Bros, please go back your passport is ready, Alausa’s text message software hasn’t been functioning. You will not get any text message. I captured in August too and I got back my passport since October.
Thank you so much. Please do you know if they open on Saturday? I have actually been too busy to go there on weekdays.

That was what i was told. The last time I did my international passport, it came out in five days or so. I understand that since the issuance of new PP started, things have changed even with the introduction of the NIN. The North is still an exception for now.

If you captured at Abeokuta NIS on or before September 21 you should go and collect your passport now, pretty sure it's ready if there's no issue in the process that you see on the tracker. If it's showing passport in production since August or September, it's pretty much all printed now except for those with issues (NIN issues, etc.). The collection process is a shitshow as usual but you'll get it at the end of the day, though you might spend your whole day waiting there and leave around 7 pm if you refuse to bribe anyone.

P.S.: I collected mine today but it's still showing production in progress on the tracker.

Hello guys, I have decided to DIY after reading this thread.

The only issue I have here is my birth certificate is missing and my birth date is 1986.

Pls do I need to redo NPC birth certificate or do age declaration at the court? Birth certificate cannot be issued twice. Since you were born in 1986_ an affidavit of age declaration would suffice.

This is very unbecoming! August That's 3months+ o. we need to find a means to call out these people. I already knew there will be a challenge when I noticed they use red marker for DIY.

Age declaration at the court of law in Nigeria would do.

Help a brother, I live in Ifo LGA, so I'm so confused on which Passport office I should choose, either Sagamu or Abeokuta.

I'm asking because I want to Diy, and I don't want any big issue concerning this stuff

I feel like i should share my experience at the Ikoyi Passport office to help others

8th of November was my capturing date, but before then i had gone through this thread to get the necessary information required to have a seamless capturing as a DIY.

Back Story: I have never had the original of my NPC birth certificate. always used a photocopy when required. (infact, i didnt even know that what i do present as orginal was a photocopy until an organization i went for an interview recently mentioned it). I researched on how to get another NPC certificate but it was too late to start processing one so i got an age declaration instead and hoped that it works after asking few questions here.
I came into lagos, went home to pick my original NIN slip and could not find it also. I came to this thread to inquire on what to do and i got responses.

So i took other documents required, and headed straight to Ikoyi Passport Office on Tuesday 8th. I got there around 7:59, signed in and headed straight to servicom.
(Let me note that the only original documents i had with me was my letter from state of origin. grin)

Few minutes after sitting, an officer came to collect our Appointment slip. I asked him if he was going to return it cos i had just that one copy and he said yes. so he took for everyone waiting and went back inside.

The waiting began. I saw people entering the office inside and coming out. No activity was hapening outside. I went inside and asked someone why they were standing and what is happening inside, her response was not straightforward. i went back outside to sit down. i remembered that i was yet to get a photocopy of my letter from state of orgin, age declaration and another copy of my NIN slip. so i stepped outside to get it and that was when i realized that i left my age declaration at home cheesy (LOL). I quickly called and have them send it via dispatch to ikoyi passport office. After photocopying, I went back inside and asked the guy i was sitting close to if the officer who took our appointment slip or anyone has come out to address us and he said No.

I was beginning to contemplate how to get another appointment slip when another officer came out with slips and starting calling names for people to queue up. He called the first ten, they queued and he checked their docs, put them in a brown file and directed them to long room. while he called the first ten, people he did not call started queuing at the back of those he called with their appointment slip in hands. See me without another appointment slip nah, i was looking lost grin. i wanted to rush out and get another appoitment slip when another officer came out again with another set of slips and started calling, that was when i knew it was in batches. They were really fast as long as you had all the documents required. No questions asked. they check your docs and if its complete, they file in the brown file and give you to move on.

Now, at that stage, i was wondering why everyone was given a brown file and why they were not asking "who is doing for you"cos all the stories i read here, people have commented on how they use seperate files for DIY and express people.
Anyway it got to my turn, the dispatch rider was yet to get to passport office with my age declaration so i submitted the photocopy of my NPC. It was filed and i left with two other guys i initiated conversations with while waiting.

We got to long room and was directed straight into the office. An officer stood up, collected our files and asked us to go back out and have a seat. Not long after, he started calling names. After the first guy went in and came out, i asked him why he was called and he said the officer asked for his orginals, he gave it to him and came right out. At this point, i started fidgeting. it was past 10 and i called the diaspatch rider who told me he was close by. The officer came out, called my name and i went inside.

