My Glass-Top Stove Suddenly Shatters When Not In Use, Shards Fly 5 Metres Into the corridor..
I was in the room when I heard a loud crack from the kitchen due to the tempered glass spontaneously shattering, which sent shards flying five metres away into the corridor.

The glass continued cracking for about 30 minutes until it was fully shattered. I have not used this stove for about a month plus. so the surface was not hot..
Please what could be the cause of this.

I experienced this shiiit some years back. Na so I look the kitchen, look the stove, shake my head, bust laugh.

For English, dem dey call the process "Obsolescence" where stuffs are manufactured to expire or stop being useful after a while to keep production going endlessly.

In this case I believe the glass top has expired and would no longer withstand the heat.

However, thermal stress will make glass shatter when cooled rapidly after it has been exposed to heat.

I read somewhere that it happens when it has expired. This actually very dangerous.

E don expire, get a new one.

Belgium cookers are far better than the new ones sold here.

It has expired.

I will always choose metal gas stoves over glass.

The glass can shatter anytime, thank God it didn't happen when you are cooking.

Mostly when it reach a year usage, it will shatter and it is very dangerous.

I experienced it many years ago.

It's expire now, what do you want us to do

I’ve had similar experience, mine was in use and the level shattering was as if someone hit it with hammer but the luck I had was nobody was in the kitchen as at when the incident happened

So I don’t advise anyone to buy this type because it’s dangerous

Looks like you used it passed the expiry date

My.brother thats the main problem with this Glass cover gas cooker, there is nothing more to it, is just the usual problem for glass cover gas cooker. It happen to me when i was using same type, i go change the cover to stainless cover and till date i m still using it.

I have seen this happened in a friend's house

Things just turn on their own

That gas cooker doesn't look like something that hasn't been used up to a month.

The burners are rusted and the metal plate around the knobs as well unless you bought it from someone who had previously used it.

The glass must have become brittle due to excessive heat and also the glass used might have expired.....

It's normal bro. Change the glass.. It has been weaned due to heat at you cook on a daily basis... What actually happened is that, every ignition switch you make when you wanna light it up, flame always pass under it, to light the burner.. So every day it becomes weaker day by day.. And remember its a tempered glass.. It has expiry.. No be village people
