What I said is that presidential election is very expensive and the presidential candidate alone will not be able to shoulder all the expenses and that we will therefore be needing collaboration from all candidates of the party and all well-meaning Nigerians.

All parties need to raise funds for campaigns...both the broke and the not broke.

A campaign is a big undertaking with a lot of unexpected expenses. (eg..candidate decides to make an unscheduled trip, or you discover that you need to employ several more workers, or you wake up to a message from the printers that the cost of posters has gone up drastically).

So, funds need to be raised.

Obama famously raised one dollar per supporter to raise funds for his own campaign in 2007.