While inside, he asked me for my originals. i quietly brought out my photocopy of my NPC birth cert, photocopy of my NIN and letter from state of origin. He was like "is that all?, bring out the rest" and i asked which other one sir? that's all i have. He asked where the original of my birth cert is and i told him i misplaced it. Then he gave me back my file and asked me to go and get the original. I asked him from where? and he just said PLEASE BACK TO SERVICOM TO DROP YOUR FILE, THEN GO AND GET YOUR ORIGINAL FROM NPC. then i started telling him that i have Age declaration and he said it's NPC he wants. Then i told him that i saw age declaration as part of the documents pasted at servicom and pestered that i have age declaration. Then he asked how old i am. when i responded, he told me i am below the age and cannot accept it. he shushed me out of me office and told me to return my file back to servicom.

I walked back to servicom devastated and decided to just wait for the dispatch rider to come so i can get the age declaration and head home. while at servicom, i was wondering where and who i will give the file back to. The officers there were still attending to people and just did not have my time. so i sat and waited.

Soon, the dispatch rider came after past 11am. i rushed to make a photocopy of the age declaration and one mind told me to go back to long room to try my luck. i got there, stood at the door of the office and started beckoning on the officer to come take a look at my age declaration. This man came, look at it and told me he cannot accept it. Apparently, he started speaking in yoruba to his colleague that i ran outside to quickly do age declaration from those cyber cafe people and that infact, i cannot be trusted that all my documents are fake. I quickly picked it up and started saying that i did not do it at the cyber cafe and that i got it at the high court. i also started showing him the receipts and one other thing the court attached to the age declaration incase of verification. while i was trying to defend myself, tears were already filling my eyes grin and at that point, i was willing to negotiate and bring out money if he mentions it. When i was showing him the receipts and insisting i did it at court, i was close to his colleague he was speaking with. His colleague now asked me to truly say where i did the age declaration and i swore with my life and every being that i did it at court. he asked me to show him the documents. he flipped through and actually realized that i was saying the truth due to the receipts and the other papers attached to the age declaration. so he went to the officer, showed him and begged him to just do it for me before my tears explode.

He took it and gave it to the next officer to sign. I thought it was all over but this next officer started questioning my letter from state of origin. said it does not look like what others are bringing. asked me where i got it from, when i got it, i answered all the questions. after answering, uncle was still shaking head saying he cannot accept it. I asked him what the issue was and what exactly he was looking out for in the letter because it was that same type of letter my siblings used for theirs. Then the officer asked me where i worked and what i do and i told him that i am jobless but i bake cakes grin grin( this was a lie though but i figured he might use from my answer to want to extort and i have to be careful with my response). After few seconds, he just signed and gave it to the next and last woman.

Now this woman was the thorough and straight forward amongst them. She openly told me that the age declaration is not acceptable and asked why i don't have the NPC. I told her that i do, but others have refused to accept it saying it's not orginal. She asked me to give it to her which i did. After looking at it, she asked if i have another copy of it and i told her that it was already in my file. She opened the file to search for it, found it, signed and then directed me to the officer holding the stamp for her to stamp.

After all these, i headed straight to the capturing room. The officer i met at the door directed me to a room where others were waiting to be captured and said they will come out to get my file from me there. Went straight to the room and saw the multitude also waiting to be captured. I looked around and confirmed that i'm not the only one there waiting with my file, searched for a seat and then the real waiting began.

While i was waiting, some officers will come in and call their candidate they are helping. The officer in charge of collecting files and calling names came out twice to call names but did not collect files. finally around past 2pm, the officer came out to collect those still holding their files. When my files was collected, i was relieved cos what it meant was that no matter what, i must capture that day. Not long after, i saw the two guys i started the process with at servicom leaving. Apparently, they were done (also DIYs).

My name was not called until few minutes to 5. This was after several announcements that their network has been shitty and we even got apologies for the delay. I entered the office together with other people and we sat accordingly. Then we submitted out files to the officers. While one was inputting the details, the other was handling the biometics and photo. asides network that hindered the delay in there, it was a seamless process. I captured, collected my file and went back to submit at servicom around 5;53.

I only spent 150naira at passport office and that was for my photocopies.

Set aside the issues i faced which was brought upon by myself (not holding my original documents), i would say that my DIY process was smooth. Never was i asked "who is doing it for you" (cos i was expecting it based on the stories here), or asked to bring money for anything, or was asked to go back or whatever because no-one was doing it for me.
So as a DIY, i would advise you go really early, with your originals and complete documents. You might not be as lucky as i was with my tears and begging grin. Also have patience to wait, and sit for long because they will call those for express entry first or officers handling for people will be coming to call out their people which will make your wait time obviously longer. But be rest assured that you will capture that day.

If you do not have patience and you don't like stress, DIY is not for you at all.
Also some people are not even aware that this process can be done by themselves. While waiting, the lady beside me was shocked when i told her that i was doing this passport by myself.

I'm sorry for the long read..

Sir!!!
Is the letter from the state of origin compulsory??

And where would I get the letter; is it from the high court?

Help a novice
