My Thermocool Optima gen battery seems like its failed. It can't start with switch but starts with the pull cord. I don't know if the battery is dead or its not charging while running. If its the latter, how do I make sure its charging?

The battery was not produced on the day you bought it. It is a flooded battery which requires periodic maintenance. You can go ahead to service it if you wish.

Servicing the dead battery can get you 6 months of use if you're lucky.

Buy a Mercury battery and have rest of mind.

Likely dead. Those batteries usually die within 1yr.
Buy a replacement battery of similar capacity and replace.

If you want to double check if your gen is outputting charging voltage. Use a voltmeter to measure the voltage at the terminals.

If you have some diy skills, you can attempt reviving the battery, by adding small distilled water and using a pulse repair battery charger.
Perhaps it may serve you another 3 to 9monthe b4 dying.

What kills the battery is not running the gen frequently, as lead acid battery like being charged full all the time

Please o. Serviced my gen yesterday by changing the oil and cleaning the air filter. When i put it on after that yesterday, it went off after few minutes, when i restarted it again, it wasn't carrying my refrigerator anymore, the refrigerator compressor turns on for like 20s and goes off again like the power isnt enough, i also tried increasing the gen rotor speed but it's still the same and the output voltage of the gen is ok(220v).. what could be the issue?
