I jokingly told him "Guy, I no say na money dey worry you, no worry E go come before this year end" he just said "baba, no be money oo" I asked him what's up, he just kept sighing and stuffs like that.

Me and my guys left after he was done filling my gas cylinder. So, after some days, I went back alone since I'm more closer to him than the other guys, this time around his eyes was red and he was still sobing.

In his words he said "Argh! I won die bro, I won die!" I asked him what was the problem, I still thought maybe he was afraid he might have contracted the disease or something, To cut the long story short, he had gone for the test and it turned out he was positive, he said he went to 2 different hospitals.


I feel guilty for him somehow because he wasn't even aware he had HIV and I did it to help him abstain from sex and hookers not knowing he got hit by the disease already. He opened up to me like everything how he regrets his life and if he had known, he wouldn't have been such a d!ck.

I bet you, till today, he hasn't gotten over it, even though I see him laugh and gist when we sit out in the evening, he tells me he goes to bed with regret and cries his eyes out, that he only tried to forget it with laughter and highness but he still comes back to reality mostly when he's alone.

He told me if there's a permanent cure for it, that even if it will be the reason he does blood money so he can afford the fee, he'll do it.

He would have continued in his womanizing ways not knowing he was positive until the HIV had become full blown AIDS and nothing could have saved him then. And when someone is positive and continues having illicit unprotected sex and coming in contact with different strains of the virus, they could end up getting the AIDS faster than they would have if they were not promiscuous.

HIV is manageable and with medication still do have a normal life expectancy. Where the problem begins is when the person's CD4+ count gets so low that they start having opportunistic infections before discovering they have the virus

What are the statistics of HIV infection routes?

Yes. There is vertical transmission from mother to child either during vaginal delivery or through breastfeeding but in recent years that value has significantly reduced due to proper antenatal care.

Then there is blood transfusion, drug abuse and needle sharing including tattoo needles. But none of these routes are as significant as sexual transmission.

When you know the statistics, you might realize that sex (anal sex > vaginal sex > MouthAction) is the singly most important route of infection.

2016 I was in VFS Lagos to submit my visa application when I was asked to go get an HIV test result. I went to one hospital there in Lekki and I was charged 15k or so for the test. The guy who was attending to me drew so much blood out of me and it was my first time so I just allowed him do his thing. About 1hr 30mins later, he came back and told me the doctor would like to see me so I went to the doctor and the next thing she started preaching how HIV is not the end of the world and I should not jump into a moving train that I’m HIV positive. I swear to God I just tore the result in her face and went straight to Ibadan to do another test in 3 different hospitals and they all came out negative. So I will advise this person to go run other test before he jumps into conclusion.
