This your submission is quite funny...All the sports you mentioned don't get enough attention or funding like football in this country.. In fact, a large part of the success recorded in them are more from individual effort than collective administration effort... Most of them are individual sports anyway...
In basketball, our national team is filled 90% with foreign born players..In case you don't know, our local basketball league has been in comatose for 4 years now because of internal fighting within the federation.. that's why we haven't qualified for any age grade tournament in a while.

Naija lads in Europe: Last 2-3 days.

Across different club friendlies ahead of the return of the second half of the season across the Major Euro Leagues, some Naija lads have been among the goals as they get set to resume club football action Post-WC.

Also, some Naija lads across other Euro leagues also got in on the action.

Samuel Chukwueze scored as Villarreal defeated Galatasaray 4-3 in Turkey.

On Wednesday

Calvin Bassey featured from the start as Ajax managed a 5-4 win over FC Volendam.

Bright Edomwonyi scored as his side FC Koper beat NK Tabor 5-1 in Matchday 19 of the Slovenian Prva Liga.

We are going to pay dearly for making bad decisions. The problem is we will keep making the same mistakes then hope and pray. That’s not the way to pursue excellence.

AndSunGorilla:
For the SE, short term fix is getting coaching right. Now it's too early to fire JP, but am yet to be convinced he's the man. If you look at our current U17 and U21, those boys are good, hope they make it to the WC. I don't believe ALL of them and countless others in the a academies would all get into good clubs in Europe no matter how good they are. So my strong belief is that we need huge investments in the local league. Such that it would be unattractive for any Nigerian player to head to Belarus, Azerbaijan, Turkish division 2 etc. Looks like a pipe dream but nothing is impossible.

Ndidi is still rated by me.

Only that we have to understand he offers us more on the defensive side only. To mask his limitations in the middle when we try to progress play or ball-play, we have to feature genuine ball-playing midfield thinkers alongside Ndidi.

It is that simple for a start.

Idennaa was right on Ndidi's limitations all along but Ndidi remains our highest rated and most valuable midfielder in Europe. His time is not up yet. He is still needed big time. No better Ball Winning DM on the continent to be Frank. Emphasis on "Ball Winning".

ChrisKels:
So no one rates Ndidi anymore? So Idenna aka Omanbala1 wasn't wrong after all?

it happens everywhere, players slip through the fingers of selectors, arsenal let Harry Kane go because they thought he wasn’t good enough, even Tottenham didn’t really rate him till he grabbed his chances
It's not unique to Nigeria.

Mbappe went on trial at Chelsea as 12 year old but was rejected it's not news.

Manchester United let Pogba go for nothing barely three years later they bought him for €100 million.

Wolfsburg let Osimhen go and he went on trials with Brugge and Zulte but was rejected.

Eberechi was released by Millwall not good enough within 6 month's of that rejection he was playing in first team for QPR.

Tottenham almost left Harry Kane go he was not rated most of his loan spells were anonymous.

There are also players signed for big money who flopped big time Sanchez comes to mind leaves Arsenal to Manchester United and flops big time.

Chris. At the Naijafootballers TV studio on my last visit there, I had a near heated argument about Bellingham's quality in comparison to his peers like Pedri, Gavi and even Jamal Musiala. I even had to remind them of Florian Wirtz.

My mistake was having that discussion/argument in the first place. You know why? The person I was engaging was a Chelsea fan. A die hard Chelsea fan. Many of them don't like anything Barca. grin The bad blood is real.

I said, Bellingham is a very exciting young midfield talent but Pedri edges him SO MUCH in Game intelligence and Incredible technical ability.

Bellingham is more like an Engine in the middle. He will make those bursting runs forward from the middle and throw himself into duels and tackles and pop up with the occasional goals from deep thanks to his box to box qualities but Pedri is an absolute Maestro in the middle. His Vision is on another level to Bellingham. His game reading ability is classes above Bellingham's.

Pedri can conduct a game on his own. Bellingham cannot. That's the difference but this Chelsea guy no gree and ofcos I expect Liverpool fans to join in soon when Bellingham signs for them perhaps. Lol

To be honest, the English hypes is much and some of the very staunch EPL fanboys who hold interest in Bellingham will keep fueling it.

ChrisKels:
Jude Bellingham is good but so was Dele Alli. Believe the talent and the hypes on English players at your own peril.

This talk is flawed. The footballing nations in the world, or let me even use Africa, all excel highly in olympics and commonwealth, AAG tournaments, T&F. Does that mean they are not?

Egypt
Nigeria
South Africa

Nigeria is a footballing nation

Mujtahida:
Two factors will combine to make a nation a footballing nation:
1. Strong local league with attendant sporting facilities and the presence of large fan base supporting local teams
2. Good international record and history.

On both scores, we fall below the bar. Our international football record (apart from age grade competitions) is average. I need not talk about our local league.

On the other hand countries like Brazil, Italy, France, Spain, England (at least they have one WC) Germany, Argentina are footballing nations.
If this is the yardstick, hope you know many European teams will be declassified?

FIFA can't mention football nations in Africa without Nigeria in top 2 position. We all know this is a irrefutable fact(all rounda, male and female). This aspect should bever be up for discussion.

The issue is the rot in the system of sports. It needs an overhaul.

Sometimes is to just read some comments and pass.
Inspite of corruption and eneptitude of our leaders,
We have nothing to prove to any one that we are a big footballing nation.
bad leadership and bad economy r d major problem we have been facing for long, affecting our development, progress and success as footballing nation.
That's not an accolade or commendation but an indictment.

Look at the 2009 World cup in Nigeria , Brazil was knocked out quite early. In the Brazil team was Neymar and Coutinho, to name a few.

How far did our players with their manufactured ages get to ❓ Omeruo and co.

In fact for all our domination at youth level how far did those players the vast majority are nowhere to be seen.

So because we missed this World Cup and aren't part of the magic and drama we all are witnessing in Qatar and also punctured by the friendly loss to Portugal, some want to push the ridiculous take that Nigeria is actually not a footballing nation?

Mehn, there are some discussions in here that I am right to avoid.

At least Bellingham go distract all of us from the following

Greenwood
WestLife no 10
Mason Carpenter Mount

We no hear word from these 3 that year. Chai.

I love his style though. He still needs sharpening. If Kane doesn't drop deep in that English team, those midfielders are as good as average. Kane makes sacrifices too much for the 3 Lions. Remove him and watch kasala.
