Hi,

Thanks for your kind words. I didn't want to get anyone offended hence I had to delete the post... Thanks too for all you do on this platform. I take note of intelligent and helpful comments

Why would anyone be offended because you shared a story about your husband getting a job after 4months of searching?

Have we not read many such posts here and nobody got offended?

If I receive money from a US company into my Revolut USD account will it be taxed by HMRC, as per it's linked to my NI?

Just finding ways to avoid the money being paid into my Nigerian USD account due to all the USD transfer and withdrawal wahala. Also trying to avoid the funds being taxed or poor exchange rate over the ATM.

Your insights will be appreciated.

Good everyone,

pls do you encounter any challenge when you want to withdraw from your Nigeria USD card here? what are issues faced, how can one go about resolving the issue. pls your response will be greatly appreciated.

It's been a while we had a banter....

Let's have it, this should be exciting!

But as always, don't settle for less. You can start small but please know that you qualify for those big spots. You do and I say this with all sincerity of heart and love for your success.

Enjoy your day.

No HMRC won't tax your USD receipts automatically, but you do have a responsibility to declare it and pay applicable tax on it if it is classed as an income via self assessment. You only get taxed automatically on income you receive as as an employee via the PAYE system. Other incomes you'll have to declare and pay appropriate tax on them through self assessment.

You need to ask yourself/answer this question.

Also nothing wrong with apologising if you find you are in the wrong like you are right now smiley

Sure you could have said that without telling her she is making "false allegations". But no wahala, I have been in the UK for over 10 years and I am learning from Amarathripple0's comments here. That thing she said about not settling for less is very valid. Grab what you have but keep growing.

Make una no vex o

Abeg how dem dey bill water usage in this UK. I moved into a property in September 1st. I got a letter from United Utilises with a bill of 384 for August 31st, 22 to March 31st, 2023. This doesn't make sense. I have been trying to reach them to explain what's happening but not been able to speak with them. Maybe cos its weekend.

Someone pls enlighten me on how this works.

It means the property may not metered and the bill is based on an estimated usage of size of property and the number of people living there. You need to contact them to either ask for them use metered billing, in this case you'll still pay an estimated amount per month but when your readings are taken, it'll be adjusted if needed, or if there really is no meter at all, clarify the number of people they have used for your property as it my be different to previous occupants.

Thank you Ticha, really appreciate!

Ticha:

Avoid interest only mortgages unless you're earning money from that house. That is the only time there is a pro for interest only because the repayments are lower and therefore makes your cash flow better. Actually, another pro will be if you already have the money and want to invest it, of course if you lose that money then you'll lose your home come crunch time.

For a property you live in, capital repayments all the way. It pays down the over all loan over the duration of the mortgage and the house belongs to you wholly when paid off. Of course, over the lifetime of the mortgage you can also borrow some of that capital back for other purposes which you often can't do with an interest only mortgage because the equity doesn't stack up as much.

If you take a loan of 75k and pay interest on it for 5,10, 15 years. At the end of that time, you still owe 75k which must be paid or you lose your home.

I wish you would still post your story. If there are no direct insults to anyone, I don't know why they would take offence, this is an anonymous forum. If they do, it doesnt matter either if other ppl can learn something positive.
If everyone starts holding back, it will defeat the purpose of this forum.
