That he is a security personnel doesn't mean he has zero knowledge of other matters.

Someone who understands the basics of economics and on his position on financial crime can easily analyze the situation on ground regarding naira to dollars exchange rate. You don't need to go to Harvard to understand it.

Exchange rate of countries currencies is not determined by redesign of their currency.It is a factor of production and exports against your imports.
If we knew that dollar/naira exchange rate would be favorable to Nigeria, we should have been doing it perhaps every TWO years.

Those hoarding the Naira have an option to change them to dollars (which would spike the demand and increase the rate) but what happens to the BDC guys who are also hoarding the dollars? They can't take all that stash to the bank cos of the CBN regulations on deposits ...so these two set of guys are now in a fix. The BDC guys or those with old dollars now want to flush them out but also weary of how to deposit the funds in the bank.

For the dollar to crash seriously against the naira, phase out the N1000, N500, and maybe N200.

Phasing them out will also reduce stealing by government officials, and kidnappings by herdsmen, bandits, and the like.

Actially it can. What the EFCC chairman failed to define is that the intrinsic value of the naira is now more cherished than its monetary value. Which is supposed to be one of the major functions of money. This has led to people hoarding Naira just for the fun of it.

It has to do with the US policy to check the stock pile of dollars in Africa. Especially Nigeria and South Africa

do you know that the cbn withdrew 1.8 billion dollars from the reserve? Do you also know that the official rate is not going down but up? The dollar crash is fake. This december alone we will exhaust the 1.8 billion the put in circulation and naira will be back to N900 by January
