First, Look out the reason for overheating, like failed thermostat, or maybe your fan stopped working to avoid reoccurrence. In as much as you can replace that broken cover for a token, ask and verify well if the radiator is still working properly, if not buy a NEW radiator.

Buying new radiator

Alert me when you find a solution. I am facing same issue. I have done everything. It still persists. Have even changed hub. Four mechanics have checked my shaft and tie rod and ball joints and said they are OK. I have done three alignments. Done tyre rotation. Even bought a new tyre for the side I feel the vibration. Still it still happens.

Two things to check.

1: check your front brake caliper. If they are locking up your car will vibrate on motion.

2: change your transmission fluid because if it's contaminated, it will cause what is called transmission shudder. Transmission shudder is when your car vibrates when you get to a certain speed especially at 35 to 40kmh but the moment you let go of the throttle pedal, the vibration stops

Please recommend a good Honda mech within Kosofe/Shomolu Lagos.
My 08 accord vibrates a bit when accelerating. Took it to a mech, he said ball joints need changing; bought the pair. After changing on the driver side, he said the passenger side is still okay. Did alignment thereafter but still notice the vibration.

Check your brake caliper. I suspect it's seizing the rotors when the temperature rises.

I changed my transmission fluid in July this year after I had a blinking D.

I serviced my brake callipers a month ago. I had a check brake system warning on my intrument cluster notification. After servicing the callipers, that warning has disappeared.i did that servicing Last week of November. Other things I have done because of this issue includes rotating my tyres, buying a new tyre for that side, grease have been added to the shaft seal,i have done wheel balancing and alignment four times at four different places and I have changed the hub. And it seems to be getting worse. I am tired honestly.

The moment you serviced your caliper did it get any better? I had same issue with you 2 months ago and it was my break caliper. I once serviced it and the issue stopped then a month later it continued. I had to replace the calipers. Jack your vehicle up and rotate the front left and right tyres with your hands. If it's stiff or very tough to turn then just know your caliper is stuck and needs replacing. Ensure your gear is in neutral and the engine shut off. I hope you are using the original dw1 for your transmission?

It still remained the same after servicing the caliper.

11k but if your tyres roll freely then your caliper is fine

Bought new radiator
Fixed it

Seems the fan is cutting ?
Worked first time car was started

Didn't work subsequently even when ac was put on
Then the car temperature rose quickly

That means the fan is the culprit for the overheating issue. Get a rewire to trace why the fan is misbehaving, the wiring harness, fan relays should be checked properly, maybe a collided wire or your fan is weak and need to be replaced. Good luck

I just noticed this blinking D yesterday and last once last week, when I turn off and on , it stopped . Did you scan to know if it was transmission fluids . Need to know what to do to mine.

Buy Original Brake pads. Talking from experience!

I had similar issue with my Accord. I did everything, I got advise here but none worked, I was about to change the brake disc between but decided against it.. I gave up on it and drove the car that way, when I notice vibrations, I usually reduce my speed. So, when I decided to service my car, I decided to change the brake pads. Immediately I left the place, I noticed the vibration was not there anymore.

Sorry I'm just seeing this. Change the whole thing. That way, if the fault reoccurs, you can then change the shaft cup. Good luck.

vivalavida:

Exactly. but the vibration is from the passengers side at that speed level you stated and later smoothens out. So what do i change? the full shaft or just the shaft cup?

Erm . . . Are you sure the pictures you posted was from the same vehicle? undecided

After you put your fingers into the tail pipe and rubbed it in between your fingers did it feel oily or dry ?

If it felt dry then it’s okay and very normal as it’s just the byproduct of internal combustion BUT if it felt oily then it means the vehicle either has a bad PCV valve or it is burning oil.

From the look of things that engine’s combustion process seems sound to me. If you decide to purchase it then make sure you continue to use the same engine oil type that the previous owner uses.

Hello boss

Merry Christmas to everyone.

I finally got the naija used, V4 2012 Accord.

When I asked the previous owner what type of engine oil was used to service the car to enable me to continue to use the same engine oil type, he replied that he didn't know because it was his former driver who normally took the car for servicing.

Please advise on the best way forward.

For a vehicle owner to delegate the servicing of his vehicle to his driver it invariably means that the cheapest of the cheap parts and fluids were being used.

If you are sure that he had never changed his transmission fluid before then leave it be. Use style to ask so he tells you the truth. You should know if the right fluid was used in the transmission if it was ever replaced at all.

For the engine oil it’s common sense to believe that the mechanic wouldn’t shell out N35k for mobil 1 to service his oga’s vehicle when there is mobil XHP of N11k in the market nearby.

If I were you I’d use the black cover mobil 2000 5w30 first and watch the engine oil dipstick for any signs of oil shortage and watch the tailpipe closely too for any smoking or oily discharge. If you find any symptoms of such then you’d know that it was the usual blue cover mobil XHP 20w50 that was used all along in the engine and revert accordingly.

wow!

This sounds scary o.

I will rightly do as you suggested.

However, if he responds that he does not know the type of Gear oil used, can I later start using "Honda Genuine Transmission Fluid ATF-Z1"?

Secondly, should I continue to use the black cover Mobil 2000 5w30 for my servicing if there is no oily discharge, smoking, or signs of oil shortage after the first usage?

Thank you for your insight.

If he responds that yes indeed he had changed the transmission fluid before but doesn’t remember the exact type used then it’s imperative that you change it out yourself for the right type of fluid. The correct transmission fluid is Honda genuine ATF-DW1.

If during/after you using the black cover mobil 2000 5w30 and you didn’t notice any abnormal shortening of oil (oil going below the lower dot on the dipstick before driving 1000 miles) or a smoking tailpipe you should continue using any good brand oil with the 5w30 weight.

Good you have a scanner. Keep it safe.

If you’re using the regular mobil 2000 (black cover) sold in the Nigerian market you should change it out after every 3000 miles (4,500 kms) or every 6 months if you’ve not driven that far in that timeframe. If it’s the usa mobil1 I’d suggest you use it till 5000 miles (7000 kilometers) or after a year If you’ve not driven as far as the above mileage.

Leave in the power steering and gearbox oil for now until you can go to oyingbo and buy the replacement Honda power steering fluid and the original dw1 transmission fluid. First use the vehicle for some months and observe how it functions before you start changing the transmission or power steering fluid.

But seriously, keep that vehicle very functional. If there are 100 people with that 2007 civic in Nigeria the people who have the exact configuration of yours won’t be up to 5. It’s a very rare car you’ve got right there.

Hello, Gurus.

I have another important request.

Based on my bitter experience on my EOD with mechanics, particularly some of the mechanics in Oyingbo and my personal mechanics who could not solve but only compounded the car's gear and engine problems. I spent so much money on parts and gear replacement that the problem worsened to the point where I had to sell the car as scrap.

I don't want to have another bad experience with this new 2012 Honda Accord. I have contacted Gazzus in this regard and he responded that, UNFORTUNATELY, he no longer supports that type of vehicle again.

So, could you gurus recommend a reputable Honda mechanic please, preferably one close to Ogba?
