Some teachers are also number one culprits.
They have those girls as sex mates.

The principals and vice principals should be no nonsense persons.
That will go a long way in solving the problem.

Charity truly begins at home. If every parent are worth being called parents they will breed responsible kids and societal ills will be fewer...though no matter what, there will be bad eggs within the societal sphere (egents of socialization) our kids will pass through, a well brought up kid should be able to make right judgement or choice or what to conform with or not most of the time.
Romanoff:
Most of these children are already spoiled from home due to parental neglect, the parents then pawn them off to boarding schools.

I went to an FGGC and I can tell you that if you don't put the right values in your children, these spoiled kids will influence them.

In 2003, I was in SS1, some girls from my set scaled fence to go party with their boyfriends. The cab man that took them from the fence to the club came back to report to the security at the gate, he then took them to the point at the fence where he picked them up. The house maters and mistresses were informed, principal was informed, house captains were informed.

Immediately, they started roll call house by house, room by room. That's how they found out the students who were missing.

All the prefects slept outside the hostel by hanging around the school waiting for them to come back. They came back on Sunday morning, they were allowed to scale the fence, the moment they entered like this, they were marched to the principal's house while their parents were called to come to school urgently on Monday morning.

By Monday morning, their parents were on the assembly ground when they marched them in with the skimpy clothes they had on. One of them that was influenced was just crying helplessly. Her mum jumped on her and started beating her.

Bottom line, they were sha expelled.

It is high time something is done on this notorious ugly trend in our secondary schools (boarding or day). Moral values should be inculcated in these children otherwise we are in for a generation that is perversed with heavy moral bankruptcy. No school management should hide or cover up any evil perpetrated by anyone, we should all work towards a sanner society.

It all boils down to lack of parental responsibility and moral decadence. During my days as a corp member, almost all the teachers at my PPA, including the principal were having sexual affairs with the female students. The Dean of studies in that school even encouraged me to sleep with the girls telling me that they are always willing to. At some point some of my female students were toasting me openly while the rather shy ones offered to come cook for me or do my laundry. These girls were between 13-17 years old. I'm no saint but where I come from, we don't do girls that young.

I love your last sentence

I totally agree with you. I served in a Federal Government College and with what I noticed there. . . hmmmm

We still have a long way to go

A girl carried pregnancy for 9 months, gave birth by herself in the hostel toilet at night, killed the baby and threw her body towards the fence of the corps members lodge so they'll think it's the corps members

She was later discovered because of secretions from her.

Guess what? She was suspended but that was the end of the issue. A lot of atrocities going on these days in our secondary schools and it breaks my heart because of the future generation.

This is your experience as a student. I think that was then when it was very functional. My experience as a staff? They will not be punished inasmuch as the matter dies in the school. They'll be forgiven and expected to repent...since you don't flog them and the principal has the final say.

Wetin you dey yarn me?
Now, girls would have bribed the cab man. Or the cab man would have demanded a share...in kind or money. Those girls are rotten.

School wey principal dey advise make you collect your own now you dey here? School wey principal dey stupidly sleep with girls his granddaughter’s age? School wey abortion pills are plentier than sand? School wey teachers dey die mysteriously sometimes? School wey teens dey willingly write you letters or visit you feigning to assist you with chores while dressing provocatively? Oya discipline them and be counted as a white fowl.

It's just disgusting some pedophiles as teachers actually see it as an opportunity to take advantage of these girls puberty is playing on.

I thank God for the minority few—students and teachers—who have refused to indulge and stood firm. I just pray peer pressure and mistreatment from perverted teachers don't make them give in.

Most times, it's not the school... It's the bad eggs in the school.....
Imagine a student hitting a fellow student in the chest repeatedly till they loose consciousness?
Or the one his head was slammed against the wall??
Who did all those The parents? The school? The principal?..

That situation happened in an FGGC NOT even an FGC.

Kids of that age range are still developing mentally though till the age of 25 years when the nerves in the pre-frontal cortex get fully connected. This is why juvenile delinquency exists among a lot of teenagers and those young ones in their 20s. Sometimes you have to use "strong arm" tactics to keep them in line.

I went to an elite FGC decades back too when some of the white folks, Indians, and Ghanaians, etc, where still teaching in FGCs and Unis. We had white principals too in FGCs. Deviants have always existed among teenage students back then though. Social media and the Internet have amplified these situations even more.

Sequel to this topic: https://www.nairaland.com/7508902/fgc-ijaniki-lagos-students-lodge

“The secrets and scandals that go on in boarding schools should not be heard by parents!“... I think it's the motto of the heads of departments in boarding schools. Is it sex? Drug abuse? Occultism? It's been going on for a long time.

There's an FGGC near where I live. For personal reasons, I won't disclose the location since this happens in almost all boarding schools.

Those minors no longer look like minors because of the forced maturity they forced themselves into.

Is education really respected anymore? I doubt, in the case of Nigeria..of course. The secondary school is now the most vulnerable! From my experiences while I was in the teaching sector, I think the best time to model a child is in secondary. Most teenage pregnancies happen in JSS3. JSS3? What's going on! And most times, the school doesn't “practically“ frown against it since of its management team are only interested in protecting the image of the school.

Day schools are no exceptions because I have worked in a school where even the director was notorious for having affairs with teachers and students. You need to see an environment where students tend to disrespect teachers because they feel they have an upper hand. Such spoilt brats!

