The above bolded is the right way to go. Make sure the fluid is fresh and properly gauged before shifting your attention to anything else. The fluid is the life of the gearbox.

Thank you.. will update once done.

What of your transmission neutral safety switch. That cable you just changed actually controls this switch and makes your gearbox enter different gears as you shift the lever. Since the cable is no longer an issue your next culprit is this switch.

It is on the side of your gearbox just behind your drivers wheel and It can either be recalibrated or replaced.

Show your mechanic the picture below and he will know where it is on your gearbox. Let him check it to see if it’s loose or bad.
Okay boss, will go there Tomorrow,..God bless you.

One more question please, when I'm on moderate or high speed and then i slow down due to traffic or bumps, the car jerks once(after speed has reduced), then continues normal movement, what could be the cause boss?

Baba, remember you’re driving a vehicle with a CVT gearbox. I hope you’ve not used ATF-DW1 in it shocked

If you reduced the transmission fluid I hope it isn’t too low now. Check your owners manual on the proper way to check your transmission fluid level. It’s not the same across vehicle makes and models and your mechanic might be reading its level wrongly. Your symptoms look like it’s indicative of something to do with the transmission fluid not being at the normal level so far you’ve replaced the faulty solenoids with functional units already
boss please what's the best gear oil to use for Honda EOD 2004?

Good evening
There's this sound I hear when I accelerate after a stop

Like a pom sound

After tightening the exhaust and something under
It stopped

But I plied a road yesterday and the sound is back today

But from the above quote we are both assuming and making assumptions aren’t we? grin

Fact is if the cable isn’t to be replaced then [b]N15k for workmanship fee alone is high
. He should haggle the price down.
This is totally wrong.
Go to Honda place and get same quote then tell me if the technician is wrong for asking for 15k.
My point is, service charge is strictly at the discretion of the technician based on the parameters he uses for billing. You can either accept and give consent to do the job or you decline and go elsewhere. Saying someone's charges are expensive because he/she is not affordable by you is wrong as there will always be someone or organization that would charge higher and or lower for same job.

It’s like you’re missing the point of this sub, this thread was created for people to post about issues they are passing through with their Honda vehicles and also to seek for ADVICE, OPINIONS and SOLUTIONS to their problems.

You are a mechanic and I am not, when it comes to charges clients pay for workmanship I’m sure you’re always going to be PRO BIG-BIG BUCKS grin so I don’t blame you for attacking me for advising a fellow honda user not to overpay for a simple service.

Look above you, there are posts that I’m sure you could have given answers to but you instead chose to jump them and drag me for advising a fellow Honda user not to overpay for a service. Your prior post towards my mention was concerning me making assumptions cheesy oga are you dragging me for making assumptions or for telling someone not to pay too much for a service? Come clean and stop beating about the bush.

If your client drives into your garage tomorrow to change oil and you bill him N100k that is your business BUT when that particular client sees me and asks for my opinion on the matter, I’d just tell him one word . . .

RUN wink

Before it was that I was making ‘assumptions’ now it’s that I’m low-balling the price of a service . . . Oga you sleep see me for dream? undecided

Please try not to derail this thread, if you see an issue you have an opinion concerning solving please drop it. Don’t come attacking others for giving their own help in one way or another.

ATF-DW1. Buy the original one. Fakes abound in the market. Contact luvinhubby here for them.

That ‘jerk’ you experience is your gearbox downshifting from gear 2 to gear 1.

You need to change your transmission fluid fast before the issue worsens and affects your solenoids.

Obviously whoever did the prior tightening of ‘whatever it was’ under your vehicle didn’t do a good job. Take it back to him to inspect his work again and probably do a better job.

Then I feel this vibration when accelerating

Many things can cause this.

Bad/worn out tyres
New tyres not yet properly balanced
Inner Cv joints/shaft getting bad

Check them out one by one starting from the first on the list.

You're getting the entire narrative wrong and quoting me out of context.
Anybody can charge whatever amount he or she deems fit as long as the job is done. It has nothing to do with me being a technician or not.
The fact that people come here to seek for second opinion does not in any way mean they're coming from a Kazeem or a tree shade mechanic.
Let's just drop the issue and focus on giving tips and advise.

Jeessuu shocked

Don’t drive more than 1000 miles before you change out whatever fluid he put in there. It will ultimately affect the gearbox. You need 4 cans of original atf-dw1 to change/dilute whatever fluid your mechanic poured in there fast.

Wow! I’m just seeing what’s displayed on your dashboard. That stuff that is displayed beside the 3 in your gear display is not supposed to be there except you have one of the more serious cvt issues.

I have some bad news for you. It’s like you’ve purchased one of the Honda Accord units that have a recall out on it because of its gearbox. I’ve read about this somewhere before. There is a website that you can input your VIN number and any TSB’s put out by Honda concerning your particular unit would be displayed.

I’m suspecting that yours would have the TSB for the infamous CVT gearbox recall but in the meantime just keep your fingers crossed. Give me some time to search out the website. When I give it to you just use your vin number on the page where it’s needed so you can see if your vehicle was affected.

If unfortunately your vehicle was affected, and the previous oyibo user didn’t take it in for the recall before selling and shipping to Nigeria then it means you will need to change the gearbox as nothing else can help it.

I’d get back to you on this.

Good afternoon everyone,

I drive a 2004 Honda Accord, 4 plug engine, I use the recommended gear oil and do routine maintenance. I changed my gear oil in August last year and in December I did another oil change because of these 3 code.

P0757
P0780
P1732

I experience delay shifting sometimes when changing from gear 2 to gear 3, a very light jerk sometimes when changing from gear 2 to 3, check engine light on and blinking of D light occasionally and if I turn of the car and start it again, the blinking stops.

Please what do I do because I don't want my mechanic to guess randomly and I have changed the solenoid but it still persists

After you changed the solenoid b & c did you experience any type of difference in the way the vehicle shifts even if it’s for a moment?

If you didn’t experience any change then make sure you used a good replacement, your wiring harness is properly secured and you used original atf-dw1 transmission fluid in yiur gearbox only.

After you tested the brainbox did you notice the issue go away? Is that why you’re looking for another ecu to buy?

Because I read that apart from a recall they can update/flash some specific models of these vehicles’ ecu and the issue will be resolved. I guess buying a new updated brainbox is the same as a re-flash that those oyibo dealerships do.

Sorry .. I meant new transmission was prolly dozing off while typing.. apologies for that

But Yh, we tested a new brain box with it and after like 20 mins the issues came back and there was a conclusion that I’ll need to get a new transmission.

I need a plug that’s reliable and affordable for Tokunbo transmission

I experienced changes in the shifting, I traveled with the car and came back and it by started again 2 weeks ago

I took the car to the mechanic on Tuesday and he serviced all the sensors in the gear box and tested all three and they were working fine and since then the shifting has been good but the error code keeps is still coming up when I scan

Yeah, once those ‘jaga-jaga’ numbers start showing on the dashboard and a simple fluid change didn’t solve your issue then it’s to change the gearbox. How I wish I saw those symbols sooner I’d have told you what’s up.

Go through luvinhubby for another cvt transmission. He’s in the market right there where they sell it.

Then give the car’s tcu computer some time to relearn. The new transmission fluid you changed needs a few kilometers to get itself settled everywhere in the gearbox. Some places that were clogged or blocked will need some time and steady pressure to clear open.

When next you park the vehicle, remove the battery terminals overnight. The next morning attach the terminals well and start the vehicle. If the check engine lights come back on but the vehicle’s gearbox is shifting well then just drive it like that for a few days. It may clear off by itself later after the transmission has relearned.
