That decade was the start of the turning point of CBMs. We had Iron Man and The Dark Knight(1st comic book billion $ grosser) the previous year. Also forgot to add that movies had very long theatrical lifespan then. A movie could show in theatres for over 6 months then. That's impossible right now.
The calamity that was Suicide Squad in 2016 definitely also had a role in audiences perception.

The last news we heard about it was it being retooled from a GL anthology series with different eras of Lanterns into a Hal Jordan movie. And ultimately Zaslav telling developers to cut down it's budget. Something from $120-150mn budget to around $80-90mn.
How do you pull off a GL series with multiple Lanterns with that shoddy budget in today's premium TV climate?

Y'all know how I've been lamenting of GL series slow production for two years now. That show is my most anticipated new DC shows in devt asides the JL Dark show. Project that has been greenlit and announced since 2019. 3 rewrites, showrunner left after getting fed up and restricting characters it could use. Also, the record of JJ Abrams Bad Robot that hasn't dropped a single DC project since signing a huge paycheck deal with WB since 2018. 4 yrs nothing, not even a small project or something in Titans or Doom Patrol budget. Nothing. So what makes you think that production company would be serious in getting something off the ground now, especially with reshufflings set to come.
Just better to scrap it and start a different movie production elsewhere instead of tying it to JJ.

TSS came and spun off Peacemaker in two years. The Batman that just came out this March is getting it's spinoff starting production by February next year. So you'd understand the pain seeing this project in devt hell. Especially with the potential and promises it offers.

I want a GL project to be among the first 5 new DCU projects. And if we get a GL movie maybe the series would be taken more seriously.
James Gunn already said GL is an important character in the first batch of films. So I assume GL is gonna show up soon but probably not from the show in development hell.
