The Moors that controled Spain came from modern day Algeria and Morocco. They were expanding the Arab and Islamic empire which was pretty vast at the time and spaned even bits of modern day India and China. The majority of them were not black. Most of the soldiers were Berber and the generals Arabs. The vast majority of Berbers have typical mediterranean looks. Like the Mid-easterners, Italians or Greeks. The only reason some people may think they were black is because a lot of people ( especially Americans) tend to think all of Africa is black but the vast majority of North Africa is white/olive (caucasian).
The term "Moors" refers primarily to the Muslim inhabitants of the Meghrab ( Berbers) but even the Spanish who had converted to Islam were referred to as Moors. In the end of the day it's important to remember that this all happened under the name of the Islamic empire.
