The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba has appealed to parents to encourage their children and wards to pursue careers as police operatives in the country.

According to the IGP, the Nigeria Police Force is one of the most reliable platforms for advancing the cause of national service.

Baba stated this during the Passing Out Parade of 374 newly recruited constables at the Police Training College, Oyin-Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government of Ondo State.

The IGP, who was represented by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 17 Akure, Yunus Akeera, stressed that with youths taking an interest in the country’s police force, it would no doubt sustain the common vision for an efficient policing system.

While emphasising that the police force had zero tolerance for indiscipline, he advised the new constables not to engage in acts capable of soiling their names and the profession.

Akeera added that the new constables would be deployed to complement officers on election duty in 2023.

He appreciated President Mohammadu Buhari’s consistent commitment to repositioning the Nigeria Police Force as a modern brand.

In his remarks, the Commandant of the Police Training College, Oyin-Akoko and the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Adebayo Rafiu, who congratulated the recruits, charged them to be selfless and patriotic while discharging their duties.

He said: “I also urge you to constantly refresh your newly acquired knowledge and skills by putting all what you have learnt into practice on the field in order to uphold the highest level of discipline and professionalism in the discharge of your statutory duties.”

As much as the Police has its own shortcomings and challenges, it is still very key in stemming the breakdown of law and order..

All these Nigerians forbidding their kids from joining the Police, whose kids do you then want to join the police and do the dirty but very important job of law enforcement? ..

I remember my grandma today.

So we were preparing for inter-house sports competition in my secondary school and I was part of the marching squad for my house, I came home and I started practicing.

I swear to God, my Grandmother started crying. She made me swore that I will never become a Policeman. She said she didn't make that pact with God. And I have to swear to her. I had to.

She went ahead to tell my mum Incase I thought she wasn't serious. It was a serious case.

As old as she was then, she knew something was structurally wrong with the Nigeria Police force.

If she was alive today and she was infront of IGP Usman, walahi, IGP fit chop slap.

In case you didn't know, EFCC is a branch of the Nigerian Police.. And EFCC jobs aren't bad at all

Besides, there are many cushy Police Job positions reserved for the privileged.. Saw a very young Police Officer driving a Maserati in Abuja.. Guy couldn't have been more than 25..i shock

The IG and Police Service commission have made the Police force very unattractive.
There used to be a time a Bsc holder will join the force, start at the rank of ASP and Paid well.

But Bad belle from these older folks made them stop recruiting Bsc holders and asking everyone to start as a constable with menial pay except you're a graduate of the Police academy.

The dead meat guy can finally leave grilling and 30k bnc

Police is a noble profession made ignoble by you and your colleagues.
