All parties need to raise funds for campaigns...both the broke and the not broke.

A campaign is a big undertaking with a lot of unexpected expenses. (eg..candidate decides to make an unscheduled trip, or you discover that you need to employ several more workers, or you wake up to a message from the printers that the cost of posters has gone up drastically).

So, funds need to be raised.

Obama famously raised one dollar per supporter to raise funds for his own campaign in 2007.

I follow foreign politics. Parties abroad do the same thing.

Peter Obi knows he cannot win the elections. That's why he is not spending a kobo of his money but wants his supporters to contribute and spend theirs.
