* I went for an interview in a private university, the VC, registrar and body of interviewers comprising of the HOD, dean and staff of my supposed department all congratulated me. They ask that I bring my original MSc certificate, I got the certificate with the little money I had then, while on my way to submit the certificate, I nearly had a head-on collision with a fuel tanker/truck. On getting to the university, the registrar once more congratulated. Guess what? it has been 5yrs after, I've not heard from any of them. The funny thing is that the host community of the said university was attacked by herdsmen some years back.

** After my experience with the university, I swore not to apply for any university job again till after my PhD. So, after my PhD, I applied for a job in another university. Not long ago, I was invited for something entirely different. Funny enough, in terms of qualifications, publications, youthfulness and academic standing I know I am far better than their choice.

*** Before I left PhD, my supervisor told me that "PhD distinguishes and that those that work with God should put in extra effort". So, I started looking out for a postdoc abroad, God willing I am currently on one now and will possibly be leaving the country next year

My point: Nigeria is not built to favor the best. Being proud of your achievements is regarded as arrogance. So, do not be disturbed, mourn your lose and move on with your life. Most times delay isn't denial, you're being prepared for something better

My Advise: Start up your own business, grow it into whatsoever you want it to be and if you've an Android phone follow some government based loans and grants in your state/country. Don't spend all your life savings looking for a job. I believe you're still a youth and that's your greatest advantage

I had to change my location to lagos and stay with frnds till I secured my own accommodation.

depression is killing me, i tried alot of jobs but i could not secure any, now i even have phobia and i feel hopeless.

The only business i could have put in which is selling of petrol, kerosine and engine oil failed because its will cost atleast 20k to start.

That's why I always advice people to get every motivational gadget within their reach to motivate themselves. Get books , listen to messages so you can encourage yourself. Read more about successful people and see how their stories motivate you.

Lastly, pray to God and always maintain a positive mindset. Believe in yourself no matter what.

Pls, the motive behind this post is not to scare you but to help in finding a solution to this situation. Bro. note that some cases are spiritual. How can you explain the fact that the organisation was highly interested in you n suddenly they lose interest in you just like that? Pls. you need to sit n examine your life probably you will find out that something is wrong. In this end time, the only weapon to overcome evil n stagnation is to be close to God n be prayerful.

I understand how you feel. There was a time I came back from an interview and I wept bitterly because of the whole experience. In fact, I was willing to work for free to at least get the required experience back then but no one was willing to take a chance on me. I'm not where I want to be yet but I'm sure I'll get there by God's grace.
Just build your networks properly. Put yourself in the midst of experienced professionals in your field. Join professional associations. Let them add you to their groups. Follow profiles on LinkedIn etc.
It's not enough to be brilliant nowadays but do people out there know you're existing, not to even talk of whether you're brilliant or not. All will pan out well for you soon.

I will not dispute your fact brother but you'll agree with me that the system here in Nigeria is faulty and God is not the cause but we the citizens. It's very clear from her story that they already have a preferred candidate for that role. Leave my loving Jesus out of this. Nigerians can pray for hours but they'll still go back to their old ways. No one is willing to change.

From Rivers State I went to Kaduna for NAMA ATC interview, passed aptitude test and oral interview till today they didn't call. I went to Lagos thrice no success. I told myself I won't attend again. Anyone who would interview me away from Rivers State other than on phone should keep his job.
