Hi mimilyrics, do these roles get sponsorship too?

Please guys

(1) what sort of invesment can someone with spare 500pounds per month do. That will not require much physical presense. I tried having a car and leasing for uber but the stress plenty.

I am looking at all these bonds, stocks and the rest.

(2) i have two friends in nigeria who really want to come to uk but dont have much money as such they cannot do the student route which i did.
How best can someone in nigeria get sponsorship even if it is to come and do care or factory work or any work at that.

Are there website i can check for this or who has idea to shed more light for me. I really want to help them

I'm interested in knowing too.
The thousands I'm saving for my mortgage is currently earning just 2% in savings account. I tried stocks ISA but I ran after some losses.

Thank you so much for this ....but on most online forms, its usually required you state your visa type and once you select tier 4, its the end of the process cheesy Omo I taya cheesy

Amarathripple0:

Cool, my go to response is "I have a residents permit that allows me to work". Because a Tier 4 BRP is actually a residents permit.

Interests on savings is growing daily in Nigeria now, you might look at Money Market Funds - the type that preserves your value oo cheesy, get some interest, build up capital and do real investments that would amount to something in the future and not one that boys would use set their own business on top your head. My thoughts though.

Hello,

Please, can I book Egyptair directly on their website? Do they accept naira cards for payment or have a Nigerian account for transfer?

Please guys, any thoughts on this? Thanks

I was just mooting the idea but I think one can subtly mention it (resident in the UK ....but not including the sharecode )in the objective section of CV or what you think?

I never knew people put info about visa in their CV, I would say don't do it..

Ok pls any input concerning my second question
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by bigtt76(f): 2:06pm On Nov 26, 2022
First step towards that is to prepare their CVs and apply online to jobs specifically with the intent to get sponsorship another option is to start training as care worker through online courses etc and thereafter apply to those jobs. If they Google search Care jobs in the UK, they will see many.

Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by lightnlife: 2:22pm On Nov 26, 2022
First, you can't work full time on a student visa even if the company wants to sponsor.

You'd have to switch to a PSW visa after your studies to work full time. It allows you to get a job - sponsored or not.

Once you have a job on the PSW visa, you can then discuss sponsorship with your employer who by then would recognise your value to their coy.

It has never occurred to me before, leave it out totally, and this is not because you are hiding anything, it just isn't part of what should be on a CV.
Just like putting age, address, nationality, marital status etc..these things can cause an un/intentional bias which can be negative or positive. (you can also play it to favour you like
putting your UK location)

This means that I have to find a company that'll possibly agree to 20 hrs /week

NHS agreed to it for a girl in my class (IT Audit) and that's the only case I've seen so far (for the sponsorship ones)

Ahahah, this is very relatable, I will ask myself shey na work we come do or chop and flex,Seriously they work smart and play hard, we have been watching all World Cup matches in the office , if you see our kitchen with food, fruits and edibles, I will just be thinking and crying silently of my working experience in Nigeria, Every Thursdays is Drink night at my office too, Fridays for bonding night, we chose an activity we do which can be indoor or outdoor, Last Friday was Axe Throwing which I never did in my life, we ended up in a club, I had to run home to meet my family, we spent not less than 800£, Sometimes I wonder they make profit with all of their expenses.
TouchOfSpice:
Yeah I think I can relate to some extent.

Jobs in the UK might make you feel like sey village people follow you come .

First 5 weeks in the UK was trying for me , despite the naija expectation I had that I will get a job immediately I arrive in the UK. Countless calls and interviews, even to some reaching final stage with their CTO na still silence later.

But when the time comes, I was opportuned by Gods grace to get an offer immediately after the last interview. Ever since na me dey ignore interview invite and postpone , surprisingly they will wait till any date you reschedule to. (This you can't try with my naija HR)

To cut the long story short, when the time comes , the same CV / your interview format you have been using will now start yielding offers like sey you do jazz.

As someone said above, never emphasize too much on visa sponsorship during the call /interview when you get the offer you can lay it on table and they will most likely oblige you. I did not asked for sponsorship during my interview.

In my present job the Head of HR is already asking me that am I willing to to be considered for sponsorship after my probation period. I am still sceptical simply because I know I am considering a position in Manchester metropolitan with 30% salary increase.

But it's sweet to work with the White o. They work smart but PLAY hard. Imagine having dinner/hangout event every 2 Thursdays of the month . There is even beer and drinks in the fridge to pop when you feel stressed. This I can never imagine in my naija.

Don't give up. Your hustle go click .

Cheers!!

“First is immigration. Let’s be honest with people. Our labour shortages are vast. First, we have lost hundreds of thousands of people to economic inactivity post Covid. And anyone who thinks they’ll all be back any day now – with the NHS under the pressure it is – is kidding themselves. Secondly, we don’t have enough Brits to go round for the vacancies that exist, and there’s a skills mismatch in any case. And third, believing automation can step in to do the job in most cases is unrealistic.

So, let’s be practical. Let’s have economic migration in areas where we aren’t going to get the people and skills at home anytime soon. In return, let’s make those visas fixed term. At the same time, let’s double down on incentives for technology and automation. And let’s agree a skills policy that works to fill these roles from the UK in the medium term. A shortage occupation list that not only goes to the Minister for Immigration. It also goes to the Secretary of State for Education. And a business sector who take on the mantel alongside them in our training budgets.

Overwise

It's possible. Someone just got a job on a student visa and the employer is willing to wait till the person's done with dissertation to start but COS will be processed before then.
Few months ago, someone else got one and started working while left with 3 months on a student visa but the company gave the COS before student visa expired and the person now works with them on a SWV.

Yes, they do but most Trusts only sponsor from band 5 and above. Some Trusts in inner London will sponsor from Band 4 but you'll need to make your case and show that they can't do without you but it's rare.

You can try, but companies won't most likely sponsor anyone on student visa.

The option would be to stop your studies and switch visa.

For your classmate that got sponsorship for 20hrs, did she change her visa type or she was still on Tier 4?

I believe one can't hold two visa types concurrently.

For Tier 4, it is what it is: 20 hours work allowance per week. Defile the rule at your own peril.

The system is structured to ensure that students having their finances covered for them to focus on their studies why allowing 20 hours per week to experience the labour market and make some money. I bet every student know this but try to wiggle it out.

In all, patience and diligence will always win.

You can get sponsorship as a student and change your visa type from tier 4 to tier 2 whilst studying. You do not have to be done with school to change your immigration status. Also there are a lot of serious jobs that can be done at 20hours a week and some companies advertise them. Filter the search on the job site to part time and you’ll find these roles.
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by lightnlife: 8:05pm On Nov 26, 2022
Getting a sponsorship job on a Tier 4 and transitioning to Tier 2 isn't exactly the discourse. The possibility is common knowledge.

Was asking hustla to confirm if his classmate's still maintained the Tier 4 or switched to Tier 2 upon the 20hrs job. It's a build up on previous conversation.

EDIT: I see you responded to my initial post which I modified just befor you responded. Guess I wasn't too clear in the initial post. Apparently, we're on the same page. wink
