President Buhari recently commissioned the largest Rice Mill in Africa and the 2nd largest in the world by production capacity in Imota, Lagos state.

The project has been in the making for over 6 years. The plan to build a new rice Mill in Imota, Lagos was first launched by the previous administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and completed by the current Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwoolu.

A 2.5 hectare land was chosen in Imota to host the plant.

It features 16 silos of 2500MT each bringing it's total storage capacity to 40,000MT.

The plant is built to process 200,000MT of rice Paddy annual. No rice Mill across Africa comes close in terms of capacity.

To feed the plant with such quantity of rice. Partnership were finalized with other Nigerian states including Ekiti, Benue, Borno, Sokoto and Kwara.

The plant has two production lines capable of producing 650 bags of rice every hour or 2.4 million bags every year.

The job potential is around 250,000 for both direct and indirect as stated by the Lagos state commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya.

Rice importation cost Nigeria about $1.65 Billion.
This rice Mill aims to change that eventually.

This is a welcome development.

Meanwhile, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State completely abandoned agriculture and made people believe he focused on a facade infrastructural development.

The truth is that just like Buhari's Daura, Dave made his tiny town a haven and left the entire state in shambles.

The few multicoloured bridges and building he did are just for aesthetics. Most of them do not extend beyond 2km into the interior. They are done along where people transit to other states so that they can be seen.

Without all these Political rice mills in 2014 below, a bag of rice was less than 15k.

Now, even with all these Rice Mills, minimum wage can't buy a single bag of rice undecided..

After repackaging and making rice pyramids of impounded imported rice, they want to come and deceive their parents, not me. angry

Ambode has refused to turnup at every event he was invited. I understand he’s still mad at the southwest political class, but he should also understand that he didn’t play his politics well and karma is a bitch they say.

Rice is the most consumed food in most part of the world. This will go a long way in making food available and cheap

All these propaganda will not help Tinubu.

He will not be president even if they amplify their disproportionate achievements versus available resources.

Don't tell your residents till you have produced the said potentials. Till then.

It's better to keep project hypes to yourself till the results can be on record.
