But, Toyota of same year with Benz, Benz will be more expensive even the maintenance and second hand value will be lower. should it develope a fault, you spend more. Solid car no doubt, but expensive luxury.

Toyota is very expensive to Maintain ...

The gear of camry 2010 is over 500k and trust me it will pack up in 5yrs

I have driven a Benz for 10 yrs I haven't done anything in gear ...

The shocks of benz and Toyota are same prove but benz shocks will last 4yrs while Toyota is 1yr plus

Toyota maintainance eeeh...you get your mech your fruend....God help you if you drive a CVT gear one or hybrid ...I pity you

Bro I get your point. Camry itself is hyped. Sometimes I feel it's a scam, expecially with the high price of tokumbo Camry. But, have you asked yourself, how mush is the Benz Gear? Should it go bad, most Benz owners eventually dump it or sell off at ridiculous low price to anyone willing to pay. Ppl leverage on the demand for Camry. Ppl are willing to buy a Camry with dead Engine and gear without minding the milage.

Benz gear go bad...it is rare for benz gear to go bad ! any modern benz from 2000 is very rare

1.the gear is rugged
2. the gear has a protection mechanism called emergency code...this happens when the gear has low oil it will not go more Than gear one ...

I haven't seen any benz owner changing gear ...this last 8yrs. it is rare....they might cajnge engine but not gear

it is more expensive to maintain a 2010 camry than a 2010 of the E class benz

Trust me ...Toyota wahala too much from stabilizer linkage to shaft to tyrod to shocks to 21 pin Ani na 31 pin gear to blue smoke

Who’s trying to compare Toyota maintenance cost to Benz?

Are you alright?

A civil servant earning 100-150k per month can comfortably own a Toyota camry Spider and maintain it very well.

But with that income, you will struggle to maintain even a simple C class talk more E class or S class.

Abi you wan go into GLk, ML, GLE and so on?

A luxury car is a luxury car for a reason and a simple Camry is a simple Camry for a reason.

Stop deceiving ppl.

Do you know why Nigerians always go for Toyota Corollas and Camrys?

This is because, most of the small small components that can easily go bad can be replaced with cheap and china made components and these cheap components might go a long way to last you for a long time.

Or in some cases, if you don’t have the money to buy even the Chinese parts, that’s where you see your mechanic tying something with rope or filling it up with plastic he picked on the ground and the car will just run and work for you on management level pending when you have the money to replace buy parts.

But with benz, you can’t try this type of thing.

It’s true that parts take time to break down.

But when it does, you must buy and replace with the direct OEM part or it might not work. And these direct OEM parts are not cheap.

Please, stop deceiving ppl. It’s not good

A young man earning small income will see this comparison now and use his money to go and buy benz because em wan drive benz

and after some months he will discover he cannot even cope with the routine servicings and will end up parking the car somewhere in his compound.

that is a big lie...Toyota is trashy and not cheap to maintain in long run....you buy fake Cheap Toyota parts and you say you are maintaining it..that's why Toyota cars park up

original Toyota shocks is around 35k same with benz ...the only thing is that you can't get fake benz shocks but you can get Toyota fake shocks for 15k which you will change in the next few months is that one cheap

Toyota power steering pump is 35k same with benz so what's cheap about that

2010 Toyota camry or V6 2GR engine is 700k and not all mechanic will fix it well is that one cheap while 2010 benz engine isn't upto 500k

I don't want to talk about the gear of camry ...the gear is about 400k grade while 2010 benz C class gear no reach...it will not even pack up seff

Toyota is expensive to maintain just that cheap fake parts too much

I have driven benz for over 10 yrs and you service benz once in six months....the engine is rugged unlike Toyota that you service every 3 months

What year of Benz? Are you in Abuja? I would like to know more about this your claim. The last time I checked, a Nigerian used C300 08 is sold for 3.5-4m... This can get me a direct Tokumbo 08 Camry. I need to understand this your analysis. I currently use a 2.4 Camry, and I'm thinking of upgrading to an 011 Camry or 011 Accord. But, this your claim is confusing.

There's some sense in what you're saying. I noticed Toyota takes your money little by little, you keep changing parts that have a long repair bills over the years. But, it doesn't break down on the road, as long as you do your retuine maintainace and avoid terrible pot holes on the highway. But, I wouldn't agree that Benz is cheaper to maintain. Even google data disagrees. I have 4 frnds that bought Benz as first car. They have sold it and since then not able to buy entering along along... Simply because, they couldn't afford to spend about 500k on it at once not minding other Damages. While I bought Camry 2.4 and it's still taking me from point A to B for almost 4 years. Changed engine when I bought it though. But, it's serving. As young man My income can confidently take care of 08 Camry, the engine and gear is not upto 400k. But, I doubt for an 011 with the analysis you just gave.

The only thing that is expensive to change in ML is steering rack which is a 100k go and price highlander almost same price

but trust me Toyota will chop your money small small....before you know it you don go far ...who says Toyota no dey leave die raid...

That second hand value of a thing is what made Toyota products expensive to their so called lovers.

Imagine tokunbo Corolla being as expensive as tokunbo Accord. No be juju be that?

Hey guys, thanks for all your comments. To close out on this thread, I got a Toyota Corolla 2010 LE. It was 9ja used though but was well maintained by the previous owner who was relocating. Paid for it in December last year and car has driven almost 2000 miles without any issues since then. All the best of luck for future first timers.

Whether tokunbo or 9ja used, make sure to have a trusted mechanic inspect it for you. PEACE

Avoid V6. Avoid Diesel cars, go for cars you can easily get spare parts. Because a car is cheap does not make it a good car for you. Lastly, go with a trusted mechanic or you will cry blood
very ignorant post. I bet you have never owned 07 to 09 Camry either the V6 or I4. For the 07 to 09 Camry, better go with V6 for peace of mind.

I bought my Camry XLE V6 since July 2017 and I don't regret ever going for it. I've only changed plugs trice on the engine and one coil once. Apart from that, I've not touched the engine. I service (oil and filter change) every three months using mobile super 1000 oil. My suspensions are still the follow-come. I've changed AC compressor once to peuguet 607 compressor. They say it's the best and so far, I think they are right.
In summary, I think I got lucky with a good buy to some extent but I also think my mechanical engineering background too has helped me to give the car a very good maintenance history.
That car is a beast. She's 5yrs and 4mths, first body and still glitters.
there is a very big problem if you have changed plugs thrice. You are using wrong oil. In fact, you don't deserve to own the car. You have abused it with Peugeot compressor and I'm sure it vibrates. I have used my 06 Avalon with same engine as urs for 10yrs. I have neither changed a plug nor coil. I have not even topped a.c. gas. I use 5w30 synthetic oil and change twice in a year. I have only changed ball joints, linkages and tierods. You shouldn't be advising people on cars.
