Nairaland, Once A Great Forum. by Xenry: 4:19pm On Jan 14, 2023
Nairaland, once a great forum,
A place for all to share, learn and adorn,
From politics to love, a melting pot,
A community of minds, never to be forgotten.

Discussions flowed like a river's tide,
Ideas exchanged, knowledge multiplied,
Users came from far and wide,
To share their thoughts, without any pride.

But as time passed, things took a turn,
Toxicity seeped in, bridges burned,
The forum lost its light, its shine,
Leaving many to lament and whine.

Now, it seems the tide has turned,
The forum's spirit, forever spurned.
Trolls and haters roam the threads,
Leaving little room for thoughtful heads.

Gone are the days of friendly debates,
Replaced with insults and hate-filled rants.
Moderators try to keep the peace,
But the damage has already been released.

Nairaland, what happened to you?
Once a haven, now a place of blue.
I hope one day you'll return to your roots,
And once again be a place of truth.

Yet still, there are those who remember,
The days when Nairaland shone like ember,
And hope that one day it will be restored,
To its former glory, to be adored.

Well, let us remember Nairaland's past
And strive to make it great again at last
For it was once an interesting forum
And it can be so once more.

The user that commented above me will be ignored just like a tree in a forest, lost in the crowd.
Their words, left unsaid and unpronounced.

Their thoughts, like leaves, fall to the ground
Forgotten, as if never found!

Their words are empty, void of thought, and their input holds no value for they are without meaning.

I know he no send shaaa.
But, he should remember what happened to Nokia;
The company's failure to innovate and compete effectively in the smartphone market, along with poor strategic decisions and management, ultimately led to its decline and collapse.

And thanks for the self development reminder.

The level of toxicity and tribalism that's been promoted on this forum is just too much and the owner of the forum is just quiet about it, maybe he's in support of these tribalists, hence his silence, because as they say "silence means approval".

Also the rate some Mods rush some divisive and tribalistic topics to front page without any consequence or caution from Seun leave less to be desired, and if they continue on this path, they will just end up killing this once wonderful platform.

For instance, there's a moniker called LILTJAY1 that has taken it upon himself to be a bigot (a trip to the handle will confirm what I'm saying) yet almost all his bigoted topics hits front-page, and you keep wondering which Mod(s) is/are pushing these trashy topics to front-page? The owner cannot claim not to see these things, but for some unexplainable reasons he chosed to look the other way.

Infact if you counter their bigoted posts or try to show that they're deliberately distorting facts, the Mods will either delete your post before pushing the thread to front page, or just delete your post and still ban you, that's how messed up the platform have become.

No be lie. The old monikers, once so bold and bright with wisdom, wit, and humor light. They were the bros of days gone by, with stories and advice to share on high.

But now they're gone, and we are left with new monikers that we don't know and neither do they know us.

Your moniker was among the old ones, I still can remember smiley.

This looks the kind of stuff Meobizy would post. They are unimpressed with the depreciation nairaland has incurred over the years.

Meo, I'm trying to start a diary where I can communicate privately to you without our usual audience. What do you think of this idea?

Fun fact: there's no rule in nairaland that's against stalking a particular moniker, and basically being a nuisance to them.

Yeah, forum has been running for almost 20 years now. There really should be some kind of blocking option.

Lmao don’t worry, the last ‘update’ this website received was the front page topics being underlined. If it gets any significant feature changes like a blocking option it will probably be in 2080 earliest

I remember people having to beg to get the deactivation feature before it finally got implemented
