Started the first 25mins yesternight and most of what I could see was cringe. E just dey soap opera-ish for my eyes.

The only reason I'm back for it is because I cherish the show and the characters but this movie is looking very weak AF in comparison to the show.
But mehn, that Malia actress is cute AF. I've always admired her, her @ss in the first minutes of the film was GOLD.

Early days yet tho.

Lol, yeah, Chainsaw Man is kinda weird but it really gets good at episode 5&6. It's a great anime.

You're not just used to that trope yet that's all.

You can add Castlevania if you haven't watched it. It's not anime but anime inspired. Just 4 seasons but shorter than your average anime on episodes count. It's top tier entertainment.

I feel "The Oscars" have put their selves in a bind here with the Andrea Riseborough nom, If they let it go ahead = PR mess, if they rescind it, this close to the awards = A bigger PR mess and frankly the movie isn't worth these trouble, i have seen better "Drunken and down to the last luck Mother road to redemption" flicks. I even skipped it last year, it was the oscar buzz that made me see it.

The Michelle Williams "category fraud" talk is that she didn't have enough screen time and meaningful arc in the the movie ( afraid to mention the name because of the elephant in the room 😭😭), which for some reasons, i still haven't seen so, i can't really judge but She's a very dynamic actress and with four norms already which were stellar performances and she would have stood a better chance in the "Supporting actress category" because my last dime is on either Cate Blanchett or Michelle Yeoh grabbing the best actress nod this year.

Anyways, the oscar imo is losing credibility and relevance, with each passing year. Was it not last year here they had that PR disaster between Chris Rock and Will Smith?. I am definitely sure this year will serve up another judging by all the drama we are witnessing now.

Oscars is really trying hard to push themselves out of relevance with their own hands this year. The views keeps dropping and that's the most likely reason they tried to include crowd pleasers and box office powerhouses like Top Gun and Avatar 2 and Black Panther in the nominations. My only issue is the criminality in omitting The Batman for Best Score ans Cinematography.
What's even more surprising is how Paul Dano missed out on Best Supporting for The Batman or missing out for Best Actor for the Michelle Williams movie.
This year is more controversial than the past few years and more damning. Will Smith/ Chris Rock brouhaha to me even brought some significant amount of viewership to last year's Award, despite the few negativity. It's funny the Oscars is gonna be available for live streaming this year.

To me Michelle is the lead actress nevertheless and she put up a great performance. She IS a major focal point in the movie that's why I don't understand people's twitter rants.

The one nomination I'm questioning is what is Barry Keoghan doing in Best Supporting Actor. Cos me I no see wetin him play wey everybody dey hype am. I've seen way more and better this year. His performance was really good but Oscar nom worthy? I think not.

Sure Blanchett and Yeoh are definitely the ones to win Best Actress. I'm not bothered if Michelle lost out, they were better. It reminds me of WB's tactical wisdom in putting Daniel Kaluuya and Keith Stanfield both in Best Supporting Actors last year. 😃

This year Oscars is very much troubled especially when you see there's another section of online rants that feels this year was unjust to women. They feel women directed movies were snubbed (both for Best picture & director). And there's also the racial discrimination discussion with this Riseborough nomination.
