OP, please provide the name of the school and the department. I'm suspecting there's something wrong with his admission.

The attitude of both academics and non-academics staff in Nigerian public tertiary institutions is quite distasteful. Most of these workers readily treat students as trash and I still don’t understand why. Currently trying to finish clearance so I can go to camp but it seems these people are hellbent on frustrating students no matter your status (except of course you’re ready to rub their palm or you have a valuable connection with them).

I laugh at those who readily support ASUU and NASI against the Nigerian government, if they know the kind of nonchalant attitude tertiary institutions staff display towards students ehn, they would even want to give award to FG for maltreating them too.

Tell the guy to keep on meeting those he thinks can help out. If he can get the VC or deputy VCs contact, he should go directly to them to explain his situation.

Who gave them the right to do this, FEDERAL GOVERNMENT...

So, you come online and confess on behalf of "your friend" to exam malpractice but you want to find results for same?

How??

Theempath:
Okay, I came accross a post on nairaland's frontpage about someone not having access to his results for two years...

I have a friend who was a roommate that year, we were roommates in 100level, baba was what you define as very intelligent, never missed a class, always went to night class and forfeited his sleep.

On the first semester of 100level,we wrote our exams, infact, he probably gave answers to half of his department in that exam Hall... Only for results to come out and all his results were missing. While the people he taught were jubilating at the A's and B's,. That was the first step to his depression.

Baba started running around like someone who had no life, trying to fix his situation, to no avail, another semester came, he was no where to be seen in class because he was always at the ICT centre or admin, trying to make complaints. Very soon, it started telling on him, you would know he he was going through alot merely looking at him. He went to ICT centre as early as 6am and came back as late as 8pm without being attended to.
Infact, he told me that, the only time he was being attended to, was when one of the people at the ICT saw how sickness don finish am, and how he just sat there, red eyed, waiting to no avail for his turn as usual.

My brothers and sisters, 200 level, his school profile was showing someone elses name, department and whatever. The only thing that didn't change was his reg number...

It's been 2years since we, his set graduated , and his still trying to fix his sh**, in a school and world where nobody probably gives a bleep about nothing.
His parents are confused, he doesn't want to tell them cause somehow, he feel he disappointed them.

If you have any advice, or something he should do to fix everything, kindly drop them here. We all go through alot of different things, but we bear them silently, while trying to fix it...
Love and light.

I'm a lecturer and I can authoritatively tell you that this is not possible, the only possible thing here is that the student may not own that admission, was probably given a fake admission.

All the students have 100 percent access to their HOD, no HOD, will seat and see this slide.

The registrar office is there for a reason, he can approach the registrar, the exam officer will be held by the balls.

Let me give you guys how exams are computed, let say you offer 9 courses, this is 9 different lecturers, each gives you mark of over 40 for CA, and give you mark over 60 for exams, this is computed and you re graded and each lecturer have a time limit to send it to the department exam officer.

The officer input this scores in excel and send to the HOD, departmental meeting WILL be held to discuss result, performance and correction, each student is been evaluated here and at the end, the result is sent to the college exam officer then to senate for approval before it is displayed for students, only few mistakes can take place and its mostly subject to correction.

You've made a wonderful submission here but however, it's sad that people overlooked your post and continue to comment based on emotions.

Reminds me of my final year second semester in Rivers State University, i checked my results
online and saw a dash (-) in one of the courses, I knew I couldn't fail so I immediately contacted the Exams and records officer who told me that I had an extra year, but I requested for the result sheet and upon checking it was revealed that I actually passed the course.

I went through a lot of stress trying to rectify the issue, but it was eventually rectified... Nigerian universities can only frustrate you when you don't know your rights as a bona fide student.

How can your friend allow a particular set of people to truncate his destiny like that, he needs the services of a lawyer now more than ever.

Pls let him also inform his parents as their influence may actually help him immensely.
Bro which department you finished from. I graduated from Rivers State University too
Re: Results Missing For Two Years, What To Do?? by Waywardson6: 11:21am On Oct 26, 2022
He needs to let his parents know immediately, because he can't carry this burden alone. It's not an ordinary thing that he's result is missing & he kept quiet about it to his parents all this while. Some parents may be intolerant, but at the end letting them know is better than dying alone. Because, they'll blame him for not speaking up on time. This type of problem was purposely done to frustrate him, he needs all the help he can get & on time, before he's youthful years are wasted on academic issues he didn't bargain for.

Missing results for two years might not be seen..I advise him to register those courses as carry over and move on..the ealier the better otherwise he will end up spilling due to them and still right them as carry over at the end of the day.

He should write to their university Registrar through his head of department copying the Vice - Chancellor, Dean of his faculty .

If you have a missing result as a student after sitting for an exam, and you signed the attendance on the exam day , don’t delay write a letter as stated above . A panel will be set up that missing result must surface .

Your 'friend' never tell you the truth about his situation
Re: Results Missing For Two Years, What To Do?? by ChiefDelegate: 2:59pm On Oct 26, 2022
Right from Genesis the whole approach towards to search for his results was wrong, the first thing to do is to authenticate his admission Letter through the H.O.D's master list. Again having 1- 4 maximum courses as omission of results is quite normal but a whole semester no single grade or score is not normal and it's very rear.
Hence after his first academic session, his admission and result status will be showing ;
1. probation or change programme
2.withdrawal

Please stop capping. Nigeria public education is a mess on many levels. What about a situation where they discover missing results at the point of final clearance? Happened for up to 3 years. General results will be released no issue, final results, some Core courses missing and no one was taking responsibility for it. I saw this happen, not a tale. This person was forced to give up cause nothing made sense anymore. Imagine you been told 100l courses are missing after you've concluded 400l exams? Come back, sit for em, then they discovered 1 or 2 courses in 200l are missing?
One of the things I learnt in school was that only a few teaching/non-teaching staff treat students like human.
If you like drop out, students still plenty for school. No sense of responsibility

He made mistake, issued are better addressed as soon as they occurred. This would have been better addressed immediately he noticed the first exam was not transmitted. And he would have opened up to his parents. Why did he wait till two years after school before bringing it out. To me something is wrong somewhere, why would he want to waste 4 good years of his life.

How will the black man make progress? The geniuses and the ones who'll discover and give solutions to the problem of the world are either being hunted by village people or being destroyed by less intelligent lecturers in their schools. I still wonder why government/schools don't hold themselves responsible for students missing scripts etc. All those nonsense can't happen in private universities. What are they doing in private universities that CAN'T BE DONE in public ones?

stop speaking like an illiterate.... You re offering nine courses, at the end of the semester, you saw 7 courses score on the board, you re to simply approach your HOD to call the exam officer to fix it immediately,

lol. do you know the meaning of missing results at the point of final clearance? you are simply ignorant of the reality of many students in public institutions in Nigeria. I am talking about a situation where a student saw he passed a course at 200l but was told one or 2 of his courses at 200l were missing, right when he was to get cleared and proceed to service. He could have cleared the courses when he was at 300l, but they had to wait till after final exams to tell him his results were missing and he must retake the courses. Do you know what it means to see your mates move ahead while you are left behind? Cause some people failed at their jobs? I have seen HODs and departmental officers work hard to make sure no student experience such, but I also know the number of diligent ones is few. But how will things get better when people like you continue to deny these realities? 'What I know nothing of?' I went through a public university. Know nothing of indeed.
