You don't actually have the idea of how much major surgery cost in Nigeria
emorse:

It is definitely not that expensive. A major brain surgery costs about a million naira in a government hospital. About 3million naira in a good private hospital.

Orthopaedic surgery costs an average of 500k.

Don't mind them.
To study medicine seff is very costly talk more of the surgeries involved.

Coupled with 5- 6 years residency in general surgery, another 3 years for your subspecialty.
Studying medicine is not easy

I'm sorry to have commented on this page.

So sorry.

I lied.

Surgeries are done for N36k.

You win.

Have a great day, Boss.

He's not disputing the fact that there are surgeries that can gulp 2m and above, but all the money won't go to the surgeon.

Lol stop saying what you don't know. Firstly, whatever income from the procedure will be distributed across your team. Even the anaesthesia doctor will have an equal cut.. . Also, what kind of complicated surgery of 2m do you want to be doing 5 times weekly with private practice? You can't earn that much in a government hospital and apart from the big name private hospitals, the remaining privates na mainly appendix removal and illegal abortion of like 30-50k dem dey do lol.

An average salary for doctors in government hospitals is between 120 and 200k. Senior regs in FMCs and teaching hospitals is between 220 and 270k. Consultants is 400k upwards ( although there are young consultants but most times you for don old before you reach that stage) Doctors don't earn much in nigeria . Many of them are struggling with their toyota big daddy and honda baby boy dem dey use do yanga up and down. Con dey toast and sweet mouth small small girls for streets with "I'm a medical doctor " talks. and Gone are the days where every child's dream is to be a doctor and lawyer. Both professions don too cast moat especially that law.. Those one na charge and bail and property agents full streets.

...closely followed by Bankers and Engineers! In summary, all the so called professional popular jobs wey we dey here those days don cast finish...Na some kind coded jobs and handiworks dey pay heavily these days

Be good at your craft and earn 2m per surgical procedure. And you can have 5 in a week.
Doctors make a kill for a living.
Lol, this is a joke right? Which surgical procedure do doctors earn 2m for? Except its a kidney transplant, and you can't do 5 a week.
If you're talking about how much private hospitals charge for advanced surgical procedures, then yes. But they'll pay nurse or doctor anaesthetics, buy new surgical tools, anaesthesia can be very expensive, post surgical care, blood, drugs.

This is a very good question.
Well ,it depends on the skills you have as a doctor, with clinical, surgical and ultrasound skills, salary is between 300k-400k which still depends on years of experience. As most private hospital needs experienced personel in their facility which also saves them from paying another doctor when one doctor can actually perform the duties of 3 doctors at the same time.

Do you know how many years & how
much money you spend take to become surgeon❓

First you do 7 years in university
to become ordinary medical doctor,
as in MBBS.

Then you do another 5 to 10 years
to become a consultant in your chosen
area of specialization, that is, surgeon,
gyaenacologist, paediatrics, psychiatrist,
orthopaedics, ENT etc.

Then you have to establish yourself or
work with government that aren't even
interested in paying you regularly and
a WAEC holding,local government councillor
may earn more than you.☹️☹️☹️☹️

Most federal universities even "sell'
admission into their medical schools for
over 1million Naira.

In short, to become doctor no easy.

Whatever they earn, they should know that their education is heavily subsidized by govt. and therefore be considerate when pricing their services.

Hmm. The 3 consultants I met recently, I cost 50k each with further consultations costing 20k(each) . None lasted more than 5min and more files were brought in of people on appointments. 250k may be money they easily make daily.
Other people that cannot afford it, have to arrive early hours in the morning to queue, spend the whole day waiting to see this same people in the general hospital. But within the same general hospital is a privately owned one. First class service, humane staff, acess to all the specialist at snap of finger etc. Ac, lift, electric stretcher ambulance, good food, helicopter landing pad. 500 to 800k lodging deposit.
But guess who owns the place?

No doctor earns 10m per week as he's trying to claim. Except those into medical business with very large hospitals and does on special boards.

what about Doctors in NGOS?
Re: How Much Do Doctors Earn In Nigeria? by kencrosss(m): 9:45am On Dec 14, 2022
It depend on where the medical doctor works
In Govt institutions let say general hospital a resident doctor earns 200 to 250k monthly the good thing is you have other bonuses with your hustle one can make double the salary based on referral to other private hospitals

I have been privileged to see the pay slip of medical doctors in the Govt parastatal like the Nigerian immigration service a fresh recruit who is a medical doctor begins from level 12 earns 300k to 350k as salary this is after the necessary deductions those in high ranks earn up to 500 to 650k monthly

In a private firm a medical doctor could earn may be for 2 hospitals 150k per hospitals on a part time basis this would require the doctor almost working average 15 to 20 hours per day to earn up to 350k monthly

However know that there are other opportunities aside salaries doctors can use in making money. Some drugs alone some consultatations alone can get even a junior doctor up to 500k without practicing as a regular doctor

If you are some one that loves security of finances you may consider
