People too like these Mussle abi spider. Don't really know what they see there. If it's not the 2012 and above model of Camry I'm not buying any other.

Anyway, Op I don't think you can get that year for 3m to 4m now. The last time I checked was on August the least we saw was 4.5M. Unless you want Nigeria used which is not advisable for a first time user

I have a Toyota Highlander which is an SUV and because of the poor state of Nigerian roads, I would advise prospective buyers to seriously consider getting a good SUV and the Highlander is the best on the market right now.

Hello all,

Thanks for clicking the link to this post.
I intend to buy my first car by January 2023. I am a big fan of Toyota and have an eye for the SE Trim, 2007-2011 camry.
I am budgeting between 3m-4m to get a clean tokunbo and would like to hear similar experiences from people who have been in this shoe before. I am married with just a kid. All ideas are welcome and again thanks for viewing this thread.

From my Experience: don’t go for v6 avoid them totally especially those with push start.

Check out for your catalyst. Just look under the car when your buying it…

Tell the mechanic to test drive the car also with you inside. For a while and then you test ride if you know how to drive. Listen for sounds

Just buy an 2010 or 2011 camry with i4 engine (2ar). Avoid the 4 plugs of 2007 to 2009

I'd have suggested a Mazda 3 2012 model but you need a specialist it's issue is mainly electrical

Instead of the Toyota Camry
Go for Honda Accord 2014.

The car is sleek
Attractive interior
More speed
& has beautiful design...

Discuss it with any of ur good staying in residence, he will be friend who has been using car, let him bring his mechanic along with you when you are going for the car.

Meanwhile, make sure you buy car that people are using around ur location cos of mechanic and rewirer, Incase of any electrical or mechanical faults

Thanks alot for your input. Just have a few concerns on the V6 you mentioned. Can you please let me know why because based on what I've read, v6 engines perform better and are smoother though may consume more fuel.
if you have money go for V6, but if you are an average Nigerian. Please v4 would work better for economical reasons

What are the issues with C300
Heard it is reliable as long as you do the usual maintenance and avoid pushing it too much

Re: Buying My First Car, Please Share Your Experience by megasoul: 2:02pm On Nov 15, 2022
I bought my Camry XLE V6 since July 2017 and I don't regret ever going for it. I've only changed plugs trice on the engine and one coil once. Apart from that, I've not touched the engine. I service (oil and filter change) every three months using mobile super 1000 oil. My suspensions are still the follow-come. I've changed AC compressor once to peuguet 607 compressor. They say it's the best and so far, I think they are right.
In summary, I think I got lucky with a good buy to some extent but I also think my mechanical engineering background too has helped me to give the car a very good maintenance history.
That car is a beast. She's 5yrs and 4mths, first body and still glitters.

Honest opinion, your budget wont get you a toks 2007 Camry, you have to up ur budget or get a 05/06 camry. Also get a i4 engine or a corolla. My only reason is the guel consumption. If and when Subsidy is removed, a liter will cost almost N500 that i4 engine or Corolla will be a lifesaver. when buying agree with the seller that you will bring someone to lose the car catalyst to confirm if it was removed and replaced with this fake China catalyst. 90% of car dealers in 9ja do this now. It will cost you over 200k to get an OEM catalyst from Ladipo mkt . Consult Gazzuzz for the car inspection ie catalyst check and etc.

I drive spider 2007 model v6 2gr. I can attest bro, it’s the best engine to drive. I don’t think I’ll ever drive v4. V6 is most reliable, easy cruising, good movement, and above all, more fuel efficient on highways.

If it's your first car the I suggest you Go for this
it's basically a corolla but looks more trendy. its also relatively cheaper to maintain than the Camry.

I bought my first car in 2010. I loved that car, an Honda civic. One thing to bear in mind is your first car is for learning even if you know how to drive before now, you will use your first car to learn how to manage cars, how to drive (if you don't already know), how to make many car mistakes. So it is always good to go for something strong and simple as your first car.
