Good morning everyone, please I want to know if it's possible to switch to medicine in unical I'm currently in 100 level med lab.
Do you have anyone to help you out?

U don't need to study medicine If u're already in a medical course. This MBBS obsession is getting out of hand.

And it's very difficult to cross to MBBS from other depts, regardless of your CGPA.

Please do not try to derail someone from his dream.
Most persons have done a degree in one of the medical fields, even Masters and Ph.D and still come back for medicine, why? Because it is the only thing that can give them fulfillment and satisfaction.
So, I am of the opinion that a man should chase his dreams by any means(legal) possible.

Good morning

Well, the chances are quite slim without connection. Like you said, you want to rewrite jamb, that's a better alternative if you really want medicine cos transfer is almost impossible.

Good morning sir, please what course do you advice someone who wants to cross-over to medicine to opt for,I'm asking for a friend who scored 234 in jamb and chose unizik.
Well, ceteris paribus; everything depends on his/her mindset and mentality. In UNIZIK to say, medicine is a course on its own, same also is applicable to pharmacy. We have health sciences(Radiography, medical laboratory, medical rehabilitation, nursing scienc, environmental health science et al) and basic medical sciences(Anatomy, physiology and biochemistry)
With respect to his/her jamb score 234 to be precise, i will counsel the individual to choose between environmental health science, radiography, medical rehabilitation, biochemistry, physiology or anatomy to enable him to obtain an admission slot on merit and to build a high CGPA as well.

which med sch has unbundled pathology into their respective departments
By "unbundled pathology into their respective departments", do you mean the scenario where you have to get a minimum of 50 in each of the 4 sister departments before you can proceed to the O and G/Paeds class?

not just getting 50, I mean each department is now an independent department and carryout their function separately and results comes out separately

I am a good example of using your areas of strength to make up for your weak points.

I was studying mechatronics engineering when I took JAMB form. I used to be a math and physics student mostly and anything bio wasn't really my thing. But since I wanted MBBS, I had to improve in my bio.

But what I also did was to hold my physics strong. Despite the fact that I was already good, I knew I wasn't good enough. I carried topics that I knew but didn't know well like Electromagnetism and others, studied them like mad. Bought Myschool App for prep

I read other courses well too, don't misunderstand me, but I held my physics tight. Very tight.

My score went like this

Eng 69

Bio 61

Chem 76

Phy 99

Total 305.

Hold your strong subjects well pls and improve on weak areas. Myschool App is also good for preparation. Get past questions arranged per topics (not ones arranged by year of exam), this type helps A LOT
Myschool App is very very good...

Good Morning All.

What would be your advice for someone who had 326 in Jamb and wasn't given mbbs but Anatomy.

The person later accepted Anatomy and had 4.90 CPGA and is not sure of crossing to mbbs via top 10 channel.

Should the person take utme again in 200 lvl or should the person finish Anatomy since it's 4 years, then reapply for Utme or better, Direct Entry?

N.B: the person has tried 3 previous times before to get mbbs.

The person will be 22 years in 200 level.

I just gained admission to study medicine, you can imagine the numbers of times I have tried.
Hmmm, true but why does it have to always be like that.
It can be really painful o especially when you have more than the score required.

If someone already has a degree and is coming back for mbbs at age 27+ is still better now?

Yes, it can be painful but, feeling unfulfilled is a pain you will have to bear the rest of your life if you don't do what you really have passion for, it is even more painful when you've tried and you missed it by a very narrow margin and just give up.
You can have a degree and come back for mbbs at 25+ it is still a win win.

Please edit my age out of the quote.

As a graduate of Anatomy(2014/2015 grad set) who is currently a 4th year MBBS student(2024/2025 grad set), I feel qualified to answer this question.

Please do not abandon your Anatomy. Continue with it.(as far as school fees isn't an issue)

But at same time, keep on writing JAMB with all of your heart. (Change institution to a school with lesser Competition)

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Life isn't predictable. Try jamb, try crossing over, try direct entry as well. It may tarry, but one will certainly click.

Lastly, please do not give up. It may be disappointing and tough now. But if MBBS is what you really want, you will get it. Be strategic with your choices.

In these videos, I talked about my JAMB struggle and how I was able to finally get MBBS Admission after writing JAMB 6 times. (In case you've not seen it and you'll want to see it)

It's very painful honestly. The age will hit you some times when you sit to reflect on where you're supposed to be at that age, especially if you compare yourself to your agemates who got MBBS admission right out of secondary school.(Its a profession that acknowledges hierarchy. Even if you are one million years older than your consultant or reg, that person is your chief and must be respected by you). I will still advice you to go for it despite your age. If not you may never feel fulfilled. (If that's what you really want)

I watched more than thrice and I can say Flesh and blood did not reveal all these things to you especially that part of relating with younger teenage students and staying as far away as possible from them and limit interaction and offer help only when u are needed to, to avoid "see finish" and disrespect. I have seen many matured students make mistakes you pointed out In the video and end result wasn't so palatable. Keep up the good work Jemi
