The stacked notes won't be useful for vote buying on Election Day, because there are new notes in circulation & the old notes are no longer legal tender. This is only possible if CBN maintains the time limit set for the public to return all their old notes to the bank.
What is the evidence that the monies being hoarded are being hoarded by politicians?

Even if that is the case, so after depositing, they won't withdraw their money?

These new notes look more like the work of a bad printing machine. I'm more interested in the billions it cost tax payers to design such hideous notes
The printing is good example of when ones past is better than his present.

If not majorly politicians, who else? You?
You can see that about a week ago, EFCC went after these Bureau De Change guys to seize over 6 billion naira cash from them, some of the cash politicians can't take to the bank were taken to BDC guys to change to dollar notes, that was what sparked naira to fall heavily against dollar in the black market about 2 weeks ago.

Even if that is the case, so after depositing, they won't withdraw their money?
You can't expect a single individual to take like 10 billion or 30 billion naira cash to bank to deposit, that'll be against the current cashless policy of Nigeria, and it's punishable under the law, the more reason EFCC has some governors under their watch as we speak. Most of them have been cornered by CBN

sad Even though I'm a born again Christian, this policy is targeted at those Anambra criminals using drug money to finance labour party noise all over the country. Their labour is finally in vain. God bless the federal government and our Muslim brothers and sisters sad

You can as well check who those people could be.
We were all here when an individual moved 2 bullion vans loaded with money into his house few days before the last election.

This doesn't stop them from relooting...the problem is with the system not the people!!! Put a system in place for proper actions against looting n watch how economic policies will work.
The problem is the people, the people make the system.
The people are the system.

Your being born again doesn't mean your judgement is free from being clouded as you have just shown. This policy is basically to destabilize those who have been stockpiling naira notes for the purpose of funding election bribes and all other non electronic deals that occur without the use of banks. This includes majorly the politicians who have stashed away unimaginable amounts for all their dealings, also bandits who have also been collecting ransom as cash for years now, the drug barons you spoke off also arent left out. You making this about the drug barons is quite mayopic.

I think this man wants to deal with some politicians who have stockpiled the old naira notes for the purpose of election. Majority of the money in the system left the banks long time ago, being hoarded by some bastards for their selfish interest. This singular move by CBN has put them all into trouble, to return the huge cash in their custody to banks becomes a problem for them, as they are being watched by EFCC, banks and the general public.
Politicians don't save money in naira but dollars.

Nigerians won't move forward with this kind of mentality. It is more like a pleasure to us in negatively criticising the federal government for the sake of it.

Filter or no filter. The aim of redesigning is what should be more important to us. And i believe this new notes would achieve this aim only that average Nigerians ( in politics and in street) are busy planning on how to frustrate this new development.

If I remember correctly, there has been a jingle on NTA for the past 20years against spraying, mutilating and abuse of the Naira Notes. I think it comes with a fine.( I will have to check again or even a light jail term)

In Ghana, you go to jail if you mutilates the Cedi.

Carrying huge Cash has always been a crime. Money Laundering Acts stipulates the amount you can hold. There are Thresholds on Lodgement and withdrawal.

As an individual, you can't use more than #500K Cash to buy anything. The State will prosecute you! It is in the Acts!

Like I said, it is not the lack of Laws and guidelines but the Political Will to see it to the end
It's not yet a hopeless case ,I still believe thing will change

I share your optimism. I really do.

Change comes from within. Even God says He will only change a people when they are ready to change.

An Hausa man talking abt Anambara hoarding cash? Does that make sense? Are u listening to urself? The thing is that becos u people do not have sense u believe every other person does not.
