Don't smoke or eat fish inside the car. It leaves a lasting odour in there |

The truth is as a new driver, you can only try but since this is your first car, you will make a lot of mistakes with it. That is why I always advise first drivers not to buy something that is very expensive. Just buy something small so that you can learn driving and maintenance with it. |

jonas117:1) Go and read the car manual (you can download it online if you don't have hard copy) 2) Always use the engine oil specified by the manufacturer 3) Always use wheel and tyre sizes specified by the manufacturer and pump to the correct tyre pressures specified by the manufacturer 4) Don't borrow out your car to everyone. Don't be shy to say no to some people 5) Don't wash the car with hard soap. (I personally use only water to wash cars) as soaps will make your car paint to fade |

Nazgul:jona117, be careful with the number 1 advice given by this person as a mistake with engine oil could be the beginning of the end for your car. If your car is direct Tokunbo, I would advice to aways use the engine recommended by the manufacturer |

| Re: How To Maintain A Car As A New Driver? by sgtponzihater1(m): 2:04pm On Jan 28, 2023 |
vivalavida:Most definitely. It's only in Naija service every 3months. If you are not doing over 12k miles a year, why service every 3months and open opportunities for mechanics to temper with your ride? Do your research from the internet, it's the information age. Cheers PonziHater |

Sirchiboy:There are 2 dip sticks or calibrated gauge. One is for engine oil while the one normally red or pink is for gear/steering oil. U will see them when u open ur bonnet / front hood |

sgtponzihater1:Enlightening I must say. Pls educate me more on the 3 month service thing you said isn't true. Also I don't know about the coolant fluid instead of water thing. Thanks. |
| Re: How To Maintain A Car As A New Driver? by PerfectMan24: 2:45pm On Jan 28, 2023 |
Sirchiboy:Pls there is a typo error there. Check here for correction. I highlighted the correction in bold There are 2 dip sticks or calibrated gauge. One is for engine oil while the one normally red or pink is for gear/steering oil. U will see them when u open ur bonnet / front hood. Also, there are plastic containers built inside the bonnet/hood. Try and identity them 1. Water/coolant reservoir for radiator 2. Water reservoir for wiper cleaner 3. Gear oil reservoir. These depends on ur car brand/model |

PerfectMan24:. Is steering and gear oil box the same thing? |
| Re: How To Maintain A Car As A New Driver? by PerfectMan24: 3:14pm On Jan 28, 2023 |
Sirchiboy:Yes, u can call it gear or steering oil but the real name is ATF = Automatic Transmission Fluid See the pic attached. The yellow gauge is for engine oil while the red is for gear/steering oil

sgtponzihater1:Remember not everyone uses full synthetic oil. Some are using semi-synthetic oil to service their vehicle. Will you advise someone using semi-synthetic oil to go one year without oil change even if the person isn't doing 12k miles per year? |
| Re: How To Maintain A Car As A New Driver? by sgtponzihater1(m): 3:34pm On Jan 28, 2023 |
Rinoxy:You only need to service your ride after 12000 miles or after a year whichever comes first. Did this almost all the I have been driving. The mechanics want you to come every time to they fuel the every 3months story. |
