Thanks. I think I'd adopt same. It's not a crime to be LGBTQ+ & eventually, it's not a crime to NOT be LGTBQ+...
If none of them is a crime and you are not LGBTQ, why not boldly say you are not?

If you are worried that they won't take you if you are not LGBTQ, do you really want to work for a company that's employing only LGBTQ? Same with gender and religion.

Just so you know, these things are not considered for employment or similar purposes as it is discrimination and a serious offence so don't overthink it. They are meant for statistics.

Sos. I don’t know where to start or if this is the right way. Please is there anyone that can help or knows how long to get an Emergency Travel certificate from the Nigeria High Commission? Can it be gotten the same day? Just lost my surviving parent and need to travel to Nigeria tomorrow.
If you work with the High Commission and can also help, you would be doing so much good to my soul.
If it’s okay to ask, please no condoling messages as it will make things tougher for me and pull me down further. Thanks all.

What happened to your current passport........

Even if it's expired, you can still fly with it .......

Thank you for your kind suggestions. Well appreciated

I will suggest he rectifies it in-country. It can take an average of 6 weeks and can't work. It can be tracked too

I think you will have to take it back to the centre but can take weeks to issue a new vignette if you decide to go through this route.

you can travel with an expired passport to Nigeria, but check that the airline allows it. You should then plan to renew in Nigeria. I think it can be done at the airport or any of their offices.
See more details in the tweet below.

Thanks

Goke7:

so that's the issue with the UK job market, It's always about experience and what you can do or have done. So try and search for learning platforms that can give you hands-on experience, though some may charge you. That's how you can navigate the experience ish and those platforms also can provide you with work references.

Viruses:

Don't rely on that BCS cert, approach job search as if you don't have the BCS.

On the experience, you can create a home lab, get sample projects online and deal them like real life projects. Craft your CV with your home grown experience (you may have to be strategic and economical with the truth here) and apply for jobs. Next step will then be how to pass interviews.

Reach out to a relative in Nigeria. They can help you do it and send the scan copy of the PCC to you

Since I haven't stay up to 5 years here I need the certificate for my new employer ( the government ) to carry out criminal record check. The said the one I have is expired and won't be accepted.

Yeah! 48k is good enough to live a decent life but my point was on the 40% deduction by the govt not essentially the worth of the net income.

Sadly, I didn't factor in the tax allowance, which will still leave more income in the pocket of the collector. In all, it's good news. grin

There is salary, there is take-home (net) and there is take-to-home; the totalitarian totality of the package inclusive of it's benefits (financial, tangible, intangible, wellbeing, well-being...)
So speaking in not so straightforward English, there's more to salary than just the 'financial' figure!
May we all earn well and aged well.

I'm having people reaching out from Aus asking about pay and work conditions in NZ and UK and vice versa. Everyone is moving for greener pastures both perceived and real. We (developing countries) don't have the monopoly of seeking a better life elsewhere. The average Brit, American, Aussie, Kiwi on the street think their life is super hard and will be better in x, y, z country. Till they get there and find they have to seriously water that grass too.

The same money/finance issues is chasing everyone up and down. You're focusing on the salaries being paid there without the attendant cost of living issues.

Yes Ticha, we know there’s shortages of health workers around the world. SemmyK pointed out yesterday that most counties are battling survival and we agreed to that.

I think your figures are wrong, based on £80k PA, Income tax would be £19,432, National Insurance would be £6,318 , so his annual take home would be £54,250 which makes it a monthly salary of £4,521.

Apart from the allowance, the higher rate will be paid only on the marginal sum above 50k.

Take home after tax and NI will be ±55k annual - about £4.5k monthly.

Edit

Just saw someone had done a comprehensive breakdown.

I know this is just a hypothetical case but I can’t just read and pass because this might actually be someone’s reality. Making a pension contribution of only 4.5% on a salary of £80K is a recipe for poverty in old age.

I would expect a minimum pension contribution of at least 10% in that income bracket. The more you pay into a pension pot either through your work place pension or a personal pension plan, the lesser the tax you pay to HM. Why pay that money to HM, when you can pay a large chunk of it into a pension plan and get tax relief. If in doubt, get a good accountant/tax consultant.

Have you considered this person might simply supplement private pension with statutory pension payout ......... grin

Their employer might also be topping up ....... So you see, not so much recipe for poverty......... grin