I read the case of the Chris land girl and I wasn't surprised. I don't think any Nigerian teacher will be surprised. Even some management team advises you to “mind your business and job“ anyways.

They do so crazy things. They always have threesomes, foursomes, and group sex. Everyone living close know this because, most times, they are caught by people in the neighbourhood. Some are apprehended, while others are not. Some happen right inside the school! But guess what? The school is so determined to conceal their atrocities. It's no disrespect to state the obvious that (some of) their teachers also use them. They do, indeed. And you'll think they'd be disciplined severely by the school. Don't expect much.

And the rate of lesbianism is appalling. Some of these girls who sneak out at night end up in brothels...sex for money...and the majority of them run to their boyfriends like nymphs. Talk about boyfriends and you know I mean anyone ready to furnish their big lifestyles in school. Of course, most of them hustle to use the latest gadgets. If you are still using the iPhone 11 in the iPhone 14 world, you are in a different clique.

The alarming thing there is that youth corps members stationed there don finish these happy-to-be-used misguided teenagers.

I used to think that, most times, it's people who make advances to these little girls. Bit it's all untrue. These girls will gladly throw themselves at you for favors, marks, and all whatnot. Some are occultic...and if you don't recognize their physical advances, you become a threat.

You would want to remind me they have school guardians. Most of these guardians are only hyperactive when they are with you. After that, that's the end of discussion.

Should we talk about the immoral dressing? That will be for another day.

It's surprising to know but this isn't a university. It's a secondary school.

There's nothing new here. Anyone who's had the opportunity to work in any FGGC knows this.

In fact, what goes on there is worthy of consideration as a dissertation topic. Parents needs to know.

The FG really needs to look into this. And parents have a big role to play. Parents need to create time for their kids. Even most teachers I know in boarding schools don't send their kids to become boarders. Parental neglect is harmful.

We all should build society.

dear writer I understand your frustrations. You don't need a soothsayer to create an environment of truism. Well, I had some secondary school experience and I did my best to caution them. Only to discover, that some persons took it as a free for all situation. Schooling in Nigeria has taken a different turn. You can't even entrust your lad to some of them without issues. The regulations in secondary schools are not effective. I just hope one day we will realise the amount of damage being done.

Moral upbringing is more of the home than the school!
As a student, I had regular resonance of morally uplifting words of my parents coming to me even in the midst of decadence sustained by unrepentant delinquent teens.
Look beyond the school. The religious centres are not even helping out. Things you see in some of these centres will make you desire to be left out of such places!

On fridays in most private secondary schools in Lagos, the kids are allowed to wear mufti to school or some other home clothes. You need to see how some of the girls dress and what they wear shocked shocked shocked shocked. Male teachers who are not disciplined will fall for these girls who sometimes know what they are doing. Male teachers, act as fathers to these girls. Stop being alone with them in rooms that are not classrooms. Make sure you teach your female students in classrooms only, and not in the laboratory where things that are unsavoury can happen. Don't allow your female students to come and visit you at home. Keep them at a distance. Thanks.

During my NYSC I happen to teach in a school where SS2 & SS3 female students would come into my office to flaunt themselves on me. Thank God for my roommate work helped me overcome all sort of temptations. From the ones who'll cook and bring at odd hours to my house to those who'll come uninvited around 8,9 or 10. Some would openly tell you they are not kids. Imagine. Teachers De try. One even accused me of wanting to date her forcefully. Thank God my director knew me too well.

Education this days in Nigeria is scary, I finished from FGGC oyo then and all my years in school there was a high discipline rate that if you had anything wrong you would face severe punishment and 'pankere' flogging by mallam Yusuf is serious.

There were some funny acts though of stealing, breaking food box, lesbianism, school mothers stressing you on errands, dinning hall meals stolen but yet parents had visiting days that they never missed and if you carry out any offence and your parents hear of it on visiting days you will be punished more, flogged and your provisions will not be dropped.

Social media came and destroyed everything, my adopted brother in jss2 has been disturbing me for a phone, my mum told him we can't get him a phone now till he finishes his secondary education. He lied to us he wantedto buy one type of torchlight when torch and lamp full house. He broke his piggybank to buy mp3 player. Then our parents this days are lazy, they don't want to stress themselves on teaching the kids good morals but leave it only to the teachers alone. They're always busy with work and other social activities which we didn't grow with our parents who are now grandmas and grandpas

You are in school to learn and any form of atrocities won't be tolerated

NOW YOU SEE PARENT SLAPPING TEACHER BECAUSE THEIR CHILD IS CORRECTED FOR WRONG DOING.

Give your children touch light phone.

This would reduce exposure to sexual content drastically

Very true. Allowing tenagers to use any browsing phone freely is very bad. Porn is just few clicks away and very few can resist it.

As much as this is right, you won't want to hear about the sexual menace going on in village primary and secondary schools.

I once worked In a village secondary School for two years and i saw another version of the city life being practiced in the village.

As early as 8am,some students would leave the school premises and go into the bushes around the school with coal pot and raw food items and a keg of palm wine.
After eating, they would sleep with each other and come back to pick their bags by 3pm after closing.

A J.S.2 boy was caught with some black magic and juju he gave to his class mates to sleep with the girls in their class.
Touch and follow Juju.

The most painful part is that almost half of the students came from broken homes and some are even the one feeding themselves.
