yet the exact position of the result for those of us remaining cannot be said.

I have lost great opportunities all these while. I have been in serious pains, hardship and thinking too much (almost in depression) about my unemployed status. I have even become source of mockery and gossip to the people around.

It is not even as if I wouldn't get a job. But where is my result so I can apply for certificate and get a job and move on with my life?

I was in your shoes too a couple of years ago in one of the universities in south west,I didn't have a single E in my result throughout my stay at UNI not to talk of carryover,but somehow I was the last person to get my result approved in my department,even people with extra year served before me and got Thier certificate before me. Mine was caused by a nonchalant useless exam officer,since I travel out immediately I finished school I wasn't available to monitor everything and disturb his life,I kept begging and giving him money, sometimes weekly he'll collect 10k, 20k. After a two years I came back to naija because of this issue and went to report him to some influential indegenes in that community,cos I had small connection with the king ,so they called him to other and that scared him a bit and he started working on my result,I waited 3 years before I finally got my result and that was it.
The wait can be frustrating,at a point I told him I didn't mind if I even got a 4th class,just give me certificate make I go.
So just keep your heads up and if you have connections with some people that can call him to order or threaten him use it

All that is required is for the result to be ready from the desk of the exam's officer. The HOD will sign and send over to the school senate/DVC's office to vet, approve and sign and that is all. I don't know why this is taking like forever. It's a pure case of negligence by those involved and that is why I should sue them.

If you are sure you do not have any carryover, write to your VC to complain, threaten that you will go public if the school do not come out with the true state of your final result, if no actions, go and publish your situation with Linda ikeji blog and other notable blogs for thorough embarrassment, they will be forced to act to clear their name.

This happened to my boss at work, he only hired the service of a lawyer friend and the lawyer wrote to the school Registrar that he gave them one month to provide the results of his client. They responded and provided the results before the end of the month.

I just pray your certificate has not been sold.You need to take legal action against the school authority before it is too late.

I was very calm in nature but rugged in Spirit and body, them no born my school that year well when I wan go collect my certificate mk them carry me the dey play bobo juice cuz them know say I'll take every measures to shake the school upandan...they know me n my men for being stubborn and solid in all areas, even my HOD dey use me as back up that year when him get problem with school..

It's either your school does not have the necessary things in place to provide your certificate or they're just playing with your lack of intelligence and ignorance to keep extorting from you until they're tired...

3 years is too long! Are you sure you didn't have carryovers? To many carryovers sometimes makes it very difficult to prepare your final results. Especially if the exam officer has been changed.

Like someone already said, you are only having this problem with your exam officer. Try to pin him down sit with him and all should be sorted out, at least you will know what the specific problem is.

As a senior lawyer, I will advice you dont sue your institution.

Kindly do a letter to the Senate of your school.

Copy the Dean of your faculty as well as the Dean student Affairs.

Submit it in person and ensure it is acknowledged.

If within one month no reply, do a reminder and wait for another one month.

If no reply, proceed to court.

You can sue the school for breach of contract and gross or willful negligence. Please sue along side others suffering the same symptoms.

I suppose the student handbook and code of conduct aptly stated when you guys ought to graduate. Aside Covid-19 and the ASUU strike, the school has no reason to hold you down and frustrate your life plans. Not when you paid school fees and other fees which was a requirement by the school. It presupposes that you have satisfied your side of the contract and it is left for the school to fulfil theirs.

Join as many parties as possible and sue the HOD, DVC, VC and the school’s governing council for dereliction of duty.

You can also sue them in their personal capacity.

If they plead the public officer’s protection law as a defense, your lawyer should be able to tackle that.

But before then, write to the VC and copy other other parties including NUC which is the highest supervisory authority.

You might not win, but you will get your result.

Seriously some institutions need to be closed .That's why I love my school .Before you register for another semester ,you will definitely have all your results seen on the school website. NOT some useless schools like OOU where you will register for a course you have already failed his pre-requisite .

How in the world will a student be allowed to sit for MTH 102 when unknowingly he or she have failed 101 for example.

In OOU,you will later get to know that you have F in a course at 100 level when you are already in 400 level...

Which result were you mobilized with for youth service?or didn't you went for service?if you do maybe something went wrong and if you didn't went for service then maybe you have been spilled over or carried a course over...find out well before taking your alma Mata to court...
