Postponed or not, I don't expect the new naira note to be everywhere as was the old one, the idea of the whole currency redesign is to reduce money in circulation and push transactions online.
Some of una dey talk as if nah every where for Nigeria internet penetration dey

I don't want an extension.
I m not happy with the extension cod it ll enable those he think are stealing to steal n hide more.
The masses only suffered during the panic of the previous week, the looters got 10 extra days to hide exchange their hidden old notes.
The common man has nothing more to lose.

Even with the extension of 10 days I doubt politicians can be able to store up enough to prosecute election for the simple reason that the cash is still controlled and regulated by CBN, I mean if CBN printed 2 trillion of the new money, they can push it in bit by bit and control the amount availed to banks that will in turn control amounts in Citizens and politicians hand. All the while Emefiele and Buhari knew it will be extended but they have studied the psychology of an average Nigerian who needs knee jerk action to react, that is why they come up initially with no extension, all these are still part of their initial plan.

That was so thoughtful of them. Atleast by then the new note must have been circulated.
you think new notes can circulate nationwide within 2 weeks

I said it! The timing is just too minimal, There are certain factors that need to be considered,u can't just plunge the whole nation into chaos for some flimsy ideas.if they had allowed the 31st January deadline to take effect,In a way they would have marred the upcoming election from holding at the said date.

It's chaos in the banks... many still have old cash in Rural areas..

Politicians can't do MUCH with this window
Then I ll sensibly do it this way, start the plan early, enough and keep an eye on those that drop huge cash to explain in details where they saw the cash

Should have been extended by a maximum of one week so the CBN can supply the new notes to all crannies and monitor the dispensing. I stand with Buhari on this one.

Still the fact that the CBN Governor still has no ideas on what to do about the scarce new notes beats me. Because you can expect these adamant banks to continue to put old notes in their ATM up to the deadline as they did before. I have a suspicion too that those old notes the banks are putting in the ATMs are from the politicians to leave little or no trails for their nefarious activities. The million dollar question is what is Emefiele planning to do about the scarce new notes? Is there a technology that only the ATMs get the new notes using the batch numbers of the currency following a directive from the CBN so the greedy politicians do not get it again as they did before? These are the questions he should be answering.

Why shouldn't they? If banks that were supposed to be the main means through which the old notes should be faced out were still paying with the same old notes as at last week?

Still doesn't say the banks won't do the same as before. They are sabotaging the CBN's efforts.

Buhari's has no ball. Common sense suppose tell him he's to give 6 months notice ahead for the new notes to be in full circulation. If he did the policy in order to curb politicians, then it has failed with the extension.
I just don't like a man that pretends to be good but is very bad!
At the end, people ll hate APC more cos the common man has nothing more to go and change in the bank.
The looters has 10 more days to loot/exchange old notes. So...I disagree with the president on this extension. If I m in his shoes, I would v implemented this policy since early last year and give 6 months maximum notice with eagles eyes to watch who's exchanging huge cash. I go catch lots of people and ask where they saw huge cash to exchange.
There's a limit to the old notes you can exchange with the new notes. You can't take for example ₦20B to the bank and expect to be given new notes. Bulk of it will be credited to your account and less than ₦10m cash will be given to you.

So till Feburary 10.

Show gets more interesting.

Either way, moneybag politicans are still in trobule. Elections is 9 feb, even if you give greedy voter some money, he or she would still have to go and join queue.

Tinubu will not use this opportunity to bring his corrupt money to the bank, later he will start crying that buhari don't want him to win the election. CBN should direct all banks not to pay with old notes.

Abi. Also, I would have noted the numbers on the new currency and see if it is possible for the ATMs with the current policy of no over-the-counter new currency payments to get some of these greedy bank managers and MDs in trouble who are saboteurs.

Which banks?! All the banks can't be lying against one CBN. CBN owes it a duty to set policies & ensure strict compliance and sanctions against erring banks. What have they done to ensure smooth facing out, outside making mouth on media.
