A lot of you people are commenting based on sentiments. The Hijab is just a head cover for only Muslim females.
Ask yourselves do Muslim male wear hijabs? No.
Do the Hijab cover the school uniforms? No.
Does it affect the students mode of dressing? No.
So we should learn to be open minded when passing judgement. Besides, Muslim females wear hijabs to all occasions and events except when they want to bath but do other religions wear their religious regalia to other occasions except on Sundays?

Once again, let's be open minded people.

Hijab doesn't cover face.
Even if it does, how does that concern you?

Why do you want to be looking their faces?
mycar:
how can students come to school with their faces covered, what's the essence of school uniform then?

The keyword here is “…..if desired”

Because some people will not read before they start commenting.

I like it when the rules of the courts are enforced, even though the judgement was given in July 2022, still not bad.

The freedom of religion as enshrined and guaranteed by our constitution cannot be compromised.

So far there is not compulsory in it….ALL GOOD

May God bless Lagos State

Will christainity also be enshrined and guaranteed in core northern states?

stop twisting the interpretation. if desired refers to if the students wishes to use so.

According to the Supreme Court, the ban violated the rights of the Muslim students to freedom of thought, conscience, religion, the dignity of human persons and freedom from discrimination guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution.

I remember a lawyer started wearing traditional attires to courts in the SE after judgement. That judgement can be applied in any setting. Constitution recognizes religious beliefs and conscience. Fundamental human rights are delicate issues.
Where your right ends is where another person's begins. Yours is not absolute likewise mine, there must be a common ground reason for compromises. Where such can't be achieved, we isolate and stick to our principles as long as it doesn't affect others.

If you wear hijab or tie/suit in sunny days as Africans living in Africa you are slaves. Hijab is Middle east/ Arabic culture nothing islamic about it. Arabs have been selling their culture in the name of religion.

You dey mind these mumu Africans?
If hijab was a part of African culture, they would have pointed out all the negative impacts it has, but once it’s a foreign agenda, our people embrace it without thinking.

Same thing goes for suit and tie, the white wear it because of their weather, but silly Africans wear it in the scorching sun here, inside danfo.

The person wey curse Africans really wicked.
Shior!

Only in public schools will this happen. You cant force private schools to do it even if it were founded by a Muslim.

since it is bidding on all schools in Lagos(both public and privates), it means private schools can expel such student who don't go with their code of dressing or deny them admission, if it is missionary schools.
it is a simple thing.

Like my other friend said, if religion doesn't destroy Nigeria, that means God is very merciful on us. If I am
in government today, religion will be kept very farrrrrrrrrrrrrrr from my government. Religion and tribalism are the two things that will destroy Nigeria very soon if care is not taken. We religious and tribalistic people that are full of hate for ourselves. Love is not in our heart even as we claim to be religious people.

has anyone stopped Muslim from taking their own rosary? Hijab is a distortion of school uniform. It's like saying Cele can now start wearing white bonnets to school. Or Catholics can wear nun hijab. Then assembly ground will look scattered which is the whole point of a uniform
Don't be an hypocrite. Muslim don't use rosery.
We Lagos indigene that are non-muslim are satisfied with the state judgement.

Don't bring practice that is not common to us here.

Uniforms should be worn as a form of discipline

Even with uniforms, you see these girls wearing tight fitting skirts to make their butts more pronounced

I wonder what will happen if they are given the freedom to wear what they want?
They don't deserve the Freedom to wear what they want even after Supreme Court just gave Muslims the Same Freedom to wear what they want?
.

The Problem I have with you guys is - you believe it is ok to suppress others with your moral compass but will only remember Human rights when your own rights are challenged!
Shebi gender impostors, carrying expo or hiding tattoos under hijab also depict a worldful of discipline?
...Hypocrites don't have standard!

There is no sense in what you are saying! Hijabs should be worn in Islamic school and it’s associated form. Not for government, privately owned schools.

What happens to other religious believers? Offcourse, they should put on their own uniforms as well? This is totally a joke of the highest sorts.

You're quoting off point. My response to him was based on them banning uniforms in general and students wearing mufti to school like they do in America.

I see nothing wrong in wearing hijab in schools. It's infuriating when a mountain is made out of a no -issue. Female lawyers are not even allowed to wear them in court-or has it been lifted?

Next time, don't be too quick to jump to conclusion.

I am the same guy you quote in both posts.
...
Why did you readily oppose mufti when it will grant you the freedom to even wear niqqab unopposed?
... because your hidden agenda to suppress others would have been defeated!
.
See you talking about discipline yet see nothing wrong with male students posing as female in hijab; nothing wrong with hiding tattoos or expo under same hijab but were quick to condemn students who adjust their uniforms to make their butt more pronounced?
What did I say again about hypocrites..?

Good development. Even in USA, no student is prevented from wearing hijab. Why Nigeria where Muslims are majority? Then, I realise it is only southern part of Nigeria that Muslims are persecuted

You're telling yourself a lie. Hijab is like scarf or head tie.
Let's christian put on scarf and hat no one says it's not allowed.

We're not talking about garment or robe, so stop comparing unrelated things.
